Hi Cindy,
Oh my, 45 kittens! That's a lot of squirmy, mewing little monkeys! How
wonderful of you folks to give the litter that tested pos a chance this
way. You people are fantastic to care, that's what we all expect
no-kill shelters to do, but so many times logistics of space and money

I'm very pleased to hear Patches is doing better today. You say "does

It depends. If his mom and siblings end up at the shelter their chances are slim to none and it's a high stress situation. More than here I think. If we can find a foster home or rescue to take the group (which I highly doubt at this time of year) I would like to put him back with them...
Tonya,
So glad to hear the good news. If the mom will accept
and care for grayson, doesn't it seem like he will have more of a chance at this
point than being bottle-raised at such a young age? I have no idea, just
asking.
Michelle
Thank you, Michelle and everyone. I've been crying a good bit myself today too. And thank you Nina for all your thoughts. I do have some good news to report. Thank goodness. Lauren (the girl whose dogs were thrown off the overpass and found Grayson and the tabby that died) called tonight an
Cindy,
I have never dealt with FeLV in kittens, but just wanted
to tell you I think it is wonderful, and absolutely the right thing, that you
are giving them a chance. There are positive cats on this list who have lived to
10 and older. They deserve a chance.

Hi to all of you - my name is Cindy and I volunteer for a "no-kill" cat shelter in East Texas. We have many cats and kittens at the shelter- and have taken in over 45 kittens during this kitten season. Most have been dumped outside our gate and some have been brought in by Animal Control. B
Thanks, Nina. Timely advice (sorry you had to go through it!).
Patches does seem better today, knock on wood. I work an hour away, so difficult
to come home mid-day to check, but my mom came and checked for me. I am
hoping she will be completely better within a few days.

Tonya, I am so sorry about the tabby boy. I am crying a little
thinking about him, and what you are doing and going through.

Thanks, Kerry. I gave her MSM in addition to the Metacam last night. She is
still limping some today, but way less, and she is otherwise acting normal--
even jumping (I keep helping her down). I hope she is actually healing
from whatever it is, and not just feeling a little better from the
Here are my ideas (all just shots in the dark):
1. Go to a veterinary dentist rather than a regular vet. They are more
specialized.
2. Try one of the intensive immune supports that have seemed to help other
kinds of immune problems in positive cats, like Immuno-Regulin or
Acemannan.
3.
Hi Anne, I certainly remember you and think of J2C and Sophie often. I think it's a miracle what you've done for Sophie especially. I don't have any advice for you since I haven't yet had to deal with these symptoms. I do agree with what you said though about making him comfortable. My firs

Hi Anne!
I've always loved Jimi Too Cool's name, and I remember Sophie too. I'm
so sorry to hear about Jimi's distress when eating. Isn't that just the
worst? To watch them be interested, to know they are hungry, and then
to see them react to something as benign as food with pain and terror!
Hi Diane,
I'm glad to see you made it to the list, and so glad Patches made it to

Hi, all,
newbie here. Nina saw an earlier version of my

informative and supportive. I've been lurking for a few

I've named the living baby grayson for now because he's gray and because one of my favorite students' names was grayson. lol He seems to be doing ok. Animal Control says they cannot go into an abandoned house and take animals. I'm waiting to hear from neighbor if she (wouldn't that be nice

Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry about the gray tabby.
For those times when you can't be there with him, if you put a stuffed
animal in his nest he will have something to cuddle up to.
