Re: [Audyssey] How Do Dr. Bastard's Tarot Cards WorkInAudioDefenceFor iOS?
Dark, the confusion was mine. I didn't realize the statistical differences between reviving and ending the game. I wasn't paying close enough attention to that aspect. So you're right, it wouldn't be a cheat to end the game. Teresa Winging its way from my iPod On Nov 27, 2014, at 3:41 AM, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: I'm a bit confused Teresa what you mean here about revive for diamonds being a cheat. In an endless game there are combo and coins multiplyers as you go on, which means the longer you last the more coins and points, and indeed diamonds you get. I don't know the exact nature of the maths involved, but it is something like shooting the first 10 zombies will give 20 coins each, the second 10 30 coins etc. If you revive, it's as if you never died and you start with the same coin and point multiplyers. If you start another endless game, your coin and point multiplyers start from zero. So, I'm a little confused why using that game over button is a cheat, you might as well say playing again when you die is a cheat. Indeed I do usually hit game over myself sinse I am saving up my diamonds for the sonic cannon and don't see the point in spending them on revives to up my coins and score. Re: [Audyssey] A dark room.
Hi, Well i started with a dark room on monday. I quite liked it at first and it was quite addictive. But at a certain point it was not clear to me what i needed to do. I could not seem to find any new locations and if i wanted to explore unexplored locations i would not have enough water. I also started the ensign but i liked the dark room better because it also has building and resource management. Greetings, Anouk, On 28 Nov 2014, at 08:22, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi paul. Re: [Audyssey] How Do Dr. Bastard's Tarot Cards Work InAudioDefenceFor iOS?
Well, there is no choice at the present but to play the game as is. The card shuffling feature is broken. I don't have particular problems with that. It's just a game, after all, and the scores without the thunderstorms more than make up for the ones with. Teresa Winging its way from my iPod On Nov 27, 2014, at 4:08 PM, Cara Quinn caraqu...@caraquinn.com wrote: Of course, all of this can be solved simply by leaving the game as is. :) I believe Thomas made a good point in that it plainly comes down to honesty with yourself / others. Well you can have that too. :) To also add a bit here about the current state of the tarot cards; The diamond cost allows you to keep one tarot card while reshuffling another. I.E. the reason for the cost now is not for reshuffling itself, it is to allow you to keep a favorable option while discarding a less favorable one. So in essence, you can take your chances freely reshuffling both cards and losing a favorable option as well as one you do not like. Or you can spend diamonds to keep the favorable option. So I question at this point whether this current scheme is really a loophole or not. Regardless though, why not just do as Dark does and keep both options if you want a challenge, and if you need a lighter or more friendly gaming experience, then simply allow for what is already available now in the game? Say for example there were 20 cards in the deck, every card that was removed, thus making that particularcondition or event not to occur in an endless game gave a %5 reduction in coins gained from zombies. That way players could still get the challenge, but there would be a bonus in the game to those who wanted the full range of conditions available, they would get more coins and thus earn their weapon upgrades faster, though equally being a percentage bonus it would not bar players without those conditions from earning them either. Of course, you could have free mode or condition setting, but to be honest I rather like the random idea in the tarot cards, and I believe part of their point is that you don't know from game to game what the background conditions are, thus making eaceh game of what is essentially an arcade game a bit more unique, some with faster zombies, some with zombies that are more aggressive, some with zombies that give coin bonuses etc. Of course, Somethinelse would need to know that there were players who's hearing problems caused the background conditions to be difficult, in order for them to make this sort of change. Hi, I have never heard of puppet nightmares, what is that? Aegis (it used to be called differently in the past i forgot its original title) is a sort of empire building game where you start with a small piece of land and you have to make more of it while feeding your population/keeping it happy and defending your lands. It works with resources and you build buildings in order to creat them and for example to be able to get different kind of trained soldiers. You also build things like walls to defend your land. Re: [Audyssey] A dark room.
Hi Anouk. Beware! dark room spoilage below don't read anymore unless your on a dusty path. The first thing to note, is once you have explored a location it turns into an outpost, going there you will get your water filled up again and some cured meet to collect if you have the inventory space, so you can explore in stages. Funnily enough I didn't realize this at first myself either and I initially believed the game was impossible to complete for a while sinse one of the major locations you need to get to is a long way away. Also, if you die of thirst five times, you get the desert rat perk which will let you travel two squares for each unit of water used rather than one. Finally, keep checking in with the builder. Once you discover more resources on the map, you'll be able to build more items, some of which drastically improve water use. finally I would highly recommend finishing A Dark room before starting the ensign, sinse The Ensign is much harder, and actually a lot like the hard mode version of A Dark room, (you'll find out about hard mode once you finish the game). Re: [Audyssey] browser empire game, rise of chaos
Hi Anouk. I've not heard of Eagis specifically, but there are a lot of those styles of games around. Personally I never felt that interested sinse to me, fighting and exploring the environment to protect your population is much more interesting than watching a bunch of static timers and playing who can grind the fastest against other human players, then again I'm much more a single player sort of bod anyway. Puppet nightmares is a browser based game, sort of like a dark and twisted version of Pokemon.dark and slightly adult version of Pokemon. You collect, control and breed magical creatures called soul puppets, going through a story about a child in germany who has lost his/her brother and finds that they were involved with a certainly very dark and magical game. The game is slightly adult (it has for example a brothel where soul puppets may breed and lay egs to produce new ones), and also horribly complex. You control three puppets at once and usually fight parties of three enemies, each can have their own actions, with different moves, diciplins etc, in addition each has equipment, elemental weaknesses and all sorts of other complexity. The only really major issue with the game is that there isn't much by way of explanitory text, the battles, though mechanically very complex all have descriptions like jo uses wind hammer on jane for 280 damage and though there are lots of npcs to talk to and do quests for, you just get their dialogue and not the descriptions. It's a game where though the rules and mechanics are all accessible, some of the atmosphere is imho a bit lost. Still, it is free to play although it has a very fare system of donation currency and is definitely one if you like tactical turn based battling and a slightly disturbing story. I'd recommend you look at http://www.audiogames.net/db.php?id=Puppet+nightmares sinse the web pages require some navigation having hotspots, mouseovers and links, although everything in the game is labeled and accessible, it just helps to know your screen readers' web navigation tools to speed up looking through headings, buttons, mouseovers etc. Hth. Re: [Audyssey] A dark room.
