I never understood why a straight key doesn't decode and is unable to drive
the data mode generator.
A strange omission, a lot of straight keyers out there...

Seems like a couple of interesting changes are being sought by K3 users where
as in the past we have had quick comments etc
This one was asked before some time ago, by me, and was answered if I recall
correctly by Lyle. Basically it just isn't as simple as it might seem to
connect the output of the monitor to the decoder, which is designed to take
input from the DSP not the sidetone monitor.
The K3 can display your
Isn't that what TX EQ is for? I agree, a way to switch quickly between TX EQ

Hi Julian,
It's never that simple :-)
But the RX decoding algo's are already there so why not use them on the
straight key input as well?
It would also make a nice monitorexercise device for your straight-key
handwriting quality :-)

CW decoding algorithm's are available which do a pretty good job on

Hi Robert,
Guess I'm a consistancy freak :-)
Being a fan of good old straight key handwork I personally was surprised by
the omission of decode and data-keying this way. Since the decoder is
already there it shouldn't be a new DSP eater.
Meanwhile I'm used to it and yes, you're right, more

The most likely is that you have misplugged either the K160RX or the K60XV.
