Would you think it a good idea to write a VB for Word(R) which:
1) Finds out the path/name of the active file
2) Automatically triggers WH2FO to transform the Word file
As an extension of this idea, would you consider it useful to insert into
the Word(R) menu a series of commands such as:
-
If n persons are using FOP now and some
of these can no longer use FOP
because a part of FOP they need has a license they can't use, then
I'd say this reduces FOPs usefulness for
these "some" persons, despite being more useful to others. Arnd Beissner --Arnd

Sorry, I didn't mean to misinterprete your words - and thanks for your quick

I'll change to the Cocoon user list (I would have to subscribe to the Cocoon
dev list sepcifically to discuss this topic with you...)

Could you, please, consider to give your lessons not only a number at the

All in all, we're making good experience in using FOP+Cocoon2 for the
production of technical documentation. Speed is no problem, even with many
images, but requires certain precautions.
Cocoon2 is not always at the hight of FOP, documentation on FOP is
insufficient.
We haven't succeeded yet in

An alternative would be to format the item label as Symbol and to assign
it the value #183; :
fo:list-item
fo:list-item-label
fo:block start-indent=0.0mm
fo:inline font-family=Symbol#183;/fo:inline
/fo:block
sure that everybody builds upon the same basis. It would make the samples
more easily comparable.

Not entirely correct, Arved. I'm not a great specialist on literature, but I
recall reading Tortilla Flat by J. Steinbeck at school. I remember a woman
in the story who faked to clean her flat with a vacuum cleaner - the _first_
vacuum cleaner in Tortilla Flat - although there was no electricity
Unfortunately, no patch. As I said before, I'm not a programmer.
A tentative to start a documentation on graphic file types, yes.
I had to pass it on, as I wouldn't be in possession of all the information

To my knowledge, nobody has picked it up,
Yes, that syntax works definitively and was used by us as long as we
utilized FOP under Cocoon 1. Cocoon 2 does not present this url problem any
more.
It presents another one, though: XML files cannot be specified to lie in

We had the same problem you had, Phil. I admit, the output is not too
representable due to this (among other) problems of FOP. Another problem
would be that, if you use a filler of type ., it assumes a fix width.
It does not seem to be able to fill out the variable space between the text

this uses so much memory. There may be a more
memory efficient way, but it's not available at the moment. So you may
have to try to reduce your images in size or resolution, if that's
feasible.

Does anybody know whether this is correct?

The enclosed file replaces the one mailed earlier today.
This how far I got. If someone wants to elaborate on the subject, let the
list members know. The aim would be to supply a (non-theoretical, because
theory with FOP sometimes is different from reality) description of graphics
in FOP/Cocoon.

Hi Christian,
thanks for the quick response. Your answer seems partially correct, since
then specifiy that in fo I can set an image height and
width successfully, take a 305dpi gif and transform it into a 305dpi picture
