Hmm you shouldnt have a /usr/local/bin/nmap/ directory.
whats the output of
ls -l /usr/local/bin/nmap
if it is a directory delete the directory, then try
cd /usr/ports/security/nmap
make deinstall clean
make install clean
which nmap

However, there are many software shops (companies) that
develop or support Unix (Linux, BSD, ...) softwar

If you wish to use them, you must turn them on.
edit your /etc/inetd.conf file and uncomment the lines that say
telnet
and
ftp
Save it and issue a SIGHUP to inetd.
