What corruption are we talking about in the TMO? sparaig

These folks were enumerating and I was just listening and didn't

like the TMO is just plain its own worst PR now with anything they
try to do to move forward without first reconciling these
outstanding things even just with its own meditators,

. There evidently are some really bad people up there on campus.

Who would want to be involved with them? These old meditators and
old TM teachers returning as recent arrivals seem not to becoming
here to the TMO. One of these couples started TM back in the 60's.
One of these people was initiated back then by Jerry Jarvis. They
pretty clearly were not coming because of the TMO but rather because
of the meditating community here. Fairfield obviously has become
something else beyond the TM thing as a spiritual place.

Turns out that these people got their copies of the FF Weekly

realtors . Independent and Different from the TMO now, what the
meditating community is doing otherwise it seems is the stronger
suit for selling people on Fairfield.

These folks were really pretty excited with what they were seeing
here as a place to re-locate to. These other places while nice to
visit, these folks are saying the West Coast is now way too
crowded

pretty
attractive by coomparison when they consider the per-

 easily affordable good ethnic food.

I watched someone last year relocate a retirement to Fairfield.
The
person came here, bought a real nice house for 60K, went back to
the

person at so many of the meetings just enjoying so much of what is
 here to be engaged by.

Still have to stop them piggies, though. They could definitely discourage

Nice. Thanks for the link. Reminds me of Emmylou Harris'

Few songs manage to capture the *feel* of the West; this
is definitely one. Interesting that it's by a Brit.

Speaking of all this noble loner in the wilderness stuffe,
if you don't know the Robert Redford film Jeremiah Johnson,
it is well worth your time. Redford plays the real-life
title character, as an Easterner who travels to the West to
become a trapper, knowing diddleysquat about how to survive
there. Fortunately, he runs into an old trapper who becomes
a kind of guru figure to him.

The basic plot is that Johnson, to save some pioneers' lives,
violates an Indian taboo and becomes a marked man. For many
years afterwards, there was always one -- and, because he was
big medicine, only one -- Indian assigned to stalk and kill
him. No matter where he went, no matter what he did, there
was always an Indian out there in the bushes waiting for the
opportunity to kill him. After years of this, Johnson runs
into his old mentor, and they share some beans around the
campfire and the old man says to his former apprentice,
You've come far, pilgrim. Was it worth it, all the trouble?

Redford, in one of the most Zen moments ever captured on
film, says, What trouble? One of my favorite moments
in movies.

And they know this because...?

What evidence is there that taking Vitamin C or other antioxidant
interferes with chemotherapy? Mechanism studies are _in vitro_,
which means they aren't on living subjects where complex, non-linear
interactions with literally unpredictable (when trying to extrapolate
from test tube studies) results are the rule. The reference that was
provided in this group was a to review that reports that there ARE
studies showing reductions in side-effects from taking anti-oxidants
during chemotherapy. There was also a study referenced in that review
that reported a potentially significant greater mortality rate for
people taking very large doses of pure vitamins during chemotherapy,
but since some vitamins, like E, are known to promote heart attacks
and other potentially fatal side effects in megadoses, this may have
had nothing to do with any chemotherapy interaction, but just with
run-of-the-mill overdose toxicity possibly combined with an overall
weakened system either from the chemo, or the cancer or both.

In other words, there's no evidence that reasonable dosing with
antioxidants during chemo is harmful, and while MAK's antioxidant
effects are quite powerful, side-effects are virtually unknown for
most people at the recommended dose of 1 heaping teaspoons twice a
day.

from test tube studies) results are the rule.

In other words, there's no evidence that reasonable dosing with
antioxidants during chemo is harmful, and while MAK's antioxidant
effects are quite powerful, side-effects are virtually unknown for
most people at the recommended dose of 1 heaping teaspoons twice a
 day.

Hey, do what you want, it's your life. You seem already sold, I don't
think anything anyone says is going to change your mind.

We were pretty happy that we could put 95% of people into remission.
It was a known counter-effect to the mechamism we were using--it was
not chemotherapy but a new method.

BTW, where is this study on the 95% effective treatment published?

