Hi Bill,
It all depends upon the range of loudness range you want your ears to
tolerate.
I did some plots (SLOPE=12) for THR =10, 12, 13. I used the K3 S meter

Do it like the manual says. You can do it in TX TEST so you don't

First turn compression to zero, then adjust the mic gain until you see 7

Then increase compression as desired - usually 10% is good.

The scenario was the morning 75M 'old guy' net. During the lulls, there was
a ~15 db above the -110 db noise floor signal (I LOVE the P3!). Auto notch
would not take it completely out
You should connect a COM port cable from the PC to the K3's RS232
socket, select the correct port on Digipan. On the K3, set PTT to DTR
or RTS, and correspondingly set it the same on Digipan for the COM
port you selected. If your serial cable is RX/TX/GND only, you could
also select VOX for DATA
We'll eventually be making AGC THR and AGC SLP per-mode, which might
help with such situations. You could optimize these settings
differently for SSB (so that auto-notch worked optimally) and for CW
(to allow for the case where many signals are nearly on top of each
other).
