Yes, yes. This is just the ticket. It will appeal to everyone here. It may even
fill the void that I recognize as boredom and ennui on my part. A chart, a
chart, we all want a jyotish chart of Edward and his wife. Why didn't I think
of that?

Do you think you could organize a visit to FF by that Russian 'Amateur' woman?
It looks like she could liven the place up and perhaps give the others in their
granny dresses, Birkenstocks and unshaven pits a few tips on beauty and
fashion. After all, who doesn't need an albino python wrapped around their neck
as the ultimate fashion accessory? Couldn't you just picture the new you
looking like she does in her bikini? You'll have to definitely give up those
forbidden pleasures of the cookie sneaking kind though.

I can only speak for myself (is that an obvious statement?) but I love that
series for a few reasons. The first is the sumptuousness of the sets and the
locations. The costuming is beautiful and the actors are well cast and the
acting itself is adequate at least and excellent at best (Dame Maggie Smith for
example). I love historical books and film. It is a tad on the soap opera-y
side but this is fine because my indulgences as far as TV watching goes is
extremely minimal so I'm going to forgive myself this one. I also adore the
English countryside and here it is filmed in all its glory and I also love to
see old cars, old furniture, old interiors of buildings and this series has all
of this in spades.

As far as a rehash of "Upstairs Downstairs" I loved that as well, at least the
original couple of seasons. That was much simpler in set and design but it had
all of the human stories/elements and wonderful period flavor. I don't think
people need get their knickers in a twist because both of these series are
about class and class distinctions, or does it mean that by liking "Downton" it
makes one a lover of the rich and the elite or that it means one supports the
aristocracy over the common man. But then maybe no one thinks this anyway and I
am just extrapolating.

I love watching ignorant, arrogant wannabe skeptics
doing fierce battle with an army of straw men of
their own creation.

Salyavin doesn't understand the nuts and bolts of
astrology. Barry doesn't understand what astrology
is for.

They can't effectively challenge what they don't
understand. And they're too arrogant ever to allow
themselves to be schooled by skeptics like me who
know what we're talking about.

They'll just continue to hack away at their straw
men, doing no damage to astrology and making fools
of themselves.

I am not sure what the fascination with Downton Abbey is either, which
according to one friend is a re-hash of Upstairs, Downstairs. I have watched a
couple episodes of Downton and while I like some of the actors, there are too
many of them for me to keep up with, you know, what with me having cognitive
overload from too much TM years ago, or maybe its those damnable aliens who are
messing with my head when they are not making crop circles.

come and live in California or Nevada for twenty years and see how it
compares. Not that there isn't culture and natural beauty in California (and
Nevada is another story all together) but for me I love stone and brick and
soil that is drenched in history and humanity and has a richness that can be
viscerally felt. England, for me, has all of this and more. It doesn't
necessarily have to be Windsor Castle - Spitalfields was equally as fantastic.

A heartfelt and eloquent piece Ann. I just spent half an hour typing
a response but pressed the wrong key and lost it. Sigh. But it worries me you
think I might not be interested in history because I'm not a royalist. Perhaps
I just see a different England with a grander sweep of history from the ice age
to the Roman invasion, Danelaw and beyond.

To sum up what I deleted: what gets me is I'm expected to bow to an asshole
like prince Edward simply because a distant ancestor of his chopped off a few
heads and invaded France. I think their time has passed, other than as a
tourist attraction for people from countries with no history of their own -
other than the slaughter of the natives
with smallpox infected blankets of course, which must be hard to get nostalgic
about.

So yup, English history is amazing but the kings and queens take
up just a tiny part of it, there was much more interesting things going on,
even at the time. The peasants revolt for instance. The attempts by the diggers
and the levellers to get back the land stolen from us by our "betters", the
unfair taxes etc. The fight against the church and state has been endless. The
empire, the decline, the neo-colonial project in the middle east. History
evolves and the greed
and corruption often gets forgotten, the House of Windsor seem past their sell
by date to me. A most curious anachronism.

a response but pressed the wrong key and lost it.

Since we're interpreting All Things Royal in
terms of astrology lately, this sounds like
the former king was suffering from a classic
case of uranus affliction.

Presumably a little Preparation H cured it.

