Subject: [Elecraft] K3's
This idea is right on the money, Wayne.
I use simple dipoles with tuned feeders,
and have to manually throw the slide switch
from one band to the next. This idea would
be a real help in automating my contest
station.
Thanks and 73

I have a nice 8640, which is an excellent signal generator.
However, I'm interested in sweeping filters with it.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get it to sweep,
or are we stuck with manual tuning?
Thanks and 73

Don't let the Sheriff hear that.
He'll want it for himself.

Hello Tedd
The problem is your external SWR meter is just that,
external. The KAT3 provides a 1:1 match to the
K3, that is, between the KAT3 and the K3 TX. Your
external unit is on the unmatched side of the KAT3
and, of course, sees no change.
Trust the KAT3 to get the job done, and set aside
Hello Rolf
Look at this web site for info on the Flag and Pennant receiving
loops. They really work.

With an Elecraft radio, you can do some surprising things.
In a contest, I can operate close to high power stations that
have a clean signal, yet sometimes they can't handle having
even my 5w K2 close by their receive frequency. That's
the beauty of a great receiver. The K3 appears to be even
Right on. QRP to the front.
Watch the elbows, I'm coming through.

Hi Parker
I think it depends on the noise source. If it comes from one
direction, a loop antenna can be rotated to place its null on the
noise source, improving the signal to noise ratio for the signals
coming from other directions.
On the other hand, if your noise is more pervasive, and turning
Hi Ed
Yes, both my K2s behave the same way.
Here all my activity is below about 1925 kHz,
so I peak my tuning somewhere areound

Hope to work you on the band.

Is there any adjustment to this delay?
I think the K2's delay is a bit longer,
for example.

Look for an errata sheet for the K160RX.
Turns out that the CAL PLL is done on 40m only these days.

Hi Matt
The K40 output probably looks like a handkey.
Go into the menu and select handkey instead
of paddles and you should be ok.
Good luck and 73
