worked after that.
however, the nve thru our freebsd router has had trouble several times, locking
the system up over frames with larger than 1500 mtu (or something to that
effect). my friend had to dump the nve and just settle for the linksys, in the
name of system system stability.

routine should immediately return NSS_STATUS_NOTFOUND. If you keep group
information for all the system users in /etc/group only, and add them all to
this line in nss_ldap.conf, it should remove the problem. (Warning: I haven't

DNS. If you want to check connectivity from within the jail to out,
you could always "telnet mail-server-ip 25". To check connectivity in,
you could try enabling the jail's sendmail server...

I've got two WD drives attached to a promise SATA300 TX4 controller.
The controller appears to be detected and reports the drives during
a verbose boot, but no devices are ever created and atacontrol list
fails to report them:
atapci0: port 0xc400-0xc47f,0xc800-0xc8ff
mem 0xde121000-0xde121fff,0
starts to generate error messages, try running fstat(1) on
/tmp to identify the offending processes.

does the trick. (changes the command that the daemon issues from 'shutdown
now' to shutdown -p now').
my email, web, and 2 dns servers, are all virtual machines running on a single
linux host. they run fantastic, and i couldnt be more pleased with their
performance.

ell enough that i cant really even tell they are virtual.
i really think bang for the buck, linux/vmware is the way to go for a
production level VM setup.
