Luverly, just luverly. In that event, before I disconnected anything, I 
would, if they can be exercised at all, and verify with a o-scope what 
every wire actually did.  Or see if anyone else may have more accurate 
docs.

That's why I'm here.

Now any hardware recommendations?  I like the Masa cards, I was
thinking a 4i65/8/9, a 7i33 and two 7i37TAs or instead of the 4i65 a
7i80.

There are still some mysteries to solve; what's the exact pin-out of
the servo amps? and how is the spindle controller connected?  In
digging through the wiring I notice it dosn't match the documentation I
have.

Dave,
we have a server domain www.kontent.de which hosts our accounts, look it 
up. I don't know where the firm is situated, supposedly here in Germany. 
I still have a ISDN telephone line although the German Telekom tends to 
abolish them all, but can't everywhere because of bad and long telephone 
lines (ours is more than 7 km) with high signal suppression. Now, German 
Telekom is gradually digging better cables so we expect to get fast DSL 
by next year. I don't know how things will be developing then. Anyway, 
since nobody knows our domain we receive almost no spam nor spoof.

Heres what I know

The pinouts are available in Fanuc manuals, The older drives use Honda 
connectors, the newer use .050 pitch high density connectors but have similar 
interfaces until they get to FSSB interfaced drives

The older drives are analog +-10V velocity mode (up to -6057 I beleive )

Your (-6058) drive is digital (three phase PWM in and 2 channels of +- ~5V 
analog motor current sense for 2 phases out) PWM frequency is low as the 
output devices are bipolar transistors (Either 4 or 8 KHz)

I had considered making a specific daughtercard with the correct connectors
and local velocity feedback but never really had the time.
  I can dig up the pinout if you wish

Who hosts your domain?   Here in the US most DSL providers no longer 
allow a SMTP server on their networks so although I can setup a Pop mail 
server
to receive mail, I can't send mail without using a SMTP server external 
to my actual hardware server.This was done supposedly to minimize 
spam coming from their network, but I think it has been ineffective 
other than to inhibit legitimate users of their services.

I definitely wish!!

I'v been searching for the manuals for a while, how do I get them? Even
the Johnford manual seems to be for a slightly different model.

I'm going to try to scope the signals on the amps, I'll let you know
what I find.

Sorry Gregg, in a bad mood, my back is killing me after 6 hours at the local 
radio station last night, trying to keep a 60+ yo transmitter on the air.  Even 
chinese parts are becoming hard to find.

I did find them on fleabay but had to word the search carefully, bought 4 of 
the 5 he had. For the US version of the K-360/$10 a copy. Boat must be a junk, 
running under sail power from the looks of the estimated delivery date of 1 
June. :)

Why? They don't get stripped when I post them as I'll demo below.  Yet 
another advantage of using yahoo? Irritating thier customers sure seems

the net thru eith my ISP's mail server, or in this case thru the tv

least two paths to the big pipe.

So the commercial folks like yahoo, hotmail, aol or gmail, never have a 
chance to make html out of my text and then screw it up by stripping the 
html.  So what you see IS what I typo'd or miss-spelled from this 
keyboard. :)

For instance:

the call sign of the nearest airport's weather machine so that gkrellm, 
if you have the weather plugin installed, can give you a weather report 
that is not more than 15 minutes old.  I can get it at shorter intervals 
but why abuse that server?

post disappears for any reason except the servers msg size limit, it 
would be the last post I'd ever make thru that service.  And it is not 
open for discussion.  I can and have, posted 250+ kilobytes worth of

Stripping an 150 byte html address from an email is unforgivable.  Thats 
censorship, pure and simply said.

Gentlemen,
I wonder why everybody makes a fuss of mail providers or the like. 
Together with a friend, we made up our own domain many years ago, and we 
never had any problem mailing and sending anything with attachments of 
unlimited size to and from there. We host about 15 mail accounts, all 
friends and relatives. This costs us about 20 Euros per year. In 
addition, we have more than 2 GB web space per acount. Anyone can do that.

After looking at the interface between the controller and the servo amp
I realize that what we call the servo amp isn't its just the power
transistors and the current sens circuit the rest of the servo is in
the axis control board of the controller so this is a whole different
project.

Peter, I could make a board with the drivers and an ADC but how much of
a project would it be to program the FPGA to do the servo control? I've
done some PLD programming but have never written Verilog or VHDL.
