Hellow experts,
The floppy driver on kernel-2.4.8-24mdk
does not work with my new ASUS P4T mb for
Pentium 4. The dmesg contains:

Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
floppy0: Floppy io-port 0x03f0 in use
ide-floppy driver 0.97

.
Any attemp to mount /dev/fd0 gives the error:
I downloaded the iso of 8.1 rc1, and used the

I used the binary for samba by michael from this list, and it worked fine,,
as a test, I copied a 200mb file to and from it from all of the other

perhaps you should do the same.. I also have mdk7.2, except I am still using

Hi all,
I finially figured out how to shut down gdm and all other servers just to

I'm trying to setup 2 NIC's in Mandrake 8.0 such that eth0 will
respond *only* to x.x.x.x and eth1 will respond *only* to y.y.y.y
Problem is, eth0 is currently responding to both x.x.x.x *and* y.y.y.y
and eth1 is responding to
canĀ“t you be more specific about the values of x.x.x.x and y.y.y.y ? I think
you may have some problem with subnet masks...

using alsaplayer I was able to listen to a music cd very low even with gnome

Yes, I would have to concur with the advise already rendered. If your
desire is to make a gateway/router machine configured with a firewall,
you need to have each nic on its own subnet with a different mask for
both nics. By not knowing your network typology, I can not make specific
suggestions.

I belive you can format a 1.2 mb floppy as a 1.44. You need to use
some good quality media like basf.
This was the only way to install dos 6.2 with a 5.25 drive. So if
dos could linux also should.
