Although I have my kitties I've always had adult kitties and never kittens and
some one asked me a question I couldn't answer yesterday. Does anyone know what
age kittens should be on average before you start weaning them from kitten food
onto general adult cat food?

Hi Hideyo,
Within the last year my vets have instituted a policy of no surgery without prior bloodwork. I've always done the bloodwork, anyway, but some folks are angry about the additional expense. Believe me, I understand all too well about the cost of vet care, but I'm not going to risk an
I try to not wean until a year old, they need the extra vits and energy :)

Hi Michelle,
Wink is approximately 9 years old. She's tiny (right now only 4.5 lbs) and has always been that way. I don't think she ever weighed more than 6 lbs.
She is also hyper-thyroid. If she's a candidate for surgery, Dr. Bulakowski feels that it's reasonable to expect a2-4 year extension
Hi Michelle,
My vets have told me a year, however, I keep kitten food in the mix (I rotate foods rather than feeding the same thing all the time) because it's higher in protein.

I have had to put off spaying Bones as well. She JUST came into her first
heat last week, and it only lasted 4 days. She meowed alot, and Pinky and

"stressed" about it. (All my males are neutered, but two of them don't seem
2-4 years is quite an extension. I think that might be worth 3 weeks
boarding at NEVOG personally, but I have never had to leave someone at the vet
that long and would also have a hard time doing it.
NEVOG's partnership with ACI is actually how we started going there. We
were driving Fern
I had always thought between 1 and 2 years of age. But with my boys, they went from kitten food to prescription food at about 5 months because of Smoky's GI issues. And their growth was certainly not stunted in any way!!![EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I started feeding my distemper "survivors" a raw diet when they were about

However, my vet said to add additional dry food, so now they are on Innova

It's an excellent food, and all the guys love it.

I am so sorry Casper spent such a short time with you.
She has done a great job in making people aware of parasites and the death they
can bring so quickly to little ones. Maybe that was the job she had in her
short life. I am so glad she found love. Not every person can say
Gary and Karen,
I'm so sorry about your losing the little ones. I wish I had the
answers. Parasites, Giardia and Coccidia do take a lot of little
lives. MC just lost several kittens one at a time. I don't think she
knows what claimed their lives. Sally too, just lost a litter one at a
time.
Thanks for that post. Rescue little ones from the pound I lose too may.
feral kittens trapped are much healthier...its sad.
Please pray that my little casper found Baby C my positive. Baby C was my
very first rescue and very first positive.
After kitten season is over I will be looking for
ps you must think I am crazy I meant I hope she found baby C at the
bridge
I'm sure we all understand. And I am equally sure Casper
is with her friends and your friends and angels who will guide her and keep
her. She may even return to you one day. She is very grateful to
leave this world loved and held and cared for. She was warm and
loved. Know how very grateful