You keep mentioning amla (sp) aka indian gooseberry as though it is

Yes indeed. However, oranges and many other fruits have this as well.
You have no living test subject evidence that rational useage of anti-
oxidants are harmful or counter-indicated for use by chemotherapy
patients. The only reference of possible harmful effects that I've
seen mentioned here is for people taking massive doses of vitamins
and minerals at a level that is already known to be detrimental to
the health of some people and the evidence was only marginally
significant, even then.

There are also published studies for MAK's use in relieving effects
of chemo-therapy in animals, and a preliminary study in humans, and
quite a few general studies have been published on the beneficial
effects of other anti-oxidants in human chemotherapy patients.

The recommended avoidance of anti-oxidants is based on the err on
the side of caution strategy of medical doctors. This is always
something to consider, but you've turned this cautious approach into
a blanket condemnation of what may be of benefit to many people.

And the benefits of megadoses of pure vitamins were found to be
suspect, which is often the case for any disease treated by vitamin
pills, even though it is well-established that these vitamins DO have
an effect when they come from natural sources. Note that apparently
none of these studies were on natural sources of these vitamins. And
of course, none were on MAK anyway.

Like I said, telling someone not to eat something due to a worry
about mechanism when there is ample evidence thatthere IS an in vitro
positive effect is silly.

BTW, the amount of tumeric found in MAK is tiny since its listed 14th
on the list of ingredients.

Also, vitamin pills are almost never as effective as eating natural

cancer patients they shouldn't eat oranges since the average organce

Yeah it's out there no doubt as these recommendations have been in
effect for a while. Originally it was for people who liked to
megadose with vit. c. Now that there are plant antioxidants out there
that are extremely powerful you'll begin to see warnings on these as
well (e.g. grape seed extract, pycnogenol). I know in a recent trial

You need to be careful how you're defining antioxidant.

doses of vitamin C probably won't have much issue. But taking a
powerful antioxidant like amla is potentially dangerous for chemo

radiation therapy patients. For example I know since the craze of
taking another powerful antioxidant (Pine bark extract IIRC)
oncologists were saying NOT to take it during chemo or radiation
therapy. Also turmeric is contraindicated in some breast ca

 regimes--

and I believe that is an ingredient of amrit k.

 Caveat emptor!

This article refers to vitamins c and e as the antioxidants in
question--imagine if you used something 1000 times more powerful

 than

these like amrit kalash--you could seriously negate your cancer
therapy. And the TMO is STILL recommending amrit for chemo/rad
 therapy patients!

But more powerful doesn't mean the same as. And in vivo studies on
rats show that there is a direct positive effect fromthe interaction
of MAK and chemo. Likewise with a recent study on humans.

Also, vitamin pills are almost never as effective as eating natural
sources. Telling people not to take vitamin C during chemo without
direct evidence that it effects one in a negative way means telling
cancer patients they shouldn't eat oranges since the average organce
has more than the MDR of C.

In terms of the ability to negate free radical mechanisms, it means a
likely greater chance that it would counter the effect.

A good example would be pycnogenol--it has similar antioxidant
activity of MAK and it is contraindicated for chem and rad therapy.
In regards to vitmains you would have to be taking huge amounts of C
to get similar effects of MAK--and by then you'd reach bowel
tolerance most likely. This seems common sense to me, probably less
so for TB's who actually believe TMO research tells the truth...

If you go to:

http://www.grizzlymanmovie.com/grizzly.html

The song begins playing when the page loads.

The song reminds me of when we saw Dave Alvin--another great American
singer/songwriter. He played Blue Hill town hall last winter, a small
venue, no doubt. He told this story about Everett Reuss. Everett was
a young kid who in the 30's just left his family in California and
explored the great western wildreness. He kept a journal of poetry
and exploits and painted pictures wherever he went--trading his
paintings for provisions as he trecked what was the still then the
great wild west. He eventually disappaearred into the great Escalante
Badlands and was never heard from again. Indian medicine men in the
west claim to see him in visions. He was initiated into the Snake
dance and numerous other mysteries like the native healing songs.
Anyways Dave wrote this song which tells Everett's story. He prefaced
it with imagine your in a campground in the four corners region and
this old man walks in and begins telling you this story of his life
and how he was thought to be dead. I get the same goosebumps when I
hear Coyotes.

