E2K Quirkiness

2001-08-20 Thread Robert Moore

On Friday we did a successful upgrade from Exchange 5.5 SP3 to Exchange
2000 SP1. (Thanks, those of you who chipped in with advice.) One
quirkiness has surfaced, though. We had a distribution list (Everyone)
that included everyone at the school. That list was not replicated to
the new server. However, when I tried to re-create it from scratch, I
get the message that it already exists. You can't mail to it, but
somehow Exchange thinks it does exist.

In any case, I just created a new one and called it Everybody. So I'm
mostly just curious to know if anyone has any idea about where
Everyone has gone.

Thanks,
Rob

Try running the KCC[1].

I don't need to restore it. What happened is when he moved it made a second
folder and put a one after it. All I need to do is delete this folder. I
gave my self owner privileges and tried to delete it but I get the error may
not have appropriate privileges see owner or administrator. I in trying to
delete this through exchange I can click on the folder but the delete icon

about because a user dragged a folder from Folder list to

RE: Removing the first server in a site

What do you mean by accessing schedules? Do you mean free/busy info or do

Subject: Removing the first server in a site

I'm preparing to remove the first server in our Exchange site. I've read and
done most everything indicated in Q152959 except for actually deleting the
old server.

I shut down the server this weekend but didn't remove it from the site. I
was able to open various schedules and it was able to access others
free/busy time with the server down.

However this morning we started getting calls from users who couldn't open
schedules they normally open with Outlook. It wasn't universal though many
users had no problems accessing schedules. There were many cases where some
users could open a calendar that others couldn't

After failing to find a way to fix this, I brought the old server online and
all the access problems went away.

Any ideas on what may be causing this?

I find it really amusing that the reason people tend to answer FAQ
RTFM questions, like the one I (guiltily) posted last evening, with
remarks like some of those below is to discourage erroneous messages
from cluttering up a very valuable resource (this list)..and yet
those same folks continuously babble on about it . Thus cluttering
up the list even more.

Enough said. That's the last you'll hear on the topic from me...and

clutter at this point.

IMS Limits incorrect?

2001-08-20 Thread Scott Perley-TM

Hi All,

Have any of encountered issues where the limits through an IMS is different
than what is actually set? We have a limit of 10MB (1Kb) set on both
our IMS boxes but we cannot send anything larger than 7.5 Mb. If we bump up
the limit to 20Mb we are able to send our 10Mb messages.

I didn't find anything obvious in technet and wanted to check with you all
before calling MS support. We are running Exchange 5.5 Enterprise Edition
with SP4.

Thanks,
Scott Perley

RE: IMS Limits incorrect?

2001-08-20 Thread Martin Blackstone

The encoding process when sending attachments adds about a 25% overhead
to a file.
I'm not sure if the IMS takes that into account. You might try setting
the limit at 13MB and see if you can pass a 10MB file then.

RE: Removing the first server in a site

2001-08-20 Thread Parker Race

What do you mean by accessing schedules? Do you mean free/busy info or do
you mean opening somebody's calendar that resides in their mailbox?

By schedules I meant opening calendars for users that are set up to be
used as group schedules. There were no problems with accessing free/busy
info that I'm aware of.

Exchange 2000 Question

2001-08-20 Thread Crumbaker, Ron

I just moved everyone of my users to our new Exchange 2000 Server.

How do you make Exchange send an email to the Exchange Administrator or
some other mailbox for mail that was not addressed correctly.

For example, if someone send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] rather than [EMAIL PROTECTED]
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] I want to be able to forward this mail
to the correct person.

In Exchange 5.5, I was able to do this, but I can't seem to find this
setting in Exchange 2000.

Clients are using Outlook 2000.

Thank you,

Server sizing

2001-08-20 Thread Olivier de Heer

Dear anyone,

Our backbone server has had difficulties for the last two weeks. E-mail is
queuing up and eventually the MTA can’t handle its load and stops. There
are 60 sites connected that are producing the necessary e-mail and
directory replication traffic. We’ve also set up a Connector for Lotus
Notes that replicates directory information from 18K+ Notes users into the
Exchange environment every day at midnight.
Personally I think our current hardware isn’t good enough anymore and
needs to be replaced. But how can I convince my management?
Our current configuration:
Compaq Proliant 3000R M6/300-1 512 cache 64/1 (Pentium II/66/300Mhz)
Array-controller Compaq PCI smart-2/p, 32-bit incl
7 X 4.3Gb UW-SCSI hot pluggable 1 C: partition Raid 0, D: partition Raid
5
2 X 64 Mb EDO (60-NS Dimm)
Does anyone know certain hardware specifications for dedicated connector
servers?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Olivier

Outlook 2000 Calendar Question

2001-08-20 Thread Carol Theis

I work at a school and we would like to use a public calendar for
tracking class period specific events. Is there any way I can change the
times that display on a public calendar to correspond to the start times
of our class periods? I looked everywhere and cannot find how to do
this. I can see how to increase/decrease the time scale, but I cannot
find anything on how to set the time scale to 43 minutes starting at
8:25 am -- I'm beginning to believe it isn't possible. Thanks.

