Replace hardcoded rules that intercontinental trade routes produce double
income, and international trade routes another double income with ruleset
defined trade % for each trade route type.

All other rulesets set to mimic old behavior by setting National = 100%,
NationalIntercontinental = 200%, International = 200%, and
InternationalIntercontinental = 400%, but in civ2civ3 ruleset set percentages
for national traderoutes to 0.

[Freeciv-Dev] [patch #3443] plrcolormode setting to take colours from nations

___

Details:

plrcolormode in 2.4 has modes where colouring is based on player number and on
team number.

For scenarios / rulesets like Alien World where a small number of nations are
defined, it would make sense to allow a given nation to always have its
characteristic colour (so, say, "J&W Corporation" is always blue).

This would require:
* New value for plrcolormode, NATION_ORDER.
* Nation specs to be able to optionally specify a colour.
** If one isn't specified in the ruleset file (as will be the case for our
"standard" nations), then this nation will use a randomly selected colour from
the game set (similar to PLR_SET).
* Setting plrcolormode=NATION_ORDER should warn if *no* nations in this
ruleset have colours defined, as completely random colours is probably not
what the user expected.

As new gtk_pixcomm functions from patch were already merged, it's time to use

Besides NIH factor, there's also a matter of current code leaking the pixbuf

conversions where possible.

This patch will not cover all of the cases yet, just the ones that took my

I assume stable branches are affected. There (at least) we can't do much more
than to change legal range of trademindist to 1-255.

I'm not sure if type used in network should be made bigger in trunk. 255 is
quite big distance for normal usage already, and we should provide cleaner
interface for disabling national trade.

Implementing set of new trade related features was one thing I was about to do
when my another computer went down - with some not-yet-submitted patches. I'll
keep need to have separate ruleset controls for different kinds of traderoutes
in mind when starting that work again.

It got supplanted when colours for 32 players were added (patch #).

Another thing to do: now we have plrcolormode=TEAM_ORDER, it would be nice if
the colour-based team names in the multiplayer ruleset weren't gratuitously
different from the colours they'd use with that colour mode. (This probably
means some more questionable colour names for translators.)

It's there to practically disable national trade - trademindist does not apply
when establishing traderoutes between nations. Actually, I don't remember if
trademindist applies even national traderoutes from continent to another.

"trademindist" has an advertised range of 1-999, and it ends up as an "int" in
packets_gen.h, but the underlying type in packets.def is a UINT8.

Noticed when browsing the online help for the civ2civ3 ruleset; it says:
* Can establish trade routes (must travel to target city and must be at least
231 tiles [in Manhattan distance] from this unit's home city).
I thought "that's a funny number". On the server, "trademindist" has the value
999. 231 is the obvious modular reduction.

(I haven't delved into why civ2civ3 is using that value, and if it's
intentional, whether we can make the online help not imply trade is useful --
those are separate issues.)

Your patch still makes sense even when lua is linked from correct places, and
it can be used to fix "--enable-shared --enable-aimodules" builds quickly - ai
modules are major new feature in 2.4 so it would be quite bad if their support
does not compile in 2.4.0-beta1.

compile again (S2_3, S2_4, trunk). Besides a strange compile error only for
i586 (bug #19975) I did found that I had to add -lm as hard dependency for
linking the included lua libraries (needed for the modpack tool as there is no
other dependency including it). Lua provides mathematic functions (at least
tan()) and thus requires to be linked with this lib. A quick and dirty hack is
attached. It is needed for S2_4 and trunk in combination with opensuse 12.1 or
tumbleweed.

For translators: there won't be a string freeze for this, but any

[Freeciv-Dev] [patch #3438] Make it possible to server operator to limit /rulesetdir usage

2012-07-24 Thread Marko Lindqvist
URL:

Summary: Make it possible to server operator to limit
/rulesetdir usage
 Project: Freeciv
Submitted by: cazfi
Submitted on: Tue 24 Jul 2012 12:39:18 PM EEST
Category: general
Priority: 5 - Normal
  Status: None
 Privacy: Public
 Assigned to: None
Originator Email:
 Open/Closed: Open
 Discussion Lock: Any
 Planned Release:

___

Details:

Command /rulesetdir is of level ctrl, so players can change the ruleset in
public servers. It should be possible for server operator to make it
impossible.
I would have needed this back when I run public servers of which some were
meant for alternative rulesets - players changing ruleset from what initial
script had set it worked against purpose of the server. Freeciv-web still has
(and will have some time) limitations causing it to require special ruleset
that avoids those limitations.

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #19971] mapimg: Spurious border lines around unknown tiles

2012-07-24 Thread Jacob Nevins
Follow-up Comment #2, bug #19971 (project freeciv):

> This should be similar to the borders plotted on the main map
The attached patch makes the main map and mapimg behave the same in this
regard. File #16169 is the result of the attached patch.

> (as far as I remember this terrain is unknown and there could
> be a city of another player?!

Indeed, there could in theory be another, non-cyan player's city in that
single square (and who-knows-what in the big dark area inside the purple
borders at the top of the attached images). But the server shouldn't leak this
information when drawing maps with incomplete knowledge, and the client (from
which these images were taken) doesn't even know.

Is the patch OK?

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #17843] City radius effects work only with city size requirements

2012-07-24 Thread Marko Lindqvist
Follow-up Comment #8, bug #17843 (project freeciv):

Even with classic ruleset (without varying city radius) autogames without and
with this patch differ. I guess that doesn't indicate error in patch, but is
to be expected with added city refreshes.
