Hello Everyone.I'm new here and this question is about the Felv vaccine.
My cat was tested for feline leukemia and tested negative. On October 16, 2011
she received her Felv#1 vaccine and was due for her booster (Felv#2) three
weeks later. Due to financial circumstances I was unable to
Hi Melody!
Welcome to the forum. I'm no expert but I do know that if you don't get the
second shot, then your cat is not fully protected, if at all. You will have to
start over (as if your kitty never received the first shot) when you are able
to get her back to the vet.
I sympathize with
I agree - if you keep the cat strictly inside, you wouldn't even have to use
the vaccine.you also must understand that even if you got the required
booster, any vaccine is only about 80% effective.

I need to share this so it can get to the FELV Lists and whomever is
following this testing debacle. We took in 5 Persians
When she says bloodwork I wonder what she means. You can take blood and send
it to a lab where they perform the same type of ELISA test as done in the vet's
office, but they do it differently at the lab (my vet called it a well test).
They have to take a bigger blood sample for that. It's
Kat,
Ellen should have waited longer than two days to have them tested again.
Waiting 90 days to retest is usually what is suggested to be more accurate.
I hope they really are all negative :0)

Were the second tests also SNAP? Or the IFA?
True, it is scary how many cats tests false positives! I had two such cats
(one had the Snap AND IFA - positive both times.) One cat had only the
Snap.then I did the IFA for both, and BOTH were negative. I purposely found

Hello all,
Our time in Japan will finally be ending next summer. I have been so happy
with my Japanese vet and credit him with the amazing health of my Fuji, who was
diagnosed with Mediastinal Lymphoma 17 months ago. She was given 2-3 months to
live and has exceeded that by over a year due
Our volunteer fire department gives out stickers so you can list how many and
what kind of pets you have but I worry now having heard about cats running
back inside. I don't know how dedicated the volunteers would be in getting
them out and how would they contain them once they are out. I am
Where will you be moving to, Melinda?
It might be a good idea to start some research on vets in that are, their
philosophy, knowledge and willingness to continue what your Dr. Morisaki has
started.

Sounds like Meaow wants to be the ONLY cat in the house. Annie was that way in
the beginning, but no serious biting, just hissing and slappig. She has
settled down now. So has Nitnoy who only slaps and hisses, especially Harley
since he thinks his life's mission is to harrass the others to
Hi Melody, Does your vet use Care Credit? I use that and you can pay it off,
without interest if you do it within the promotional time. How long depends on
how much you charged. Higher amounts, you can take up to 6 months to pay. If
the charge is less than $300.00, my vet usually holds the
Melinds, maybe your vet in Japan might know of some vets where you are moving.
Worth a try. At least find someone who will work with him to treat your babies.

It is possible the SNAP tests were positive an IFA was negative because the
virus had not progressed to the bone marrow. I also wonder if the SNAP tests
that were positive were done on the new 3way tests. Our shelter stopped using
them because they were not dependable.
