I'm running Ubuntu 6.06 + EMC2 on a Commel mini-ITX LV-602B I bought on ebay
for 50Eur some time ago:
http://www.commell-sys.com/Product/SBC/LV-602.htm
with 256 Mb of RAM and a PIII at 1.1 GHz it works Great! Onboard video works
very well and I never got a realtime error with this board.

Hello,
now it works,
just three suggestions:
1) add spindle speed field and add a M3 SXXX at the beginning. If we don't
start the spindle, facing is not possible ;)
2) Change the Cutting Speed IPM lable in Cutting Speed IPM or mm/min so if
one is using mm knows that the field indicates

Hello,
here is a slightly out of date example:

I think now (but I don't remember if they are in the official version or only
in the trunk) there are new HALUI pins that allows you to do the same in a very

just by installing emc2-dev, not by recompiling all of emc2 from source.

Right, I've used it (and it's a GREAT utility! Thanks to them who developed
it!).
Just install the emc2-dev package using synaptic and you will
Well, it is hard to say, I think there is a limit to the base period (at
least I saw that in my machines) and it is about 1 to 15000 ns. If I
decrease it, everything froze. Said that, an approximated formula that gives
you an idea of the needed base period is:
BASE_PERIOD = 1 / (
However, I see application for the much simpler Interactive work. My
example would be a 3 axis mill, om which I want to do a simple set of
tasks like face off some stock, drill a bolt circle, then maybe mill a
couple circular pockets around it. Yes, one could go to the CAD system,
draw it all,
I tried and used the TCL preprocessor and I think it does the same things as
O-Word, but it has far more possibilities and it is really more readable
than O-Word, but O-word is read internally by the interpreter while with the
TCL preprocessor and the filter for .gcl files a complete G-code

And the second (M102) will be like that:
#! /bin/bash
halcmd setp parport.0.pin-08-out 2
Obviously the command is wrong...it will be:
halcmd setp parport.0.pin-08-out 0
sorry for mistyping...

If I remember, the file tort.ngc was generated by a python script named

But I don't remember if that script is included with the official release of

Hi,
then try to do show pin from halcmd and see if the pin halui.program.run pin
exist.
It is possible that some of the halui pins you see in the documentation are
not yet available in the official release but only in the last development
version.
After that, I will ask for you in the chat, or
to update to the 2.1.5 release instead to use
the old 2.1

Hi,
I proposed the problem of manual tool change and offset determination some
time ago, I have a small mill (always an MF70) without tool holders, so I'm
very interested.
I'm happy to see there is a first solution for the problem now.
Maybe I will be able to test it in a couple of days.
The first is how to make a new configuration file visible when first
starting the emc script (./emc) in the configuration browser. I copied the
standard stepper files (under the configs/stepper directory) into a new
directory configs/myConfig, but they are not visible.
if you copy a
Hello,
The CD can be used as a LIVE CD...this means that you can try Ubuntu and
EMC2 in a Live mode without modifiying your system. Just boot your PC with
the CD in the drive (and set your bios to boot from CD).
I don't know if you can easily install EMC2 on Suse (I don't think so...at

I had the same problem yesterday!

why if I set a value for jog-scale from a .hal file, using for example:

My advice is: buy an used IBM on ebay...a T42 will do its work very well.
You will find them in a range from 300$ to 500$ depending on configuration
and conditions and warranty status.
In my opinion, and for my experience (right now I'm using a IBM T42, and
I've always used IBM laptops...) these
Hi, my compliments for the project and the webpage, very nice.
The Kress spindle can machine aluminium without any problem. Of course you
should use the right mills. If you want something more advanced, you could
try High Frequency spindles...but you will need a HF driver and the whole
system
Well, here is the ELTE (an italian factory) home page:
http://www.eltesrl.com/
Of course I think on google you can find a lot more HF spindles...so you can
choose the one that is best suitable for your application.

Just add a - before the INPUT SCALE value of the axes you need (should be
Axis_1 for Y and Axis_2 for Z) in your .ini configuration file (for
example...if it is 100, change it to -100).