Exchange 2000 Upgrade Question

2001-08-20 Thread Kastner, Bill

We are currently in the planning stages of upgrading our Exchange
organization from 5.5 to 2000. During this process we are looking at
changing the organization name. Because we have 30 Exchange servers
worldwide and want to minimize impact on the existing infrastructure, we are
wondering how best to go about changing the Org name.

If we setup Exch2000 as a new Org then people in either Org will be unable
to access Public Folders, Calendars between Orgs (is this correct?). Is
there a way to have Exch2000 join the existing 5.5 Org, and once all servers
are upgraded to Exch2000 rename the Org? Or is there a better way to go
about this upgrade?

I am curious as to what scenarios others have tried as I am sure this can't
be a unique situation.

Thanks in advance.

Event ID: 9215 Error and IMC Question

2001-08-20 Thread Kastner, Bill

Hi Everyone,

I have 2 issues currently that I can't seem to resolve, so thought I'd post
to the group for some insight. First, I am running Exchange 5.5 SP4 on
Win2000 SP1.

Here are my issues:

1) Periodically, I get the following event log entry. When it starts, I will
get an entry every 30-60 seconds for a couple hours, then they stop again. I
have searched Technet, but haven't found a resolution to this. The article I
found (Q170056) didn't really apply (from what I can tell). We are not using
DHCP, and it states a socket error 10061 means connection was refused, but I
don't get that socket #.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeMTA
Event Category: Operating System
Event ID: 9215
Date: 8/20/2001
Time: 10:38:08 AM
User: N/A
Computer: EXCHSRVR
Description:
A sockets error 0 on a connect() call was detected. The MTA will attempt to
recover the sockets connection. Control block index: 9. [BASE IL TCP/IP DRVR
8 262] (12)

2) We have 2 separate Exchange 5.5 SP4 sites (one on Win2K, one on NT 4.0
SP6a) here in our office which are part of the same Org. Each is responsible
for mail for specific domains. I am looking to consolidate the 2 sites into
one, and move the mailboxes from one server to the other. Our firewall
re-directs traffic for each domain to the specific Exchange server.

I've added the domain suffix (companyx.com) to the IMC on our Exchange
server we want to keep, and have tried re-directing the firewall to point
the mail to the new server, but it bounces with a 550 Domain Invalid
message. The IMC is handling 3-4 other domains no problem. I don't
understand why this one is giving me problems. Is there an issue with 2 IMCs
in an Org accepting the same e-mail domains? Any other ideas as to why this
would fail?

Any assistance on either matter would be appreciated.

New Exchange Server 2000 install and prob with inbox rule

2001-08-20 Thread Jason Gilbert

We just migrated our 5.5 mailboxes over to our new 2000 server and the
only problem I seem to be having is with our inbox rules. Our client
stations are all running Outlook XP and the one particular rule that
doesn't seem to fire at all, involves inbound email with attachments.

So, the rule goes like this, if any new message arrives with an
attachment the server should reply using a specific message. Yet the
rule does not seem to fire at all, and yet other rules are.

Any ideas???

Thanks

Thanks for those that read this even though its OT. It's a quickie...
I need to block access to the internet from my pc, but be
 able to use it
when *I* want to. ( Parent kid issue).
Zone alarm would be perfect, but if I use it to do not
 allow IE to access
the internet, all that needs to be done is open ZA, and
 click allow it.
If ZA could be password protected it would be perfect. Anyone
 have a link or
suggestion? Does Programs like Net nanny do this or just
 limit WHERE they
 can go?
 Thanks!

Splitting an Exchange 5.5 Organisation

2001-08-20 Thread Andy Russell

I have a fairly interesting problem to predict the outcome of

my companies exchange organisation - org-x has 4 sites;
sites A, B, C and D

Sites A and B are based in the States and were created as the first sites
when the organisation was set up. The public folder tree originates from
a server on one of these sites.

