Dear all,
Especially in the German lists there are discussions about misbehaving
words and the difficulty to get them out of the dictionary or get them
corrected in the dictionary.
Hence I decided to design a utility for [1]handling the dictionary

Hi Scott,
Unfortunately, I have no experience with structured Frame and the previous
writer did not leave the app definition file. I inherited only the FM9
files which consists of a book file with a few .xml files. Is there no
other way to do this without it? I only have Frame11.
Thanks,

No conversion. Just "install" the structured application you're using on FM9
into FM11. Then you should be able to open the XML files.
Should be able to copy the app files to FM11 in a similar location to where
they are in FM9. Then copy the structure app definition from FM9 to FM11.
Hi All,
Does anyone have any knowledge/tips/suggestions on how to convert a
structured book authored in Frame 9 to Frame 11? When I try to open the .xml
files (in Structured Frame 11) I get a ³Validation of XML failed.²
Thanks in advance for any help on this

Hi,

I have seen this with earlier versions of FM, and it is not FMs fault, but Microsofts.
With Windows 7, they changed how handshaking is done between computers.
I will send you offlist the remedy.

Any new features will be lost when opened in FM9 (like Object Styles). If you

I looked into this in December and this is the answer I received from Adobe:
If you need to purchase Framemaker 9 and Adobe Design standard CS 5, then you
need to purchase the Volume license copy of Framemaker 11 and Adobe Design
Standard CS 6 as Adobe is not selling FM 9 and CS 5 anymore
If you can find someone willing to part with (sell) a retail FM 9 license,
Adobe allows transfer of licenses, details are at

Thanks to everyone who responded to my FM 9 query. Like Alison, I also received
a response from Priyank at Adobe regarding the volume and backward licensing
option. (Thanks, Priyank!)
I've talked to my manager about the options, and I think we're going to hold
off trying to get a FM 9 license
But note that any FM9 license that was used to qualify for an upgrade to FM10
or FM11 has been deactivated (at least in theory...) and is no longer eligible
for transfer to a new owner.

Hi Yves,
There is no way I know of to access the content of the Insets pod, but you
could generate a report with FrameScript. Let me know how you would want the

In FrameMaker 9 and 10, you can see a list of missing graphics ("unresolved

way (or, if necessary, a Framescript) to export or save this list?
Thanks
