Hello,
I have some wool I would like to send out to be processed. I
was not very happy with the results I got the one time I sent wool
out to be processed into bats and roving. I have heard good things
about Zeilinger and Stonehenge. Anybody has other suggestions,
specially for wool with a
Ok, I'll take the bait.
My definition of Craft is any handwork that is done with an
eye to perfection, skill, and beauty. For me craftsmen/women are
people like Krenov or Pye incredible woodworkers IMO. Krenov makes

Many thanks to all who responded to my query on how to decrease the
hairiness of my worsted yarn. I'll continue sampling and try a three

Thanks bunches,

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Has something been removed
from the soy silk that made it soft and drapey? Is there something I can do
to remedy this? I had intended to knit a beaded scarf out of the yarn, but I
can't imagine putting something this scratchy around my neck!
HI!
Hello,
I have started to make samples for a spinning/knitting
project. The fleece is from my wether Cookie, a silver grey
Romney/CotswoldXShetland. He produces this beautiful 8 long medium
wool, and the project is a V-neck cardigan with lots of cables. So I
would like to spin a 2ply

Yes, it is true. His wool is not soft by any stretch of the

Hi All,
This question is somewhat OT, but not completely. I have an amazing
antique hand embroidered table-topper (don't know what else to call the
thing, it's not big enough to be a table cloth) that was brought back
from the Philippines by my Great Aunt about 1900-1910. The embroidery

Hello,
I have some 14/4 euroflax yarn I want to use to knit a hooded
sweater. I purchased some 1800 yards of yarn which I know is more
than enough for my hoodie. Now I have decided to use it doubled.
That will mean I have 900 yrds of doubled yarn. Does that mean I'll
need to get more
Hello,
While browsing thru some catalog I saw that Mabel Ross' book
Essentials of Yarn Design for Handspinners is back in print. I have
never seen a copy of that book myself and would appreciate comments

If you're using chenille from the cone, turn the cone upside down. That's
supposed to stop the chenille from worming. I have no experience with this.
I just had a very experienced machine knitter tell me that's how she used

HI,
Let's see. I guess I've had a nice and full of fiber summer.

Hello,
The list has been very quiet so I decided to stir things up a
bit with a question on flax spinning. I have some bleached flax
roving I rainbow dyed and have decided it is destined to be a
crocheted shawl. In the past I have done very little flax spinning
and am unsure how to deal
Greetings,
I am going to spend a week in Salt Lake City and was
wondering if anybody on the list knows of any fiber/yarn shop there.
Thanks in advance,

Hi, all :) Does anyone know the retail price for Gaywool sliver? I

Hi all. I recently received a pair of handknit socks from my mil.
She knit them from one skein of lovely sock wool...which was
variegated in a way that makes it look like intricate patterns are
knit INTO the sock, when in fact it's all one thread. I believe
it's German or Scandinavian wool,
balls of dark brown wool/angora yarn I have. Probably
will put some kind of cable in the center perhaps the XOXOX. I find
it a nice way to keep my ears warm in winter but avoid the usual hat
head I get whenever I wear a hat.

How much twist do I need to put on the yarn so as not to have the
noils coming out and piling? I would also like to dye it. Should I
dye the finished skeins or can I dye the unspun fiber?
Thanks for any info

Hello,
Has anybody in the list ever spun Giant angora or Giant

curious how that compares to cut angora fiber.