How The 12 Signs Deal With Near Death Experiences

[Aries] ARIES: "Who's in charge here? I'd like to see God right now,
please. Am I dead? Gee, I never thought that could happen to me! Where
can I get a crystal palace backlit with white light like that one?"
[Taurus] TAURUS: Leaving the body, Taurus realizes that he or she no
longer has a stomach and immediately returns to the body (thud!),
without seeing tunnels, light, God, etc., making Taurus skeptical for
the rest of his or her life. [Gemini] GEMINI: The key
thing to the zodiacal twins isn't the experience itself, but how they
can embellish it when telling the story (or writing about it). Since
Geminis are comfortable in all worlds, except those without telephones,
they usually bounce back to the body fairly rapidly - and the mouth
tends to work before the rest of the body comes back to life.
[Cancer] CANCER: Cancerians can live to be 125 years old, and they
don't usually have near death experiences, but they can come awfully
close to having a near life experience when they get brave and venture
out of their house for "supplies." [Leo] LEO:
"Nooo, I am NOT dead. I am not, I am not, I am not... Who are those
guys in the white robes? What's that they're singing...? They're off
key. I can sing better than that! Where's the choir director? I need a
microphone immediately. Unless it's Rolling Stone or Spin, hold my
calls." [Virgo] VIRGO: Working a marathon 60 hours
straight, Virgo collapses and leaves the body. She moves through that
delightfully clean and sparkling tunnel of light, occasionally
reflecting upon possible improvements...but soon becomes so worried by
the thought of her loved ones "managing" without her that she snaps
back into the body like white lightning, sits up, and calmly pronounces
herself alive, glancing at her watch. [Libra] LIBRA:
Floating out of the body, then in, then out, then in, and finally out
again... Libra sees a tunnel and a vibrant being of light at the other
end. "Wow, is that Jesus? Wait a minute, maybe it's Kwan Yin. That looks
like something she'd wear." Never deciding whether to go through the
tunnel (after all, what's death without someone to share it with?) Libra
ends up back in the body by default, hounded by a mysterious compulsion
to start a dating service for discarnate souls.
[Scorpio] SCORPIO: Since most Scorpio's have nine lives, they tend to
brainstorm different ways to trigger the near death experience. Once
nearly dead, most can barely get to the end of the tunnel without
meeting some being with whom they have astral sex. When asked whom they
prefer to greet them on the other side, 75% name a favorite vampire,
and Medusa is a strong contender. [Sagittarius]
SAGITTARIUS: Sagittarius floats out of her body and has to laugh at the
stupid way she bought the farm. After somehow BREAKING the tunnel of
light, she absolutely refuses to return to the body, since she's been
trying to get out of it for all these years (via clumsy accidents).
Because Sagittarius is immensely curious about whether the so-called
organized religious have any validity at all, this stroke of luck leads
to some amaazing lessons, until, alas, the astral folks tire of her
and trick her into returning to Earth for the duration.
[Capricorn] CAPRICORN: It might take Capricorn a little while to
realize he is dead because there are special rooms set up to look like
executive offices for newly-dead Goats. A sharp-looking, older
gentleman-ghost comes in and gives Cap an instruction manual titled How
To Profit In The Astral Marketplace, plus a "job evaluation" type
assessment of Capricorn's achievements and mistakes over the lifetime,
followed by a pink slip (meaning the body revived). Capricorns tend to
return to their bodies quickly, unable to tolerate non-physical
existence for long. [Aquarius] AQUARIUS: Aquarius gets
to the pearly gates, sees that heaven isn't run by consensus, and opts
for hell, where at least there is an appealing anarchy and rules are
made to be broken. Ironically, Aquarian near-d

ah ha! Now that tidbit about the Duke of Windsor aspiring to becoming Regent, I

I think the Duke was also deemed a little too friendly with the Germans at one

I love history, I love Europe and I love England. You are a very fortunate man
to live there. I lived there once too and I would love to again. Even the
monarchy and its trappings are fascinating and beautiful and just looking at
the carriages, the harness, the uniforms of all of the different people who
attend on ceremony and who maintain the historical places is enriching to me.
So much of what these people wear or look after or create are works of art. The
fabrics, the craftmanship, the intricacy of all of the levels of staging and
creating these old rituals of coronation or royal weddings. We would be poorer
for not having access to seeing these things. There is a living history aspect
to this. Who hand makes things anymore? Who takes the time to lovingly polish
and arrange things? There is a kind of devotion to the attending of detail and
the nurturing of a kind of refinement when you painstakingly re-enact or
embrace centuries old tradition. Just come and live in California or Nevada for
twenty years and see how it compares. Not that there isn't culture and natural
beauty in California (and Nevada is another story all together) but for me I
love stone and brick and soil that is drenched in history and humanity and has
a richness that can be viscerally felt. England, for me, has all of this and
more. It doesn't necessarily have to be Windsor Castle - Spitalfields was
equally as fantastic.

