In transmit, the voltage was dropping from 13.3 to about 11 at the radio.
The ground wire side of the power cable had worked loose within its terminal
lug at the power supply, causing excess drop. Reattached and now the drop
is just a few tenths of a volt. Problem solved.
Barry W2UP
John,
I wasn't using the Astron-supplied lug. I crimped another lug onto the
cable. Somehow, the wire within the crimp worked itself loose, after 10+

I'm not sure which Winlink software you are running, but it should
work. Check to see that you have VOX on so that when you start to send

Yes, that is correct. Just feed it some RF and if the SWR is above

I prefer not to mess with the RF Gain control and I live in a noisy QTH, so
weak signals aren't an issue (not that they'd hear me, anyway, lol).
Are the AGC default settings good? (and I don't care about the CW decoder)
Tnx,

Another endorsement for N3ZN paddles. I own a ZN9 and very pleased with it.
I had a Begali Graciella, too, and sold it when I downsized by station about
6 years ago. kept the N3ZB paddle. Both are outstanding, but, IMO, the ZN
is better bang for the buck (or Euro).

Most Capital One credit cards do not charge a foreign transaction fee (most
CCs 2-3%). If Begali accepts credit cards directly, you might want to look
into one of those.

Their adios must be working, as they copied my puny signal!
Eric, a feature request for the next firmware update:
A digitally encoded signature in the CW transmission so K3s can recognize
each other. This along with an algorithm to mute non-K3 signals, so we can
work them first :-)
Barry W2UP
Wat is involved, technically in performing the upgrade - is it simply
swapping out a board?

How about when NOT in split, the display flashes UPLID, alternating with the
frequency? :-)

this interfered with contesting! I can play a
little piano by ear, but never took lessons - one of my regrets... I recall
having this CW/music discussion with K1AR and others at the contesting suite
in Dayton many years ago - just about everyone in the group had some musical
ability.

I read a story a few days ago about a Tesla Easter egg, displaying the James
Bond Lotus submarine-car with the correct keystroke entry on the control
screen. Are there any Easter eggs programmed into the K3?

All this talk about better numbers is great, but has anyone done a side by
side comparison of on the air differences? That's what I'd like to hear
about.

For how long does the K3 transmit at 50W in the calibration procedure?
If it's just a few seconds, will a 10W dummy load handle it?

Thanks guys. That's what I was looking for.
Brian, I'm not sure which is worse - getting yelled at by the pileup cops,
or calling someone, wondering why you're not getting thru, then noticing
split is ON from the last time the radio was on :.)

Another option forking simply working DXpeditions on RTTY is programming the
memories.
I have my call x 3 in one memory and TU 599 DE W2UP in another.

it's very convenient to quickly move around without pressing lots of
buttons.
I also have sored each band in the quick memories, 1-9. The only problem I
have with those is recalling which one is which. Any tips on that?

Is it possible to transit audio recorded with the KDVR?

Found it in the KDVR (separate) docs, not in the K3 manual:
Press the XMIT button before holding AF PLAY, or the PTT button on your mic.