Well I hate your crowded cities
With your sad and hopeless mobs
And I hate your grand cathedrals
Where you try to trap God.

EVERETT RUESS
Dave Alvin
(Blue Horn Toad Music, BMI)

I was born Everett Ruess
I been dead for sixty years
I was just a young boy in my twenties
The day I disappeared.

Into the Grand Escalante Badlands
Near the Utah and Arizona line
And they never found my body, boys
Or understood my mind.

I grew up in California
And I loved my family and my home
But I ran away to the High Sierra
Where I could live free and alone.

And folks said He's just another wild kid
And he'll grow out of it in time,
But they never found my body boys
Or understood my mind.

I broke broncos with the cowboys
I sang healing songs with the Navajo
I did the snake dance with the Hopi
And I drew pictures everywhere I go.

Then I swapped all my drawings for provisions
To get what I needed to get by
And they never found my body, boys
Or understood my mind.

Well I hate your crowded cities
With your sad and hopeless mobs
And I hate your grand cathedrals
Where you try to trap God.

'Cause I know God is here in the canyons
With the rattlesnakes and the pinon pines
And they never found my body, boys
Or understood my mind.

They say I was killed by a drifter
Or I froze to death in the snow
Maybe mauled by a wildcat
Or Iím liviní down in Mexico.

But my end, it doesnít really matter
All that counts is how you live your life
And they never found my body, boys
Or understood my mind.

You give your dreams away as you get older
Oh, but I never gave up mine
And theyíll never find my body, boys
Or understand my mind.

[FairfieldLife] Re: FF , Active Spiritual Practice Groups

2005-10-21 Thread dhamiltony2k5
Yes, it is interesting to see who all is still here when you go to
these 'other' programs. For instance, this last summer when the
lady-saints tours came through. Ammachi gave darshan to about 4000
people while she was here. Yes, some people travel here to see her
here but a lot of those people were from here. Similar thing with
Karunamayi. Again recently with Bapuji, an elderly holy man who
came through and gave darshan. It was very interesting to see who
came out of the woodwork this year in particular after the whole 're-
certification' thing on campus effectively spun so many out of
responsibility for the movement.

Now, there may be a couple of thousand adult meditators who remain
living in the larger meditating community and only just a few
hundred true-believers up on campus or up north in just the TMO
fold. Yet most meditators who occassionally git asked if they
are 'meditators', might generically say 'yes they came here as
meditators' and then more freely distance themselves now from that
which is 'TMO'.

As the Weekly Reader article says, FF has become something else.

Unusual case though. It looks like rigor mortis is
actually proceeding death.

On another note, won't it be strange when MMY drops
the body? TMO/MMY for so many of us has been such a
significant part of our lives. It'll seem like a
parent dying.

It's more a matter of choice -- not everyone believes or agrees
that fastest growth towards enlightenment occurs by being in the

Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: FF , Active Spiritual Practice Groups

2005-10-21 Thread gullible fool

When writing signing a death certificate it is
 generally a good idea
to first properly identify the stiff in question..
 What is the TMO?

I'm really confused here, because I thought we, the
TM devotees, were the ones getting stiffed.

Just curious:

Do both teach full time?

Do they live in and teach out of a SV building?

Are they getting their recert salaries?

Are they teaching many at current prices?

Don't know to any of those. However, since Denise is the author of
The TM Book, I rather suspect that she's real careful to follow every
dictate from MMY.

Well, the same was not exactly true of co-author Peter McWilliams.

Actually he said he meditated faithfully for exactly 5 years. And when
cc was not established as promised -- he stopped and moved on.

I heard an interview on NPR with Peter McWilliams some time ago --
he took frequent breaks during the interview to toke loudly on a
marijuana doobie, which he was using to quell the nausea and other
side effects of his AIDS drugs. However, he was prosecuted and
forced to quit using marijuana, which led to his choking to death on
vomit:

Rather anal of him, I thought then and still do. And Denise bought
out Peter McWilliams many years ago. The title has been released in
several editions overthe years with her name as the only author.
