Hi,
Yeah, I got mine for Christmas. it was purchased from Wal-mart and my
wife only paid something like $15.00, but it seams the SGC2909 series are
no longer in production. So it might be much harder to get now.

Re: [Audyssey] any recommendations for a good gaming joystick?

2009-05-06 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Constantine,

When I bought my steering wheel the store had two models. The one I bought for
$100.00 does have a gear shift knob, but it is just two positions. That is
forward click and backward click. Now at the store they had another model for
I believe $300.00 that did also besides the gas and brake peddles have a clutch
peddle. I am thinking that it may have had a multi position gear shift knob as
well, but don't know as they were in a box and I didn't take them out to check
them out.

BFN

Jim

I bought a device that slices right through the packaging on CDs, but I can't
get it out of the box.

Hi.
I have the 2910, and I don't like it. The vibrator doesn't work right and I
can't change the vibration speed. Software that works with it crash when I
close them, like topspeed, if they have tried to use the vibrators at some
point wwhile they were running.

Yah, had a friend when i lived in los angeles that had a racing setup in
an old bathtub he had padded out, with a huge subwoofer underneath and
dolby 5.1 around the tub, and his steering wheel mounted inside the tub
with a big friggin monitor on a custom platform. His racing wheel was a
custom aluminum job, cost over a thousand dollars, and had a clutch as
well, although as I remember there was only one racing game at the time
that would take advantage of the clutch.
He was so dedicated to realism he wore gloves and a helmet while racing,
the dude was into it. I used to be in an online racing league with him,
and he was by far the best of us all, in both oval track and road courses.
Those online racing leagues were a total blast, because all the guys in
them were die hard racing fans, like myself.

Speaking of, wonder what I can get an antique bathtub for on eBay...

I used to have a sidewinder steering wheel too. It was good but I never
really got the hang of using it. I loved the gas pedal and break, but
what I'd love is a racing wheel with an actual gear shift - though its
probably way out of my price range. I hear there are real life driving
games with wheels with a clutch, break, and gas pedal. Now that would be
fun.

I use a logitec wingman rumblepad. As the name implies the controller
includes motors for force feedback. You need to install the software
from the cd or internet in order for games to pick up on its force
feedback qualities. It's a nice gimic but the rumble isn't very
powerful. I got the controller cerca 2001. It looks kind of like a
hybrid between the ps2 and dreamcast/xbox1 controllers - two wacky
looking protrusions out front, 2 decent (if a little flimsy) analog
sticks, 6 main buttons (which are a little small), a d-pad and a few
other buttons for switching control from d-pad to left analog stick
and back and toggling force feedback on/off. It isn't the best
controller - I used to have a microsoft sidewinder whose buttons and
dpad were a little more solid and big - but it's fun to use with games
especially top speed. One advantage resultant of joystick use in-game
is that you don't have to shut down your screenreader (and in some
cases, you don't even have to have the game window in focus - I can
play topspeed while chatting in an msn window though I won't be able
to hear the other cars on the track).

Re: [Audyssey] any recommendations for a good gaming joystick?

2009-05-05 Thread James Dietz

2009-05-05 Thread Scott Chesworth
I may have asked this before, sorry if that's the case. Does anyone
happen to know where I could pick up a Philips retractable in the UK?
I'm totally diggin rail racer with the mouse, but think that an analog
stick to take the curves with might be even more instinctive for me
seeing as I grew up as a console gamer.

So I suspect I won't be playing with a stick.

its not ffb however its got 8 buttons as supposed to the ffb stick I have which

it does mean that I will have no keyboard control but means I can map more

I don't have the cash to get any extra things.
maybe if I sell my controlers one of these days I may have the cash for
something although this is the last time i will get an actual stick, I think my

I used to have a sidewinder steering wheel too. It was good but I never
really got the hang of using it. I loved the gas pedal and break, but what
I'd love is a racing wheel with an actual gear shift - though its probably
way out of my price range. I hear there are real life driving games with
wheels with a clutch, break, and gas pedal. Now that would be fun.

cases, you don't even have to have the game window in focus - I can
play topspeed while chatting in an msn window though I won't be able
to hear the other cars on the track).

Re: [Audyssey] any recommendations for a good gaming joystick?

2009-05-05 Thread Che
Yah, had a friend when i lived in los angeles that had a racing setup in
an old bathtub he had padded out, with a huge subwoofer underneath and dolby
5.1 around the tub, and his steering wheel mounted inside the tub with a big
friggin monitor on a custom platform. His racing wheel was a custom aluminum
job, cost over a thousand dollars, and had a clutch as well, although as I
remember there was only one racing game at the time that would take
advantage of the clutch.
He was so dedicated to realism he wore gloves and a helmet while racing,
the dude was into it. I used to be in an online racing league with him, and
he was by far the best of us all, in both oval track and road courses. Those
online racing leagues were a total blast, because all the guys in them were
die hard racing fans, like myself.

Speaking of, wonder what I can get an antique bathtub for on eBay...