I am based in the UK and look after Sites C and D which were created
later.

Whole organisation is Exchange 5.5, there are 9 servers in total within
sites C and D with over 3000 clients.

Our parent company in the States is switching to Notes and wants to turn
off their entire Exchange infrastructure within 2 months.

My question is what will happen if sites A and B go offline? And what
can I do about it in the meantime to preserve my exchange sites C and D.

We have our own IMC in sites C and D and site connectors linking C and D
together so we are pretty much self contained. We're also not bothered
about internal mail from sites A and B as that will travel via internet
in the future.

Is the way forward going to be as simple as changing the 'first site
server' from a server in sites A or B to a server in site C? Or is there a
more significant server which defines the Exchange organisation? Is it
feasible to transplant our sites to a new organisation? Or is the exchange
organisation structure replicated down to all sites so sites can go off
line permanently without any side effects?

Any thoughts, comments, useful web URL's gratefully received.

Many thanks

Outlook calendar question

2001-08-20 Thread Carol Theis

I work at a school and we would like to use a public calendar for
tracking class period specific events. Is there any way I can change the
times that display on a public calendar to correspond to the start and
end times of our class periods? I looked everywhere and cannot find how
to do this -- I'm beginning to believe it isn't possible. Thanks.

Mailbox resources problem - Item Count are Incorrect

2001-08-20 Thread Larry

Help!!! I have and exchange 5.5 server with service pack 4 installed. I
have several users that are getting a message stating that their mailbox
is full. I have deleted their inbox, sent items and deleted items in
outlook. However, when I look at the mailbox resource in exchange it show
that they still are at their limit. Rebooting the server has no effect. I
found a patch at MS (Q248838engi.exe) but it did not help.

Perhaps their mailbox is still full? Use the mailbox size tool to determine

I have a client with Exchange 5.5 sp2 on a NT server.
  There are four
users, and they all have accounts with the exchange server
   via outlook

connect via
a static I/P address (a static entry for DNS and a
gateway/router). One
of the two users have problems connecting to the exchange
  (this is a
local exchange on the LAN) server. Should I set up a wins

a DNS server? The reason I am asking is that he can't
 resolve the
exchange server's name to an I/P address.

NBTSTAT is used to examine all things NetBIOS on your machine - including
NetBIOS name cache (nbtstat -c, I believe)

NETSTAT is used to look at the TCP/IP connections.

Neither has a darn thing to do with DNS.

All I can tell you, Rick (notwithstanding your place of
 employment), is that
when we were having DNS issues, Outlook didn't work very
 well. It would take
at least 2 or 3 minutes for it to open, and quite often
 navigating between
inbox folders experienced the same delay. WINS was working
 fine, and pinging
servers by name was no problem. When I created a HOSTS file with the
Exchange server names in it and did an nbtstat -R, Outlook
 behaved just
fine. Of course, once DNS was fixed, things were fine as
 well. WINS and
NetBios did come into play, but only after DNS resolution
 timed out and
 failed.

If you #PRE tag the Lmhosts entrys then they will get read
 before DNS or
HOSTS, since they'd already be loaded in the NetBios Cache Table.

5.5 doesn't care how the client resolves the name. Only the
 client cares,

With 5.5 the client needs to resolve the NetBios name.

Easy to check, run nbtstat -a Server_Name Note the a
 must be lower

RE: New Exchange Server 2000 install and prob with inbox rule

2001-08-20 Thread Couch, Nate

Is the rule on a Public Folder or mailbox? If on a mailbox is the template
stored locally on a C drive? If stored locally that is likely your problem
since I have seen many instances where templates stored locally will cause a
rule to not fire. My resolution was to create a PF and put the template on
the server. This worked like a champ.

Subject: New Exchange Server 2000 install and prob with inbox rule

We just migrated our 5.5 mailboxes over to our new 2000 server and the
only problem I seem to be having is with our inbox rules. Our client
stations are all running Outlook XP and the one particular rule that
doesn't seem to fire at all, involves inbound email with attachments.

So, the rule goes like this, if any new message arrives with an
attachment the server should reply using a specific message. Yet the
rule does not seem to fire at all, and yet other rules are.

 Any ideas???