SPOILERS BELOW Hi Dark, I only died a few times since i was quick to get guns and a steel sword plus steel armor and i had some nice perks evade and precision among them so i could indeed go for that Rat perk. I guess i will try my luck again in a month or so, if you give it a few good hours then it is not that difficult to get everything up and running. btw: i myself had a lot of hunters some trappers and some gatherers i got the rest of the resources i needed from the merchant. Next time i will try some actual mining to get the resources quicker. Greetings, Anouk, On 28 Nov 2014, at 11:28, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi Anouk. Beware! dark room spoilage below don't read anymore unless your on a dusty path.
Hi Dark, Thanks for that. I dont mind a game being adult (although there is a difference between adult/dark themes and just being profane for the sake of it). I will certainly try this one out. I also in general like singleplayer games better but you have to work with what is available. Greetings, Anouk, On 28 Nov 2014, at 11:39, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi Anouk. Hth. You can become part of a clan. I am not sure if it is even around anymore a quick google search does not seem to bring up the relevant page. Greetings, Anouk, On 24 Nov 2014, at 11:52, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi Anouk. What is Aegis? I thought I knew and had played most browser rpgs, though I don't recognize that one. I agree with you about KoL, I got a little sick of needing to use the wiki so much, I also didn't like the fact that once the donation item was gone for a month, well tough luck! I don't mind games with a monthly subscription if the game is good, or with items available to buy, but it actually seemed quite a wasteful bit of game design to go to the trouble of programming new items with interesting effects and often access to new areas then only offer them once. Quite different from Puppet nightmares and the way that game recycles it's monthly items. All the best, Dark. There is always more to know, more to see, more to learn. Re: [Audyssey] A dark room.
wow Anouk the merchant? That is a gouge fest, I can see why your progressing slowly if that is the case, (the merchant is a necessity on hard mode but if your using villagers there is no problem). What you need to do is build all the structures to concentrate on resources, including 20 huts for the max 80 population, supplimenting what your villaggers find for you with what you can gather from caves, towns and the city, that's the fun thing about A dark room, discovering new places to go on the map and new things to build while your villagers have at it. Follow the compass and it will point you to the places you need to go to finish the game. The game will progress when you have discovered all resources and built all the buildings, I'd also definitely recommend exploring as much as possible sinse that is the way to learn all about the game's world and setting, including just who your protagonist is. Core exiles accessibility mode removing grinding? 'I don't know about that. i played Ce very seriously up until last year. The game does have a lot of grinding, but the point is to do as much as you can and as many things as possible. If you just! do combat or mining or hauling you'll get very board, but the idea is themore you do the more you can do, and your rewarded with expantions to the game. I haven't played for quite a while, but I'd recommend perciveering with it, particularly sinse it is the only online rpg I know with zero pvp at all. Beware the grue! [Audyssey] thoughts on Flare Star
I'm looking for people's thoughts on this game, which I am considering buying for playing on my iPhone. Rather than quick comments that don't give an idea for the game such as good game, or give it a try, or even questions like, What game is this?, or Where can I get it? I'm looking for the thoughts of those who have actually been playing the game. How is the sound? What is the game plot? How do you find the navigation of the game? How difficult do you find the game? What about replay value? Thanks in advance. --- Be positive! Re: [Audyssey] thoughts on Flare Star
Hi Charles, I played this game on my Mac, and couldn’t get very far at all. Unfortunately, I found myself spending a lot of time exploring with the arrow keys, trying to accomplish the goal of the level I was playing. I also found myself referring to the Flarestar walkthrough time and time again. In my opinion, this game is a disappointment. “She Noire”, “Inquisitor’s Heartbeat” and “Audio Speed” are much better games. Re: [Audyssey] A dark room.
Thanks Dark, See what you mean about it being an expansion to the dusty path, kind of a little more like the dark room on hard because of the limited resources. The weapons having a durability adds an interesting challenge to, knowing that your weapon only has a certain lifespan means you have to be slightly more careful with when you use them. Although saying that it was probably my downfall in the first game I just finished playing, as I died when I encountered an enemy with 40 health and all I had was fists and a knife with 0% durability. Not sure if it's a bug or not but I noticed that if you die and restart the punch level up doesn't seem to reset, not that I'm complaining that's been helpful in the next game I've started since its not gone back to level 1 Paul -Original Message- From: Gamers [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of dark Sent: Friday, November 28, 2014 7:22 AM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] A dark room. Re: [Audyssey] A dark room.
I think the level up punch is supposed to mitigate the games difficulty somewhat, indeed if you start a game it's better to play until you die for that reason. just because The Ensign doesn't have the resource management, that doesn't mean you can run through the game just visiting the notable places, indeed you need to visit caves regularly for your improved weapons. I will admit I've not got as far in The Ensign as I would like, indeed a couple of resources I've not yet found a use for, sinse there is one bit where thus far I've always died which i'm not sure how to escape, but annoyingly it's about half an hour into the game. If I can't work out how to pass that particular section, or at least what stratogy to use to avoid it I might end up having to e-mail the developer, but I don't think I'm out of ideas yet.