Yeah, but in today's world, by the time he's ready to take the throne, he could
be a she. Just ask Lou Reed.

I heard it is a boy. But I have not seen it with my own eyes. So I do not know
it is a boy. Last I heard it was a boy. Previous to that I also heard it was a
boy. By projecting a concept of continuity through time, and the concept there
being a future in relation to the concept of time, I think that I may have an
experience wherein I will hear that it is still continuing to be a boy.

Your last sentence is false. They lived mainly in France
but returned to England several times; the queen visited
the couple in France; and they are buried in a royal
cemetery in England. Royal relations with the duke would
not have been warm and fuzzy for many significant reasons.
Best to read up on them before trying to portray the queen
as out for petty revenge, eh?

John, thank you but don't go too far out on that limb. Lots of folks here in
the Funny Farm Lounge with saws in their hands. Uh oh, including me. In the
other post you said the brother of the current queen gave up the throne to
marry an American divorced woman. Actually he was her uncle. He abdicated and
her father became king. She blamed her uncle for her father's early death. Thus
the Duke and Duchess of Windsor were never allowed back in the country.

Also about Moon Rahu conjunctions: didn't Ravi mention that Hitler had that?
It's got a special name.

I'll go out on a limb to guess what the baby's name should be based on jyotish
principles. Based on the Moon's position, the applicable syllable or sound for
the baby is "ja". Therefore, his name could be James or variations of this

That's the post I'm talking about, John, the one in
which you said he was "born to rule." Actually the
most the chart can say, if it's accurate, is that he
was "born to rule but will never get the chance to
do so."

In jyotish, the Sun is the king of the solar system. The Sun being placed in
the 10th house of the chart gives the power of kingship. In this particular
case, the boy was a product of a royal family. And he is lucky enough that the
power of royalty is passed on to him.

Judy,

I'm just reading what the chart says. Please, read my original post. In
jyotish, the Sun is the king of the solar system. The Sun being placed in the
10th house of the chart gives the power of kingship. In this particular case,
the boy was a product of a royal family. And he is lucky enough that the power
of royalty is passed on to him.

However, kingship is not necessarily and automatically passed on to babies in a
royal family. Some of these babies become paupers or commoners, which is the
case of one British royal member (the brother of the present Queen) in the 20th
century who gave up his right to the throne to marry an American and divorced
woman.

For people of common birth, the Sun in the 10th house can give them success in
their professional careers, often becoming the presidents and CEOs of the
companies they work for. So, in a sense, the Sun has given them the power to
rise above the rest to become leaders of men and women.

On a philosophical note, the popularity of shows like Downton and

fascinates me. What is it people like about them, is it the
sense of a social structure to belong to or a fantasy about being
lord of the manor? Or is it about living in a racially pure country
again?

People don't really think it was better in those days do they?
The aristocracy made up about 1% of the country, life sucked for
everyone else. Fascinating we should have a sense of nostalgia
about it.

C'mon Sal, ease up man, you are crushing all of our Downton Abbey fantasies

No he didn't. I want to know how, out of 2000 people born on

Really? The people I saw today are quite representative I'd
say, everyone from a landscape gardener to a career civil
servant in the Home Office via a chartered designer a
lawyer and a photographer or two.

Oh, and my facebook page was more full of anarchist jokes than
usual. Not that anyone I know would ever wish anyone harm of
course, and the happy couple are accorded the same good wishes
every new parent gets. But.

Chuckle, well she did get a £50,000,000 pay rise last year,
while the rest of us struggle to pay the bills.

Well, I don't live there, of course, but I sure have
never had the impression that most Brits are into
toadying and groveling. Bowing, maybe. I have the
sense as well that these days it's more about tradition
than about "their betters." And I strongly suspect the
government knows better than to want to go back to the
days of the British Empire.

