Hi Jef,
Unfortunately not. Using my default file, with 3.5 point hooks and 6 point
default vertical position, I'd have to change that value to 20(!) points to
avoid the problem. Obviously that's unacceptable as a basic setting.
Other than this one issue, I'm pretty happy with Finale's Enhanced

Multimeasure rests (instead of actual measures) in the drum part are the worst.
Just use slash marks, with a little (8) above the final measure of an

That is exactly how I have it set.

Hi Jef,
The problem I'm having is that the "other ones" can't be moved back to their
default position when editing the score because they are not visible in the
score, only in the parts. (For instance, a tempo indication might appear on
just 2 out of 30 orchestral staves.)

Hi Jef,
Yes, I get all that. The problem is that even *after* unlinking, dragging,
e.g., a tempo expression which is attached to the TOP staff (the flute staff,
let's say) still results in that tempo expression moving on all other staves.
The only way I've found to move it independently is to m
Hi Jef,
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but I couldn't get this to work.
Even after unlinking, if I move a rehearsal letter or tempo indication attached
to the top staff, it moves it on every staff. I can subsequently clear the
manual positioning of *visible* rehearsal letters/tempo indications,
Is there an easy way to hide a text block set to all pages (or a certain page
range) only on selected pages? Like, for instance, if you have a work title
header that you want to display on every score page except those that begin a
new movement? Or is it necessary to create a new text block that

What is the best way to temporarily hide (or modify) group names on certain
score systems?
I know I can change the group attributes for the group in question from "All
Measures" to "Measure X through Y" but then I have to re-create all the groups
following the passage where I want the group nam
Hello all,
This is something I should have asked long ago, but:
In a score with linked parts, what is the best way to adjust the positioning of
a rehearsal letter/number or tempo indication that is attached to the top staff
without affecting its placement in all other staves? The link/unlink o

Hi Robert,
It continues to be a bug in Fin2014, but Make Music claim they can't reproduce
it so it's unlikely to ever be solved.

Hi Chuck,
I believe the trigger for the arrows not working in Speedy is when an autosave
is triggered while a different application is in the foreground. The solution
to this (and many other similar bugs in Fin2014) is to click in the menu bar.
This restores focus to Finale — something that is
Hi Brian,
Please please please report to MakeMusic! I'm so glad someone else can confirm
this problem! (I thought I was the only one experiencing this usse.)
The workaround for muting playback with MIDI Thru on is to set it to "Fixed"
and choose an unused channel (e.g., 99).

It's a focus issue. After switching back to Finale from another application,
you need to manually click on the menubar once before any of the keyboard
shortcuts work. Text insert shortcuts also often require an additional click on
the menubar before they begin working again.