I have a client with Exchange 5.5 sp2 on a NT server.
  There are four
users, and they all have accounts with the exchange server
   via outlook
98, or outlook 2000. There are two people who have internet
connect via
a static I/P address (a static entry for DNS and a
gateway/router). One
of the two users have problems connecting to the exchange
  (this is a
local exchange on the LAN) server. Should I set up a wins
server and or
a DNS server? The reason I am asking is that he can't
 resolve the
exchange server's name to an I/P address.

Nope, there isn't a box that just receives all mail with misspelled smtp

this violates the letter, or just the spirit, of pertinent RFCs. The
best way I found to accomplish this was to go get another messaging
product that does it[1] and forward all your unresolved mail to that

virtual smtp server, then the messages tab, then forward all

On the same page, you'll find where your badmail directory is. You can
have a flunkee sift through that, if you like. That way, the sender
still gets an NDR telling them that there is no [EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: Splitting an Exchange 5.5 Organization

2001-08-20 Thread John Matteson

In General; any public folders you want to keep need to be rehomed into Site
C or D.
Make sure your SMTP/IMC can route to all your internal address that will
remain after the split.

Will the two sides be talking to each other? Do you need to be able to
search the Notes directory for user addresses?

Subject: Splitting an Exchange 5.5 Organisation

I have a fairly interesting problem to predict the outcome of

my companies exchange organisation - org-x has 4 sites;
sites A, B, C and D

Many thanks

Andy Russell

Dear anyone,

Our backbone server has had difficulties for the last two weeks. E-mail is
queuing up and eventually the MTA can't handle its load and stops. There
are 60 sites connected that are producing the necessary e-mail and
directory replication traffic. We've also set up a Connector for Lotus
Notes that replicates directory information from 18K+ Notes users into the
Exchange environment every day at midnight.
Personally I think our current hardware isn't good enough anymore and
needs to be replaced. But how can I convince my management?
Our current configuration:
Compaq Proliant 3000R M6/300-1 512 cache 64/1 (Pentium II/66/300Mhz)
Array-controller Compaq PCI smart-2/p, 32-bit incl
7 X 4.3Gb UW-SCSI hot pluggable 1 C: partition Raid 0, D: partition Raid
5
2 X 64 Mb EDO (60-NS Dimm)
Does anyone know certain hardware specifications for dedicated connector
servers?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Olivier

This is again in the FAQ. (See a trend here with your questions??)

Anyway, you need to add the Secondary-Proxy-Addresses column to your CSV
and put the additional addresses there.

RE: Server sizing

2001-08-20 Thread Linton Smith (WBTQ)

My guess is that it might be a little underpowered. However, there are
things you can do to both improve your current system and pinpoint the
actual bottleneck.

Optimizations:
* Given that it is a directory replication bridgehead for a large
number of sites, ensuring that the transaction logs for the directory
service are on a separate set of spindles from DIR.EDB will help.
* Connectors use the IS extensively, so the same would hold true for
PRIV.EDB and it's logs.
* You definitely need more memory. 512MB would be a good place to
start.
* Review the directory replication and public folder replication
schedules. The defaults can tax bridgehead servers - consider winding these
down where possible.
* If you find that the CPU is the bottleneck (see below), add a second
CPU to your 3000.

Bottleneck Determination
* Use Performance Monitor. Exchange 5.5 comes with some pre-defined
monitors - the Server Health monitor in particular should quickly
demonstrate if memory and CPU are the problem.

Subject: Server sizing

Olivier

RE: Mailbox resources problem - Item Count are Incorrect

2001-08-20 Thread Thomas Di Nardo

You might check the file size from the root of the mailbox (using
Outlook). I've seen people dropping messages with huge attachments in
the Outlook Today folder (or worse yet, setting up rules to do it for
them). They may also have large attachments in messages they've dragged
into their Calendar.

To get rid of them, you'll need to use a copy of Exchange client.

Help!!! I have and exchange 5.5 server with service pack 4 installed.
I
have several users that are getting a message stating that their mailbox
is full. I have deleted their inbox, sent items and deleted items in
outlook. However, when I look at the mailbox resource in exchange it
show
that they still are at their limit. Rebooting the server has no effect.
I
found a patch at MS (Q248838engi.exe) but it did not help.

RE: NDR Problem

2001-08-20 Thread Gatlin, Kevin A(WASH D. C. SA-34)

I was hoping for a more technical answer. I was not trying to complain about
the actions of the doctor more so than the outcome of the incident. The
doctor incident was just a for instance. I would think that stopping any
or all NDR attachments from returning would be a good thing. The attachment
does not help with troubleshooting.

