Hi Bodvar: Actually, I do save my PDFs in the repository because that's part of our configuration management. Since the PDF files are part of the deliverable product, they get the same tag as the software files so that if we need to re-create a deliverable, we can retrieve them from the tag.

You can, however, save from 8 to the 7 file format. I've been editing 7 files in 8 and back-saving them without incident for more than a year. And unless you need to work with other people using 7 at the same time you're working, you can probably just save into the 7 format at the end of your

The only way to do this effectively is to save all the files as MIF, then run a grep program to search and replace the characters that get stripped out with an acceptable character or to remove it. If your grep program is capable you can do an internal search of the MIF files (they are text)

I am using Frame 8 on Windows XP. In the past week I've noticed that I'm unable to type apostrophes or quotation marks. All I get when I type that character is a question mark where the apostrophe should be. I've tried different fonts to no avail. Any idea what could be causing this? Joel

Is your default printer set to an Adobe PDF printer? It sounds as if you're using a hardware-specific font that uses a character that FM can't display. Using the fonts available to the PDF engine limits the selection to those that are actually installed on your system... Art Art Campbell
