already proficient in, give up their jobs, and
agree to work full-time for a salary that never
arrives in the mail. All of this so that they
can *not* teach, because the technique is priced
so high that no one sane would ever pay that much
   to learn it.

Well, duh. If your calling is to teach meditation
and the org you first signed up with actively
prevents you from teaching meditation, you go
where someone *will* allow you to teach.

You folks who never taught meditation are sometimes
awfully quick to demonize those who did, and want
nothing more than to continue doing so...

  Dear friend,
What Maharishi has done resently is a test. Just keep that
desire to teach lively within you and it will be fulfilled.
  Jai Guru Dev

You actually sound sincere (as opposed to your
normal condescension), so I will reply enough
to let you know that I personally have no
desire to ever teach TM again. But I know that
there are many who do, and are prevented from
 doing so by Maharishi.

If he really devised his current strategy as a
'test,' fuck him. His neurotic need to know
who is loyal to him is not more important than
 the world's need for meditation.

What do you know about his motifs ? Probably nothing. It could be
anything really, but my guess is that he just wanted to get rid of
some undesirable dead wood. I could be wrong and, ofcourse I'm not
pointing at you now :-)
I'm sure those that are patient and positive will get the
opportunity to teach again sometime in the future. And since much of
what Maharishi is doing is impossible to understand intellectually I
will not even try to predict when this could happen. It's all just
part of his Lila.

If only he would've found a simple, effortless form of meditation...http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/6/212006b.aspKansas Pastor Accuses New Age Group of Denying Its Religious NatureBy Natalie Harris June 21, 2006(AgapePress) - A Kansas pastor is raising concerns about a New Age group that he says refuses to acknowledge its religious ties. According to Evangelical Free Church pastor Greg Hubbard, the group attempting to build "peace palaces" in Smith Center, Kansas, is a Hindu missionary effort. The Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a man known to many as guru to the British band, the Beatles. Recently, according to an Associated Press report, a group of his followers announced plans to spend $15 million to build a dozen of its marble "peace palaces" in Smith County as part of an effort to disperse what it calls "waves of coherence" across as wide an area as possible. And, AP points out, in an apparent effort to maximize their area of influence, the TM practitioners have selected a spot just 10 miles west of the geographic center of the continental U.S.Under the direction of the Maharishi, the TM group known as Global Country of World Peace intends to build a broadcast center, a teaching center, and a "coherence-creating center." The organization, which promotes yoga and meditation, says it has no religious affiliation and one can practice these techniques while belonging to any faith.Pastor Hubbard seriously questions the group's claims, however. In April, he and other pastors sent a signed letter to the local newspaper stating that the TM group's members "are welcome" but must recognize that they and the church are at odds, "competing for the eternal souls of people." Neither freedom of religion nor property rights are at issue, he insists -- the blatant untruthfulness of the New Age group is.This latest construction plan marks the second time the Global Country of World Peace has tried to build in Smith Center, Hubbard points out. The Kansas clergyman says the group attempted to move in ten years ago but failed, mainly because of a lack of receptivity among the townspeople. The New Agers offered to hold town meetings to address area residents' discomfort, but many local citizens were merely confused by the unfamiliar terminology the group used. [ROFL!]After the Global Country of World Peace vacated and sold the land they had previously purchased, Hubbard and others found a cornerstone. He says the brick was inscribed with a symbol indicative of the Hindu deity Shiva and contained eight fake jewels, which represent Hindu deities. Also, he notes, the TM group has had a Hindu priest chanting for it, he notes."Basically, our objection is that this is a religion and a sect of Hinduism," the Christian clergyman says, "and they're not being honest and up front about that with people. We see that as a spiritual danger."While he does not hate these people, Hubbard says he and other townspeople are opposed to their teachings. "It could be any one of a number of divergent religious groups and we would still have the same problem," he explains. The Global Country of World Peace bought about 1,100 acres this spring for the purpose of building its "palaces" and growing organic produce, AP reports.Natalie Harris, a contributor to AgapePress, is a summer intern/reporter for American Family Radio News, which can be heard online.

  Kansas Pastor Accuses New
Age Group of Denying Its Religious Nature
  By Natalie HarrisJune 21, 2006
(AgapePress) - A Kansas pastor is raising concerns
about a New Age group that he says refuses to acknowledge its religious ties.
According to Evangelical Free Church pastor Greg Hubbard, the group attempting

The Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement was
founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a man known to many as guru to the British

practitioners have selected a spot just 10 miles west of the geographic center
  of the continental U.S.
Under the direction of the Maharishi, the TM group

teaching center, and a "coherence-creating center." The organization, which
promotes yoga and meditation, says it has no religious affiliation and one can

however. In April, he and other pastors sent a signed letter to the local

that they and the church are at odds, "competing for the eternal souls of
people." Neither freedom of religion nor property rights are at issue, he
insists -- the blatant untruthfulness of the New Age group
  is.
This latest construction plan marks the second time
the Global Country of World Peace has tried to build in Smith Center, Hubbard
points out. The Kansas clergyman says the group attempted to move in ten years
ago but failed, mainly because of a lack of receptivity among the townspeople.
The New Agers offered to hold town meetings to address area residents'

What is the old saying about weaving a web of deception? The
TMO moved in trying to deceive people and have been caught. Mistrust will always
be there now. MMY has always said "well begun is half done." Well, this is
really a bad beginning. Totally
inauspicious.

