How do I kill sendmail? I set 'sendmail_enable=no' in /etc/rc.conf but
when I reboot the mail daemon is still up.

Hey,
So I have some ports open (111 and 1023) and I don't know why. How do I

Hi All,
I am installing 5.2.1 on a Compaq Presario R3000. I made the CDs with

The machine gets to the boot select screen okay, but no matter what

If the problem lay in the ACPI (my first guess) how would I fix it? Is
there something I could lift from one of the Linux distros to get my box
to work?

Hi All,
When my system boots up, it tries to start the 'usbdThis' daemon and
then it tries to load the 'This' module along with the Linux ABI stuff.
What files do I need to dig in to fix this problem?

Hi,
I'm on a Dell Latitude D600 with a CD-RW/DVD-R. When I try to mount the

You may want to try:
mount -t cd9660 /dev/acd0c /cdrom
or its equivalent:
mount_cd9660 /dev
I try to
mount ugen0, I get a message that sayeth:
Block device required.
What does this mean? What do I do?

Hi,
I gave my entire laptop's hard drive to FreeBSD, but I am beginning to have
second thoughts - a lot of my devices don't work. I think I might try dual
booting FreeBSD and, say, Gentoo. So this will probably work, because I'm only
using a small portion of the disk at present:
17 root # df
It turns out that I can mount data CDs - but I was trying to mount an unburned
CD. So I guess it's ironed out. The next thing in line - burning CDs - is not
likely to come up for another day or two.

Hi,
I would like to compile some OpenGL stuff on my BSD box. Unfortunately, the GL
libraries are not in /usr/include/GL - they are in /usr/X11R6/include/GL and my
C compiler does not see that by default.
One easy way around this is, I think, to just soft link /usr/X11R6/include/* to
No, because the libs have include statements in them. For example, in my source
code I might write:
#include /usr/X11R6/include/GL/glut.h
But this fails because glut.h has the following statements in it:
#include gl.h
#inlcude glu.h
For it to work, I would have to ammend it to say:
a little
while and I was hoping to get some feedback in the interim.