In general, is there any mechanism to strip the attachments from NDRs? As
large as my agency is and the limited bandwidth we have to most of our
embassies and consulates around the world - every little bit helps.

Microsoft had a possible solution that I tested - unsuccessfully.

This can be done by performing the following:

1. Run the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program in raw mode:
   admin.exe /r
2. Expand the Site, Configuration, and Servers containers and select the
servername that you want to view the raw properties of. The servername
you are running the Administrator program against will be bolded.
3. From the File menu, click Raw Properties.
4. In the Object attributes list box, select Heuristics and note the value.
As an example, let's say it is 911.
5. Run the Windows NT Calculator and convert that value to binary. In this
case the binary value for 911 is 111000. The 9th bit from right to
the
left (the 256 value) is set to the value of one. This means it is an
Exchange
   DMS Server.

Similarly when looking at the heursitics value for a commercial Exchange
Server, 671, and converting it to binary format, 101001, the 9th bit
from
right to left is 0. This means it is a commercial Exchange Server.

If no one has a possible solution, thank you for your time.

Subject: NDR Problem

I tried to research this problem in the archives before posting this but
found no solution to a problem we are having.

Scenario:

A doctor at one of our remote (slow link) sites sends a 10MB medical image
file to 20 other doctors on the Internet. Five of the addresses are
incorrect causing a return NDR. Well, he gets 5 separate NDRs all with
the
10MB attachment which of course clogs the WAN.

Environment:

Exchange 5.5 SP3
Windows NT 4 SP6a
ScanMail v3.6
MimeSweeper v???
MailRelay v???
Raptor FW

Question:

Is there any way to strip the attachments from the return NDRs? Either

Don't forget caustic and acerbic.

A copy of The Element's of Style might be in order, given the poor
punctuation and grammatical errors we're seeing of late.

RE: Mailbox resources problem - Item Count are Incorrect

2001-08-20 Thread Martin Blackstone

Some folks also don't understand that subfolders also count against the
size.
They think if they clean out the inbox and sent items folder that they
are fine, but that isn't the case. Every folder in the tree counts
against the size.

have several users that are getting a message stating that their mailbox
is full. I have deleted their inbox, sent items and deleted items in
outlook. However, when I look at the mailbox resource in exchange it
show that they still are at their limit. Rebooting the server has no
effect. I found a patch at MS (Q248838engi.exe) but it did not help.

What's your favorite thing that ESM does, or allows you to do easily? And,

In order to save everyone else from boredom, send replies to

Remember that the 10MB limit refers to the message size AFTER conversion to
SMTP formatting. Hence, if you have a 10MB file BEFORE conversion it will
be over your IMS limit AFTER conversion.

 Hi All,

Have any of encountered issues where the limits through an IMS is
 different
than what is actually set? We have a limit of 10MB (1Kb) set on both
our IMS boxes but we cannot send anything larger than 7.5 Mb. If we bump
 up
the limit to 20Mb we are able to send our 10Mb messages.

I didn't find anything obvious in technet and wanted to check with you all
before calling MS support. We are running Exchange 5.5 Enterprise Edition

2001-08-20 Thread Scharff, Chris

The currently broken link shouldn't be required for the task described. We
prefer to think of the FAQ answers in question as brief rather than vague.
When combined with a search of the archives those two questions yield a
plethora of hits, which might be of amazing help to the industrious.

RE: Move Server questions

2001-08-20 Thread Curry, Kristin

Hi Scott:

We ran the move server wizard on 3 servers in June using the SP4 version of
the Wizard. We moved an Exchange 5.5 organization into an existing one due
to a company acquisition. Definitely read the documentation / Readme file
that came with the wizard b/c it was very good and basically laid out the
most common issues both client and server side.

Since we ran this to bring another organization into our own (not in the
same org like yours looks to be), not all this may apply, but thought I'd
reply anyway.

Regarding profiles - yes they will need to be re-created (or at least go
into the Cntrl Panel, Mail icon to take out the name and add it back in).
The server based Rules will be re-created after reopening the profile, but
it will not recreate shortcuts, *.pst locations, additional mailboxes, etc.
Because of the number of users we had, we used a 3rd party utility called
Profile Maker that modified the existing profile so you don't lose this
info and you can use it via logon script. This was cheap and caused less
headache in comparison to the number of users we had. There's also a MS
free utility that can create profiles automatically based on their logon ID.
So if their logon ID matches their alias name you can do this via logon
script. As another FYI: after the wizard, a user must open their calendar
in order for their colleagues to see the free/busy info.

