Just got my new P3 working on my K3. Several years ago, there was an issue of
updating the K3 with the P3 connected. Is that still true? What is the
procedure for update either devices? I have the latest P3 and K3 utilities

No problem updating either one now, Lee. You can leave them both connected
in the daisy chain. Use the P3 Utility for updating the P3, and the K3
utility for updating the rig. (only run one of those programs at a time, of
course.) There is no longer any need to shut off either device when updating

No, you can not monitor your xmit signal with the P3, at this time. There is
an unused cutout on the rear panel of the P3 labeled sensor. many of us
hope this will be for an optional internal board and external sensor to
allow the P3 to operate as a station monitor on TX.
Some people have noted
On the KX3 Yahoo group, in the files section, is an example file that you
may open with the K3 Frequency Memory Editor and then optionally edit
and/or download to the KX3. Of course, if you ahve a K3, you may already
have files you wish to use.

This may be entirely dependent on signal level vs. AGC threshold.
Prior to MCU 4.5x APF was generally working with signals that had
already activated the AGC thus the peaking occurred above the
threshold/slope. With the higher threshold, the noise is not held
to a well defined level so

Agreed. Right now, I think all you can do is kick in the attenuator and

Folks seem to interchange the terms cursor and markers. The cursor(s)
don't change when you rotate the P3 knob. The cursors indicate the current
frequency of VFO A and VFO B. The knob on the P3 only moves the A and B
markers which can be made visible or invisible with the 4th button on

I *think* when you press CENTER, you can use the knob to move the cursor.
In fixed-track mode, the display remains fixed (duh!) as the cursor moves

I discovered my problem. I hadn't constructed my opto-isolator device
properly. I was using a standard circuit but a standard circuit wasn't
designed for a K2. Once keyed, the K2 never returned to receive.
For the K2 to work correctly I had to add two diodes to the output of
the opto-isolator

Hi Bruce,
To move a marker you have to first turn it on by tapping the MKR A
button or holding the MKR B button. Then the P3's knob will move the
marker around and when you tap the knob, the K3's VFO A (for MKR A) or
VFO B (for MKR B) will QSY to the frequency of the marker.
