[Audyssey] Sound affects?

[Audyssey] smugglers 4 question

2008-10-04 Thread alex wallis
hi list.
could someone please advise me how i register smugglers 4?
as when i load the game it asks for a name and a key, however I can only see
one edit field. so i enter my license name, then do a space and paste in my
license code.
however i then hit ok and it says they are invalid.
i have tried e mailing neils bower for support, and i keep getting my messages
returned saying they couldn't be delivered.
I also converted the manual to text format to more easily read it, and I
couldn't find anything in there about registration or the compatibility mode
for blind players.
I really hope this isn't a sign of bad things to come as so far i'm not
impressed.
i mean for god sake a manual with no information in about the really basic
things such as registering?

there are 2 types.
like me you have the stripped down version.
that does not allow you that sort of access.
you can have mic or stereo.
which is really bad.
there is no mic in the playback controls and there are seperate input and
output devices.

some cards are like that.
On xp my real tech high def card will not have mic and stereo mix on

the other laptop does I even tried upgrading the sounds resulting in a

some cards are set that way.

any external source. any ideas? Vista is really annoying me. Thanks for

Hi.

you don't need to actually enter a name, simply copy and paste your license
code.

I had fun registering my copy, sinse at the time I was not connected to the
net and had to ask my brother to buy it for me, then give me the setup file
and information on a memory key for my laptop.

I thought I might have to enter his name, but as it turned out simply
pasting the code was enough.

however i then hit ok and it says they are invalid.
i have tried e mailing neils bower for support, and i keep getting my
messages returned saying they couldn't be delivered.
I also converted the manual to text format to more easily read it, and I
couldn't find anything in there about registration or the compatibility
mode for blind players.
I really hope this isn't a sign of bad things to come as so far i'm not
impressed.
i mean for god sake a manual with no information in about the really basic
things such as registering?

Nod, you have the model 1 - my favorite. If its late at night, why, just
plug a pair of headphones into the available headphone jack and enjoy. The
neatest controller in the world is the 3do. Daisy chain, daisy chain...you
plugged each controller into the other controllers- player 2 plugged into
player 1- etc- and each controller had its own headphone jack.

Some games for the genny I holeheartedly recommend are the streets of rage
series, golden axe series and mortal kombat series. Oh and don't forget to
try out eternal champions.

Well, you know, it really does make a change to play games that have
content rather than all the jazzy looks. I've forgotten what moddle I
have, the recet button is below the power switch if that's any help. But
yes I love the old gaming systems. I think I'm going to have to get a
collection of them going lol. So far I have sonic 2, sylvester and
tweety, I love that game it's so close to the cartoon, and alien 3. have
just ordered gods from ebay as well. So yeah we'll just have to see what
happens won't we. I miss the old platform games. I think that games
should to a degree go back to them or we should have more platform games
out there still.

Hey Bryan and all.

Well my collection as far as older stuff goes includes a regular Atari

2600, an atari 2600 JR. an Atari 800, and 800XL, a 130XE, a Sega
Genisis, and an Atari Lynx plus various software and drives and
controlers for all systems. All of this gear works. For newer stuff
all I currently have is my psp but as I said I am working on picking
up probably a ps2 for a newer home console fairly soon. I still
really like the old game systems but I must admit I am really starting

to enjoy the newer stuff as well which was not the case until fairly
recently.

Best regards,

I happen to have an Atari, a regular NES, Super NES, Game Boy Advance

and Game Cube. Not a massive collection but the Atari still works,
which is rare
these days. Of course I did recently discover a web site whose owner
specializes in just such things as Atari and the other older gaming
systems.
I've never gotten a defective product from him, Systems, joysticks,
games,
you name it he probably has it in stock from time to time. They're a

bit

pricy but considering he completely rebuilds everything and tests it
thoroughly before selling it it's worth it. As I said I've never once
gotten a defective game or other product from him. And he accepts
PayPal, so ordering is fairly easy.

things will already be as old as the atari or ness is now. - 20 years later.
The genny and sega cd will, probably, stop working and will become very
rare, and the atari? Thouse will be like those Plymouth furies from 1969
that are preserved and put in musiums. See here, kids. This here is where
your simulated racing games came from. (I wonder what games will be like in

I always recommend www.sounddogs.com. They offer free sounds, and I usually
search for a sound, then, copy the name - and then save that file, it';ll be
named some wierd thing like 125467325.mp3, so delete that and paste what the

I know my friends card did have line in. Try out the Sound blaster cards.
Those things rock- I have a sound blaster live card on a desktop here- its
old but it gets the job done, and it stil sounds just as good now as it did
4 years ago, when I got it. Better than both of the other computers I have
here, anyway - one with a SiS 7018 soundcard and this laptop with a
Connecsant.

The one with the SiS, though, is from 2002- and it really doesn't have bad
sound.

there are 2 types.

that does not allow you that sort of access.
you can have mic or stereo.
which is really bad.
there is no mic in the playback controls and there are seperate input and

Subject: [Audyssey] microphone and stereo mix question for windows vista.

Ok hopefully someone could answer this. Off list is fine if you guys don't
want to clutter the list. Does anyone know how to enable both stereo mix
and

the microphone on windows vista? I can only enable one or the other, not
both. I'd really like to do some game recordings, but I can't figure out
how

to do this. Also I don't see a line-in option either, and there was
definitely one on xp. so now I can't record from any external source. any
ideas? Vista is really annoying me. Thanks for any help!

