You would think that after using Finale for 30+ years I would have known to
take this wise precaution.

Hi Lawrence,
Keep a couple of copies of your uncorrupted new preference file to use if the
one you’re using becomes corrupted. That avoids the rebuilding process.

I solved my Crashing Finale problem by deleting the Finale Preferences File.
Hated setting everything up again, but Finale is now running smoothly again. I
wonder if this will fix Mike G’s problem as well.

I just did the same and Finale 25 has slowed noticeably. Also a strange
behavior has returnedwhen I use the staff tool to alter the distance
between stave, all the music on the staves disappears while I'm moving them.

Looks like I might have jumped the shark with my warnings about the Security
Update. My problems with Finale 25 have proven to be unrelated to the Security
Update.
Finale Mac 25 Mac Mini running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.3. I can crash Finale
simply by changing tools….very unusual for my system.
Greetings and a word of warning to others:
Yesterday, I installed the latest Security Update for Mac OS. (I am running
10.13.6). I zapped the PRAM after I did the installation.
When I opened Finale 25.5 to continue work on a project, my MIDI settings were

Doubtful. AFAIK, MakeMusic doesn't even offer support of 2k11 anymore.

Dear Listers,
Can anyone tell me if Finale 2K11 is compatible with the Sierra operating
system? (I am currently running El Capitan with a small playback restriction.)

Many thanks to my friends on the Finale List! I like my version of Finale so I
will not be updating to OS Sierra.

Something which I have found to be very useful: I have partitioned my hard
drive into 3 parts. I have different OS versions on two of them, and on the
3rd I have reserved exclusively to file storage.
You could keep your old system on one drive, and upgrade on the other as you
get to it, and
I have an audio interface that hasn't seen driver updates since 10.7
It still runs but I have to disable SIP on 10.11

One option for continuing to run Fin11 (if it doesn't work in Sierra) would
be to run it inside a virtual machine (VM). I have a VM for 10.7 set up
with Fin08, Fin12, and Fin14d installed so that I can run those versions in
the foreseeable future.
Sierra is a complete 64-bit OS. Fin11 is a 32-bit
No clue. I'd first see if the Mac mini will run 10.12 first as there was a big
hardware cutoff for this version of the operating system.
The second thing would be to ask why you need to run 10.12. What feature is
compelling you to upgrade? I can't see any that stand out and I have two macs
Probably not. Or at least with some minor bugs. You should consider updating to
V25.

I noticed Quickview recently and never realized it works with Finale
(Fin12) so I played around with it. The weird thing for me is that it works
for all pages except page 1. Page 1 shows the page titles and the first
staff of the first system only. Has anyone else encoutered this?
I recently deleted a whole bunch of Finale digests so part of this I am sure
has
been answered previously.
Are there any other problems other than listed on the MakeMusic.com site
upgrading to OS X 10.7 Lion?
I just had the logic board replaced on my 17 MacBook Pro for the 2nd time.
Seemed
If you only use native Finale fonts, I think you will have little or no trouble
migrating to Lion. Finale 2012 contains under the hood changes to how it
handles fonts in order to accommodate Unicode (disclaimer - this is from an
armchair understanding of how software works) that can create
I have a new macpro on order.

Hi all,
I am in the middle of system migration from Mac OS 10.5.x to a new Intel Mac
with OS 10.6.2. Finale is very quickly on the new machine, but I can't get the
dialog boxes for Page Margin or System Margin adjustments to appear. Ideas?
Thanks,

You must delete prefs. (I believe you are going from a G5 to an Intel machine,
so you must re-create your prefs from scratch.)

I had re-built the prefs, but I may need to do it again, if only I could

According to my son-in-law, the IT expert, it might be a good idea to
wait before installing the upgrade to 10.5.5. He says that some
users have been reporting issues with it, and he would not be dealing
with anyone using Finale so these must be users of other programs.
For whatever it's
For me, the greatest thing in Tiger is the untrumpeted arrival of
display rotation. I use two monitors: 17 and 21. In system
preferences you can rotate either or both monitors through 90, 180
(why?) or 270 degrees.
I imagine 180 degrees is useful for roof mounting displays or

Did you find the screen shot widget?
Two minor hiccups in Finale when Tiger is first installed:
1.None of the Finale fonts work. Solution: go to Library

2. The Scroll view/Page view keyboard shortcut doesn't work.
Solution: go to System Preferences Keyboard Mouse,
I've been using Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) for several days now and can

The main new features in Tiger are Dashboard and Spotlight .
