Hi Che,
I can just imagine a game like RR2 on iPhone. That would rock--tilt the
device to steer, lift it quickly to jump, that kind of thing.
As far as interface goes, I agree 1000%. If you take a game like Code Name
Cygnus and match it with a similar game for the sighted, well there is just
Hey Cara,
Sure, that's one of two or three ways around that particular example.
It's obviously good that the functionality exists, but it doesn't
really put my gripe about how much the default keystrokes suck to bed
does it? Whether it's quicker probably depends on which setting your
rotor was
Hi Cara,
You said: For this particular case, it is even quicker than with
something like JFW.
I say: I'll have to respectfully disagree with that.
I don't use JFW at all, but rather NVDA.
The hot keys for jumping forward and backward by heading are H and shift
+ H.
And for link are K and
I actually agree Ian.
While I really like the Iphone touch screen for quick navigation in complex
interface or peaces of information such as King of dragon pass when you want
a specific thing that is at a specific part of the screen, for basic textual
navigation or for just finding controls I
Hi Cara and all,
Just wanted to let folks know I answered Cara off list, and I am going to
be taking another stab at iOS development once I finish rr2 and online
cribbage, both of which are very close to full deployment at long last.
I think some very interesting audio games have been
Hi Che.
I do agree the ios interface particularly in terms of direction and analogue
control really hasn't had as much work as it should, which is quite a shame
when even a simple arcade title like Sixth sense can be far more engaging
with the directional finger gestures than a similar game
Hi Che,
I assume by finger acrobatics you are talking about the way you have
to interact with GUI components to activate them etc with VoiceOver. I
agree it is strange, not as efficient as using Jaws, but after a while
it becomes second nature. I think Mac OS X accessibility is very good,
but it
Che was probably talking about the amount of modifier keys that need
to be held down to execute some VoiceOver specific commands. I own a
Mac, use it often, but would agree that it's ridiculous. Case in
point, had I been reading this thread using Gmail's web interface in
Safari and wanted to jump
Hi Scott,
Just use the rotor on the trackpad and then all you need do is flick up or down
with one finger to navigate between headings.
For this particular case, it is even quicker than with something like JFW.
I agree that there still needs to be quite a bit of streamlining to say the
least,
Hey ya
Bryan and all,
I'd love to do RR on iphone, but it is a very complex game, so probably
not.
At this point, I don't have the programming skills to do even a hello
world on iOS.
However, I have looked very seriously at iOS
What games do you consider standouts for IOS and why? Thanks.

Hi Che,
Thanks for such a thoughtful note.
As far as iOS development goes, I develop professionally for iOS with
LookTel.com and also work with DraconisEntertainment.com, so I use the Mac and
XCode daily.
As for Mac accessibility lacking the iOS sheen, you're only partially correct