You know, I don't really think that the people at your
place of work, the friends you had lunch with, and your
folks add up to "most of us British."

Oh, what a stinging quip. So insightful.

With regard to the royal birth, it strikes me that the
folks who are dumping on the interest in it are according
it more significance than those who are just enjoying it
for what it is.

You'll find the BBC and some assorted rightwing newspapers
will write about very little else for the forseeable future.
The BBC do it or they'll get the license fee reduced, hence
all the naueating sycophancy at the wedding last year. If they
don't do that they get accused of left wing bias.

The Daily Mail does it because they still believe in a toadying
world of grovelling and bowing to people they consider their
"betters" even though this world ended at the start of the first
world war. The DM and the government would love to take us back
to those halcyon days of empire.

If you want to know what most of us British *actually* think
you should have joined me at work where nobody even mentioned
it and at lunch with friends where nobody even mentioned it
and now at my folks for a family meal, where nobody has even
mentioned it.

That most would keep the monarchy doesn't mean they give
a toss about it. I don't know anyone that would notice
(or care) if they all disappeared overnight but would probably
keep the status quo for fear of ending up a republic, but that's
a big difference to Bastille day.

Good find. Apparently three-quarters of Brits want to
retain the monarchy and have for decades. Pollsters
describe it as "probably the most stable trend we have
ever measured." And it doesn't seem to have much of
anything to do with tourism dollars.

Me, I've been a huge fan of the queen ever since I
first read about her preparations for the coronation
in Life magazine in 1952, when she was only 26 years
old. She couldn't exactly make a silk purse out of
the sow's ear of a life she was handed, but she made
it the best damn sow's ear she possibly could. She
is one tough broad.

Yes, during the footman gig, they would be REQUIRED - but during the pub crawl
with Her Majesty, I would insist on wearing a powder blue number, with a brim,
and sash. Seeing as how my cranium is about three times as big as hers, the hat
would perch on the very top of my head, and fall off frequently. If the weave
was tight enough, I'd drink Guiness out of it, too!

Salyavin is even more ignorant about astrology than I thought.

But John, you know, "born to rule" is an awfully silly thing
to say about this baby, given that the British monarchy has
virtually no power and is exceedingly unlikely ever to
reacquire any. (Equally silly is the notion that his father's
chart is that of "a king of the age of enlightenment," unless
such a king is defined as being a mere figurehead.)

Why don't you see if you can find something about the baby's
chart that reflects the reality of his situation rather than
a fairy-tale view of it?

2013-07-23 Thread John
Salyavin,

All of the babies were not born at the same time. The difference in time can
mean different variations of the life. Also, you have to consider the karma,
both in this lifetime and the past life, of the father, the mother, and the
child himself. In effect, the birth chart is a very specific picture of a
person at a given space and time.

Ah, the benefits of "foreknowledge" when making
"predictions." Reminds me of this bit from "Monty
Python's Life Of Brian."

Brian's mother: What star sign is he?
Wise Man #2: Capricorn.
Brian's mother: Capricorn, eh? What are they like?
Wise Man #2: He is the son of God, our Messiah.
Wise Man #1: King of the Jews.
Brian's mother: And that's Capricorn, is it?
Wise Man #3: No, no, that's just him.
Brian's mother: Oh, I was going to say, otherwise
there'd be a lot of them.

That's about it for most of us really. They just seem astonishingly
irrelevant in their cloistered little world of grovelling footmen
and sycophantic civil servants. I wouldn't wish a life like that
on anyone.

But there must be a lot of people into it or there wouldn't be crowds outside
the palace waving flags all night. Takes all sorts I suppose. I think that Maj
is so much part of the furniture of the country that most never even question
it and if they do the conclusion is that
they bring in a lot of tourist dollars. Bit of a sad indictment.

And children like them, they fit in to the English upbringing
somewhere between santa, god and the tooth fairy - a nice little
story for kids about princes and castles. But we soon snap out of
it when we see prince Andrew on a trade mission selling weapons
to Arab dictators. This is what they are for really, keeping the British end up.

Salyavin,

I'm just reading the chart the way it's shown. It's an intuitive science. You
can see the message also if you studied jyotish.