As far as the connectors, when you run the wizard it will tell you which
connectors you have to remove in order to run the wizard (it won't let you
continue without it). You have to remove the IMC if it's on the server
you're performing the wizard on and I think we had to remove the site
connectors too if I remember correctly. The documentation was good on this.
And it may make a difference due to the fact we had 2 diff. organizations.

Also, pay attention to the SMTP addresses in the documentation as well. It
will automatically take on the @domainname that you use in the organization
you're moving it to.

In general - the Exchange server stuff went easy and it was very
straightforward if you read everything in the documentation. The biggest
pain was the client side. As always, do some exports of your directory,
document all your current settings, and be sure your backups are
successful!!

Good luck,
Kristin

Subject:Move Server questions

I will performing my first Move Server Wizard (multi-server site to
multi-server site)in the next month or so and I have a couple questions. I
was reading some TechNet docs and one of them specifically talks about
moving from site to site. The author says that the client won't have to
recreate their profile because the server name isn't changing. But in my
lab tests this was not the case; Outlook was unable to connect and gave some
warning about the mailbox being unavailable. I redid the Check Name in the
profile and then it was fine, but it still required manual intervention. I
read in another doc somewhere that you WOULD have to recreate the profile.
Does anyone know for sure?

Also, the same TechNet article recommends removing the Site and DR
connectors. I don't want to do that because then I would lose all of my
inter-site members in each DL, not to mention lots of NDRs, etc. But I read
another article that said to leave the connectors intact (but obviously not
hosted on the server being moved). My lab tests worked fine with the
connectors left in place. Why would he be recommending to do that in the
first place?

Comments, complaints, suggestions?

Scott.

New Exchange Server 2000 install and prob with inbox rule

2001-08-20 Thread Jason Gilbert

Sorry, I just found a KB article that states where the Disable
Automatic Replies replies setting in Exchange Server 2000 is found.
Wow, I wouldn't have found that for quite sometime. It's pretty obscure.
I guess I just need to get used to where things are in 2000 now.

Thanks
Jason

We just migrated our 5.5 mailboxes over to our new 2000 server and the
only problem I seem to be having is with our inbox rules. Our client
stations are all running Outlook XP and the one particular rule that
doesn't seem to fire at all, involves inbound email with attachments.

So, the rule goes like this, if any new message arrives with an
attachment the server should reply using a specific message. Yet the
rule does not seem to fire at all, and yet other rules are.

Any ideas???

Thanks

Subject: Moving Exchange Users Data from Small Business Server 4.5 to
Small Business Server 2000

Hello,
I have a customer who is using Small Business Server 4.5 with Exchange
Server 5.5 sp4. I am setting up a new server with Small Business Server
2000, which has Exchange server 2000. How do I move all the exchange
users data from exchange 5.5 to exchange 2000??

RE: importing 2nd SMTP address

2001-08-20 Thread Paul Ramatowski

Fish?
Gimme an ulta-light, a beetle-spin, the James River, and a beer.
(Bass-O-Matic jokes anyone?)

Exchange?
Gimme details, MSKB, Google, the faq, archives and a few good books. Then
after it's over, a beer :)

Chris I'm sorry, thought I gave an answer that was short, sweet and pretty
much on the mark. Wasn't trying to crack wise, really!

Paul

The currently broken link shouldn't be required for the task described. We
prefer to think of the FAQ answers in question as brief rather than vague.
When combined with a search of the archives those two questions yield a
plethora of hits, which might be of amazing help to the industrious.

Teach a man to fish and all that.

I need to import 2nd smtp address (same domain, different username
 format).
I exported the recipient info, and am going to add it back
 in and I get an
error that an address of that type already exists. I am using SMTP:
So I need to use a different tag ? Isnt there also a switch
 when importing
to tell it to do all fields?

  TIA!

RE: Splitting an Exchange 5.5 Organization

2001-08-20 Thread Andy Russell

Thank you for you reply. There should be no need for internal connectivity
between our sites and Lotus when adopted by the States so I don't think
we'll even be running a Notes connector or any GAL replication between the
systems. This will hopefully be a clean break provided our two Exchange
sites in UK will keep running cleanly.

RE: Removing Exchange Site from it's organisation....

2001-08-20 Thread Andy Russell

Thank you for your reply, that's exactly what I hoped to hear. Just as
quick side question - do you know of any tools which will scan the
Exchange org. to look for 'primary site servers' just to make sure I've
got all the functionality onto our primary site server?
