Dear All.
One of my friend has IBM laptop with only 256MB RAM. Which Linux
distro should be the best for it???
Currently it has XP and is troubling a lot, so I suggested Linux, but
then when I found that the RAM was just 256MB, I was confused what to
do. Because Ubuntu is very user friendly, I
xbuntu will be good for that.
i once tried on the same config and work will with good graphics effects.

students and the program will be packed under 2 days session. Is it
possible. I will manage the expenditure to be covered to conduct the
program.

frequency out of range this problem is related with your screen

choosing distro depends upon what you want to do in your system.
Debian 5.0 with xfce also can be light weight. I have been
The distros I've mentioned above is a LXDE favor. Lightweight X11

For information check out http://lxde.org/ . It is somewhat KDE like

I am using xubuntu Lucid and it runs smooth as silk. For lower memory
the problem is the desktop environment rather than distro.
xfce and lxde are both lightweight desktop environments. Xfce is more
customizable and feature rich. I would recommend any debian based

Just adding to the case of prerequisites, the one, I think that is
going to be important, is your curiosity and persistence to learn.
Then an enthusiasm to work with (not for) others.
A Bonus would be good problem solving skills.

I think FOSS for education is a great idea.
May be we should bring together all the schools together this year for
orientation on FOSS. BTW what happened to the school curriculum development
endeavor ?
