At the clinic where I work we only usually give positive cats the distemper
portion. The FELV portion is of no value good or bad to a positive cat. In fact
it is yet another vaccine component the cats body must deal with.
Hope this heps.

actually, there IS anecdotal evidence, on this list, that vaccinating FeLVs
against FeLVs results in longer-lived cats.. which is against what
"common" wisdom would say, but there were a lot of folks here and then off
the list whose oldest positive cats had all been vaccinated, either because

Hi, Gloria, Let me get this straightYour vet vaccinated FelV
positive cats with the FelV vaccine to deal with FelV. I understood
that once a cat was FelV positive the vaccine was not going to change
it's status, and the cat would still remain positive. Does anyone else
know anything abou
Really makes you wonder! My best (and really uneducated) guess would be
that kibs who get full-blown FeLV after being vaccinated for it either
have something going on already or were in a different stage of the
disease than Stripes and Squeaky when they were first inoculated, or
maybe there's some
Well this is VERY interesting to me. My FeLV+ cats were always vaccinated
for FeLV, too (before AND after the vet knew they were positive). Stripes
lived to 16 years and Squeaky lived to age 22 years.

Dawn,
I am not sure what State you live in, however, the first transfusion for a cat
can be from any donor cat. After that however, you need to have the correct
type. Because our cat has B blood, which is very rare, we searched and found a
animal blood bank that was within driving distance f
We decided to by pass the vaccines for our FeLV cat. We figure his body has
been through enough, so we did not want to subject him to the exposure. Our
Vet agreed with that decision.

No it wasn't anaphylactic shock or the kitten would have died right
away. She got sick the next day. She was so weak she just fell
over and apparently the shot stressed her immune system too much.
She must have been fairly far advanced with FelV, as she was always
much more quiet than the other
Was it an anaphylactic shock reaction? I lost a 5 month old little feral
girl, she died right after having her rabies shot--she was not tested though
I'm guessing likely negative.