[Audyssey] ship combat in smugglers 4

2008-10-04 Thread alex wallis
i got my copy of smugglers 4 registered eventually.
however now i'm having fun with ship to ship combat.
i actually find this system a hell of a lot less user friendly than the one in
smugglers 3.
my main problem is actually focusing on options with the jaws cursor in order
to click them.
for example, i no my ship has guns but i find it virtually impossible to find
the guns option to click them.
also, i'm finding that several options at least according to jaws are read over
several lines like the trackter beam options.
my other main problem is that if i find a line on that has an option i want to
click, and i have the jaws cursor on, when i use control left or control right
to try to jump across the line to click it i get jumped to completely different
bits of the screen.
so is the ship combat screen one that still has to be made accessible?
or is this one he has claimed to have made accessible as i really am not
finding this screen friendly. a drop down menu would have been far more easy to
work with or a few menus. if this screen is one he has said is accessible i
want my money back.

2008-10-04 Thread dark

Hi Alex.

the ship combat screen is fully accessible, however please note you have to
activate compatibility mode first in the options screen, if you haven't done
this, combat will be very difficult indeed, and several options on the main
screen will be unreadable as well.

Does anyone else have the problem, compatibility mode on, when like your'e

but is a graphic? I know that it's accessible and what not, but for some
reason some plannets just vanish from my screen.

Re: [Audyssey] quake, a question.

2008-10-04 Thread Dakotah Rickard
I'm by no means a Quake Guru, but there's an excellent tutorial in the
appendix of the Audio Quake manual which gives websites with list upon
list of single player and QuakeWorld server commands.
I don't remember the command to enable cheats, but I do remember
encountering it.

As for other mods, I'm not sure yet whether Audio Quake will support
them or not, and if it does, how much of that support will be
difficult to handle.

Consider this as an example of what I mean. I am a blind player who
has introduced several people to Audio Quake. Audio Quake is a
modification on the 3-dimensional game Quake, which traditionally
required the ability to aim vertically as well as horrizontally. I,
one of three blind players and five sighted players in the group of
people I've introduced, am the only one who thought to do the research
and allow for the aspect of vertical aiming. This goes to show how
little research people are willing to do to fix problems. Research is
difficult, but Quake was an extremely popular game. There are many
tutorials out there.

I would very much like to assist people if I am able, but I need to
know a little more about what people want.

hi! yesterday I revisited quake since we had a klango discussion on the
polish forums. and 2 questions come in to my head.
 1. anyway to get the cheats working? I've red the cheats and for example,
typing God in the consile gives me the message cheats are not allowed
on this server. but this happens no matter where, in my bot
deafthmatches, or the single player games.
 2. will AudioQuake work with other mods? I mean, will it work only with
 jedi quake?

well for all the issues of no mic and stereo mix options running together like
having a mic in stereo mix the hd audio cards even the express versions still
put a load of vertual surround sound and 3d stuff even in stereo.

Those things rock- I have a sound blaster live card on a desktop here- its old

years ago, when I got it. Better than both of the other computers I have here,
anyway - one with a SiS 7018 soundcard and this laptop with a Connecsant.

The one with the SiS, though, is from 2002- and it really doesn't have bad

there are 2 types.
like me you have the stripped down version.
that does not allow you that sort of access.
you can have mic or stereo.
which is really bad.
there is no mic in the playback controls and there are seperate input and

Hi matheus and all,
In the future please take questions like this to the proper list such as
a Jaws specific mailing list as this has nothing to do with gaming.
However, since I hav already written this much I will answer your
question. When the Jaws curser is active you can use the multiply key,
star key, on the numpad to send a left mouse click to the application.
If I am not mistaken for the laptop mode it is Capslock+8 for a left
mouse click, but don't hold me to it since I rarely use the Jaws laptop
mode.

Cheers.

Ok wait a sec. Is it vista, or the card? If it is the card, which one should
I buy then? I'm using a laptop, so external cards are definitely preferable.
thanks!

Hi

I was trying to help a friend with that exact same card. Unfortunately,
you can only have one or the other- yet another reason for me to never go
to vista- I tried it on a computer at school and hunted around for a long
time finding it.

Ok hopefully someone could answer this. Off list is fine if you guys
don't
want to clutter the list.

Re: [Audyssey] ship combat in smugglers 4

2008-10-04 Thread alex wallis
hi.
i have activated compatibility mode.
as there is that anoying thing at the top of the screen that says compatibility
mode for visually impaired players and then something about turning it off.
i can now find the guns option consistently when using the jaws cursor, however
i am having serious problems trying to click other options in the combat screen
such as the one that lets you activate things that aren't directly firing
weapons i forget what its called as its like 4 in the morning here, as other
options just get in the way.
my problem is focusing the damb options because i frequently find for example
that bits of some options are on lines with ones that i want to click, and i
just can't focus on them.
i am really thinking of asking for my money back unless i can get in touch with
neils bower to talk to him about my problems, or unless someone else has a
solution to my problems.
my personal oppinion is that its great he's trying to build in accessibility,
but the smugglers interface was not designed with blind people in mind, as a
result massive use of the jaws cursor makes navigating around options a lot
harder than it really should be. i think if he wants to build in accessibility
maybe we should all politely try to get him to join this list, and then enter
into a discussion with him about designing a completely new interface for blind
players that would take advantage of using the pc cursor, list boxes and
conventional menus.
the other thing that also really anoys me with the combat system is having to
click continue after every damb thing like firing a gun or missile there is
just no need for it.

Re: [Audyssey] microphone and stereo mix question for windows vista.

2008-10-04 Thread shaun everiss
its the card yohandy.
I have the same issue in xp.
and its still a laptop card.
if you need some sort of recording thing, I don't know.
they do cost a load of cash the externals.
I have heard the audygy s2zzs is good although the microphone amp is not that
clean.
Myself I have this box but I also have an older laptop that uses an old
soundmax which has the functionality you describe.
If you have a del laptop you can buy the feature for having the microphone and
stereo mix for 90 I think.
