Hi all,
Funny how fast they responded when I
had the letter of request delivered to them. Told them I had direct contact with
the Veterinary Board of WA. (with Belinda's help of course)
Amazing!
I can assure you I will drive the extra miles to see my regular
Vets from now on.
I got a call
Excellent idea phawyren! I will donate all my sons old blankies he has and
I love to croqet...I will make blankies and donate them. I love how your
vet had little cofifns for the past pets. It is sad that they wrapped poor
Dukee in a Science Diet box. Great idea about the blankies. Thanks

My Vet always faxes me anything I ask for. Sounds to me like they
are worried about something, just my suspicious nature I guess :)

I'm not sure it's legal to not give them to you, you have paid for the
services, I do know some vets charge a fee for it but I have never heard
of them refusing to give you at least copies.

before- I get all the records of all of my cats anytime I think you should

I just called the dept of health and they referred me to the
veterinary board of medicine and I spoke with a lady who said they DO
have to turn them over no later than 15 business days from the time of
the written request, I just wrote Terrie with all the info.

Scary to think, and I hate to even mention it, but MAYBE there is something
they are hiding, and that's why they wont release the records, because they are
scared of a malpractice suit because of something they did wrong.

Kelley what state are you in? I would guess each state will have
different laws, in Washington they have to by law turn them over with a
written request within 15 business days, of course that won't stop them
from omitting things or changing things.

Hi there,
I am in Texas. This is my vet's statement on medical records:

This is not because he will not release copies - he is explaining why a person may or may not be able to obtain copies from their previous vet.