It is interesting to watch. Whenever there is a postive note
appearing regarding Maharishi or his teaching - the following posts
here on FFL will be flooded with old posts and comments, copied at
length. As if to put the positive post about Maharishi to the back as
quickly as possible.

When Maharishi postulated his ideas about the CIA infiltrating the
Movement in the '70s he commented that their agenda is; divide,
divide, divide.

And the americans think they live in a free society ? Hah ! Champions
of democracy ? Hah !

When the Berlin Wall, and communism as we know it, came down in 1989,
Maharishi said; The next to go is capitalism.

Thats the fate of the future.

Even CIA cannot prevent this from happening even though modern
capitalism is an american invention.

Meanwhile the americans are using massive funds to disrupt the free
flow of information. As in Afghanistan and Iraq.

This is what keeps me coming back to FFL! You just can't get this
kind of entertainment, which is so well tailored to the TMO
experience, anywhere else.

Wasn't the whole CIA thing compelling for its time? It sure helped
that MMY insisted that the initiators wear suits, so the more
comfortable someone looked in a suit (and the less blissed out), the
more it was possible that he wasa SPY

I didn't hang out so much with those who looked comfortable in their
suits so I don't know if they noticed much suspicion.

[FairfieldLife] Fever, transformation and the earth

2006-06-22 Thread Patrick Gillam
Anthroposophical medicine observes that many
childhood fevers help strengthen the immune
system and facilitate growth. If you have kids,
you may have noticed how much more grown
up and capable they would be after a day or
two of fever.

Well, the Washington Post is running a story
under the link, Earth May Be Running a Fever.
Here's the lede:

It has been 2,000 years and possibly much
longer since the Earth has run such a fever.
The National Academy of Sciences, reaching
that conclusion in a broad review of scientific
work requested by Congress, reported Thursday
that the `recent warmth is unprecedented for at
least the last 400 years and potentially the last
several millennia.'

(Read the whole story here: http://tinyurl.com/me7y5)

I think of global warming as a bad thing, but
the fever metaphor makes me wonder if it's a
crucial passage in our growth, just as fevers so
often are for children.

Interesting that the last period of such warmth
is 2,000 years ago or more, corresponding roughly
with Christ's era and the Axial Age – the period
from 800 BCE to 200 BCE when the spiritual
foundations of humanity were laid simultaneously
and independently. (Visit http://tinyurl.com/f93k2.)

Could this period of warming presage breakthroughs
similar to those of the Axial Age?

Just a thought.

The National Academy of Sciences, after reconstructing global average

Background:
The National Academies perform an unparalleled public service by
bringing together committees of experts in all areas of scientific and
technological endeavor. These experts serve pro bono to address
critical national issues and give advice to the federal government and
the public.

From the scientists I know, its quite prestigiuous to be called upon
to do studies for or testify or present work at the Academy. They get
the best and the brightest.

So the National Academy of Sciences, finds additional supporting
evidence ... that human activities are responsible for much of the

I wonder what the National Academy of Scientists Primarily Funded by

And whom to believe???

I'm not sure what the CIA's interest would be in this;
It does seem that the media will jump on anything negative about TM
and Maharishi's movement- mainly instigated by Christian
Fundementalist; they were originally behind the court case brought
against the movement in the seventies, when TM was being taught in
Public schools in New Jersey; which quickly put an end to TM being
taught in Public Schools.
Since then the Publin School system has deteriorated to the point
where cities like Detroit where only about 28% of students graduate on
schedule, or Baltimore where the figure is about 32%.
I think the main obstacle to any kind of progress has been poor
management from within the movement, and Christian Fundementalism,
from without...

Right. Krishnamurti described experiences of transcending, but they
happened from time to time spontaneously (although he spent hours
every day doing yoga asanas which caused him a great deal of
discomfort) -- he did not have a clue what TM is all about. He was
only able to have a few sporadic experiences of transcendence, and
never gained enlightenment. Krishnamurti thought he knew what the
day and hour of his death would be, but he was wrong (he died from
pancreatic cancer -- Krishnamurti had also said that no intelligent
person dies of cancer).

here on FFL will be flooded with old posts and comments, copied at
length. As if to put the positive post about Maharishi to the back as
  quickly as possible.

When Maharishi postulated his ideas about the CIA infiltrating the
Movement in the '70s he commented that their agenda is; divide,
  divide, divide...

He was just projecting...

On the Maharishi talks about other systems audio tape from Belgium
in March '74, someone came up to the mike and said: Maharishi, Swami
Prahbupada (of the Hari Krishnas) said that you were neither a
Maharishi, a Mahesh or a Yogi. And Maharishi replied (giggling):
Yeah, Krishnamurti said the same thing.

He seems rather critical of TM.

Of course, unlike Ann Coulter, Hitler was a socialist (like many on
 this forum):

Did Hitler use the term liberal? I thought he called people
communists. I
know to many the terms would be interchangable.

NaZi, of course, is short for National Socialist. His tiff with the
communists was an in-the-family fight within the socialist family, the
same way Trotsky fought with Stalin...they were off a little between
their ideologies but, to them, they were worlds apart. So Hitler
referred to the communists as Bolsheviks, I believe, rather than
communists.

Like the communists, Hitler and his socialists believed in central
control of the economy and the means of production.

Like Hitler, the father of Communism, Karl Marx, was a rabid anti-
semite and hated Blacks.

Many, many similarities.

Good answer. As a frind of mine (JA) would say, Pure Maharishi --and
add his own 5 minute chuckle.
