My first experience with DSP was using my FT-847. It is OK but not
spectacular. I mainly operate VHF+ and mostly eme so that is a
different thing than HF. The FT-847 is audio DSP so that limits it
right away. DSP filters are fixed in CW: 400-200-100-25 Hz. NR
worked OK on SSB. NB was not

Ken,
I bought my K3 specifically for VHF+ weak signal operation. Mostly
that is eme. So I am going thru the station conversion process to
integrate the K3 into my eme system. I chose Downeast Microwave
transverters for getting on 144 and up. This is due to a long
history of using them
I like a microphone that has proper level and response so I don't need to
run gain up near full open and works with any rig without cranking the lows
up ten or 15 dB, thus the reason the reason my D104 has a source follower
that makes the mic output Z lower than the radio input Z so it appears
This is a question to the development team: are there any thoughts or
possibilities to add a USB port to the K3 or P3 which could introduce a
USB soundcard to the K3 like it is in the IC-7200 or the upcoming TS-
590s (?)

I have noticed the same thing, if I am understanding you correctly:
The key click sound in the audio is generated by your own keying;
It is present even if the K3 is in TEST mode.
It is evident only if the AF gain is turned up; otherwise, sidetone sounds

This is not an N1MM Logger issue; the same thing happens if you try to
do this (cross-band split) from the front panel.
The K3 does not support cross-band split using the SPLIT function. That
is, you cannot transmit from VFO B when the two VFOs are on different
bands. With VFO IND set to Yes,

The defensive hardware AGC is hardware AGC because you can see the entire

You can not transmit on VFO B if VFO B and VFO A are on
different bands. That is a limitation of the K3.

I don't trust the quality of an external soundcard of this price. It might be
sufficient for PSK31 but probably not for Winmor. The Signalink USB is good,
but not for 20 bucks.
I have not heard of a problem with the DSP in the IC-7200 or 7600.
From what I have heard this is not a real soundcard

Warren,
Great to hear that you have had success with the preamp.
However, the sensitivity of a properly working K2 on 15, 12 and 10
meters is sufficient to make a -136 dBm or lower level signal stand out
well above (greater than 3 dB) the internal noise of the K2. I have
measured many,

Jim,
Your last post indicated that you were using a SignalLink to drive the
K3. The transmit audio level from the Signallink is attenuated for
driving a microphone input - if you are using the K3 Line Input, there
may not be adequate drive.
The K3 Line Input level expects a level that is