[FairfieldLife] Re: It's a boy

2013-07-22 Thread sparaig
I lived in the UK in 1978-1983. Early in my stay, I was the guest in someone's
home and someone mentioned that the Queen would be visiting some local
attraction and that they should go see her.

Her friend dryly responded, "Oh yes, we should all go see the Queen, don't we
all agree?"

Everyone in the room nodded solemnly and then started discussing which move was
worth watching instead.

What about the other 2000 babies born yesterday?

And an extra castle or two for the nanny to live in I should think.

You don't really need a horoscope for people like this as their
lives are so predetermined. He goes to Eton, then studies classics
at somewhere extremely exclusive, spends a few years in the army
shooting foreign peasants, then retires to a palace of his own to
perpetetuate the line. What could be more depressing

But at least you get to make an accurate prediction for once ;-)

LOL,

Don't worry Bhairitu, you won't offend me. I think the royal
family are a bunch of parasites, just who the fuck do they
think they are with all this "bow to me" bullshit.

They are a bunch of hideous snobs that somehow get away with
owning most of the country (and making a tax-free profit from
it) just because their ancestors stole it from us and made us
all serfs. And they're all German anyway.

Weird thing is, I don't personally know a single person who
cares about them. They seem to exist purely as a tourist attraction
for rich Americans. And something for the government to claim
should make us proud to be British, they've sold everything else
to foreign companies you see, the flag is all we've got left

Well, after all, our royalty are from Hollywood and those who are more commonly

Oh c'mon Bhairitu, you can do better than that! It's all about capitalist pigs
creating a fantasies for children to lose themselves in. People like... Walt
Disney create an illusion for the little ones to get addicted to in hopes that
one day their Prince Charming will come to their rescue(sexist to) and take
them out of this cruel world where those very capitalist pigs exploit their
fathers and mothers for minimum wage and keep them down without union
representation yada yada yada.

The one thing I do like about any monarchy, is that when it is working well, as
in the sandinavian countries, it sets a good example, of service by the rich
and powerful, beyond them just making big bucks, and flaunting it.

When my dad was a diplomat, he did it on a government salary, but 99% of his
fellow Foreign Service Officers were independently wealthy. Nonetheless, they
saw it as their obligation to both serve in WWII, and for their country,
afterwards.

A king or queen isn't the solution here in the US, but we have to do better
than "The Kardashians". :-)

That's what I figured, but I got two different times
depending on the site. All the sites I tried noted that
both locations, NYC and London, were on Daylight Saving/
Summer time, so they were presumably taking that into
account; but one of the sites (the first one I used)
gave me 11:24 am EDT for the time of birth in NYC, the
others gave me 12:24 pm EDT. How could it be 12:24 if
the cities are five hours apart, both times are Daylight
Saving/Summer time, and the kid was born at 4:24 local
time?

Never mind! The baby's born, he and the mother are in
good shape, and I'm not concerned about his horoscope.

Share,

Thanks for the heads up. According to the birth time given, he is a Libra
ascendant with the Moon in the nakshatra of Uttara Shaddha.

He was born to rule as a royalty since the Sun is placed in the 10th house. He
will also be accomplished in the Arts since Venus is placed in 11th house from
Saturn, or that his future wife will bring good luck in his work.

Prince William will further benefit from this new born child since the Sun,
representing him, are surrounded by benefic planets. He should gain much
political advantage and success in his endeavors from this birth.

Kate will gain as well since the Moon is being aspected by the Sun, signifying
the splendor of the father and royalty. In addition, she may have two more
male children.

Since Rahu represents the grandfather, Prince Charles will soon be crowned as
king since the Sun is placed in the 10th house.

You want the BST since the UK is GMT but goes BST for summer. It's one
hour ahead of UTC which is what is used for planetary calculations and
the same year round. Time zones are the bane of astrologers. In the
Internet age we could do away with them altogether and just use UTC. It
would make things much easier when communicating with people in other
parts of the world.

Or it may have been 12:24 pm Eastern Daylight time--I'm
getting different times from different Web time-zone
converters. All the news reports say "4:24 pm local time,"
FWIW, which should be BST, British Summer Time.

The baby was born at 4:24 pm London time (11:24 am Eastern
Daylight time), weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces.
