g_b A Little Too Well Endowed
A guy goes to see the doctor, because he's been a little too well endowed, shall we say. In fact, it's 25 inches long. Can't get any women to have sex with him. No men either, one would think. Anyway, the doctor says there's nothing he can do medically, but sends him to see a witch that he thinks might be able to help.Witch takes a look at the problem (yikes!) and tells him to go to a particular pond, deep in the forest, and talk to a frog that lives there. "Ask the frog to marry you and each time the frog says no, you'll be 5 inches shorter."Worth a try, he thinks, and off he dashes into the forest, as anyone in this sort of joke would. Finds the pond and sees the frog on the other side, sitting on a log. "Will you marry me?" he calls to the frog.Frog looks at him, disinterested at best, and calls back, "No."Guy looks down, sure enough, he's 5 inches shorter. Hey, this is great, he thinks -- let's try that again. "Will you marry me?" he asks the frog.Frog rolls his eyes, and shouts back again, "No!"Twitch -- the guy's down to 15 inches. Well that's still a bit excessive, he thinks. Down another 5 would be perfect. So he calls across again, "Will you marry me?"Frog yells back, "Look - how many times do I have to tell you? No. No. NO!" __Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: g_b Re: Celeb gay-speak bares all
Sorry, I do not have Indira's Goswami's email address, but your mail comes as a good rebuttal of her views. While I do find these reactions offensive, we should also have patience to put up as well as systeatically counter their prejudices and ignorance. It needs time for society to evolve. A spread of the fact among the general population that homosexuality is just a normal variant of human sexuality , countering lots of negatives attributed to the homosexual population, dissemination of statistics of how many Indians could be homosexuals - even by thought and not necessarily by action- [ a survey conducted by India Today on the sexuality of the Indian male sometime back did not even touch the topic of homosexuality!] , leading a life of dignity and grace by the homosexual population, boldly coming out with one's preference atleast if one finds one's soul mate, allaying certain fears of the heterosexual population about the homosexual population and many more such systematic endeavours , I feel , can do good in in the long term. 1.7.2005 shokraiuk [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I find Indira Goswami's comments interesting to say the least, especially in view of the fact that she has been on record making the following statements: 1) a person should have the right to live at a place of her choice (in respect of Taslima Nasreen's demand for Indian citizenship) 2) We do not want any book to be banned. A person's right to express herself should be her birth-right (in respect of Government ban on Nasreen's book 'Dwikhondito) I want to email her and ask her why, in view of above statements from her, I should not have my right to love and show compassion to whoever I want to. Alas, I cannot find her email address. Perhaps someone here can help me if they know the address. And while I wirte to her I will also take the opportunite to inform her that I find her comment 'Only those who have never known the beauty of love and compassion can be homosexuals' deeply offensive, especially in view of the fact that I have, given and received, more love and compassion that many of my straight colleagues. I will do it in the sweetest possible way as I am full of compassion..unlike you know who! Why should they be treated any different from others? I don't understand why there should be so much apprehension about the issue. Everyone has the right to live life as they see fit and make their own choices. There should be no discrimination on the basis of sexual preferences. Alyque Padamsee (Ad guru) It is unfortunate that homosexuality is still looked upon as a social stigma in some parts of our country. I think it's a wonderful expression of human love. The fact that it's becoming more and more acceptable in cities like Mumbai is certainly a positive sign. Indira Goswami (Writer) Only those who have never known the beauty of love and compassion can be homosexuals. I find the practice disgusting. Mallika Sarabhai (Dancer and social activist) It's a personal choice and way of living. Everyone is free to live life the way they want to. What's wrong in that? But at the same time I feel that each one of us is different and may have different ways of celebrating love. Jackie Shroff (Actor) I have no problems with homosexuals or homosexuality. Re: g_b Kindly Read Once !!
Hi Buddha Your note on casual sex is interesting to read but your conception about casual sex is wrong. You have compared casual sex with animal sex, that means you are ignorant about the animal sex. Animals are triggered to have sex once in a season - that is all, and they are only attracted by the chemicals produced by the female partner. For that act, animals have to compete with other animals and succeed. Whearas the Gay persons tend to have casual sex only because they have NO PARMANENT PARTNER. To have a parmanent partner we should be in CANADA. ok. Buddha Speaks [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: HI All I'm a new member to this group.Hope you guys out there would enjoy my ideas and views.I don't intend to offend anyone in anyway. I would like to draw all of your attention to the topic of CASUAL SEX Casual Sex is now acceptable than it was before, because nowadays younger people have the freedom and opportunity to meet people through college, through friends and also through Internet. However remember Casual Sex in a committed relationship is nothing more than giving in to our Animal instincts. Casual Sex is bad because its not good sex.Human relations are not just the quest for the perfect orgasm, instead our lives are an attemptto overcome the animal instinct, to commit our-self to one person and by that committment to give our lives a MEANING.That committment then defines us and within that context Sex is meaningful and Good. If we have Sex like animals , we feel like Animals, thats Simple. Love and Sex goes hand-in-hand.Its that physiological Sex that createsa flood of hormones that naturally creates a band. Oxytoxin(teh same hormone that is released when a mother breast feeds her child) makes us feel close to a partner and Dopamine makes us feel content in their company, both of which are released during Sex. So before Casual Sex we were clear headed, sure that we could walk away with no regrets. After Sexwe may suddenly feel involved, emotionally intimate whether we like it or not and whether its wise or not. Result?? Casual Sex may simply be a bad idea for us because it can create feelings that we can't control not to mention needs that we cannot meet. Hence if you are in a committed relationship, avoid having Casual Sex with every attractive people you meet. This would keep your relation healthy and kicking. Enjoy every moiment of intimacy with your loved one, not with everyone or anyone... If some of these throughts make sense to you and if you feel rthat you have been involved in Casual Sex inspite of having a Loving partner, who is faithful to you, Please do get back to him. If he really loves you , then throw open your Casual Sex encounters in frnt of him and make a promise to your own self that you will try an avoid it in future. Give him a warm hug, and believe me if you love is true then your partner will feel your warmth and BINGO!! you are in the best phase of your life once again. Remember, There is no good deed oin this world you can do , but to love someone who loves you unconditionally. Life is Boomerang!!! Whatever you give to others will come back to you in full returns. Hope I may be able to touch some lives and try and make their relationship better. All the best to you guys out there.Committ yourself and enjoy life. The second man said, "My son was a car salesman and now he owns a multi-line dealership. Hes so successful that he gave a friend two Cadillacs." The third man, not wanting to be outdone bragged, "My son is a stock broker and hes doing so well that he gave his friend an entire stock portfolio." The fourth man joined them on the tee after a few minutes of taking care of business. The first man mentioned, "We were just talking about our sons. How is yours doing?" g_b BBC: Firdaus Kanga
A piece from the BBC website by Firdaus Kanga on growing up gay in Bombay. Firdaus is an amazing guy and hugely entertaining. His book, Trying To Grow, is one of the most funny, warm and lively books about growing up in Bombay. It was also pretty much the first Indian book I read which openly talked about the sexuality of the narrator (obviously a thinly disguised Firdaus). For much of the novel Brit, the narrator feels he is gay and is attracted to his very hunky neighbour Cyrus. Cyrus tries reciprocating, but can't really, and after that, for some reason, Brit's homosexuality also sort of evaporates and he finds a female lover in Cyrus' girlfriend Amy, who ditches Cyrus for him. To be honest, the moment this happens the book loses a lot of its energy and Amy is easily the deadest character in a book otherwise full of very vivid ones. I wasn't in any doubt that the author of the book was gay and this helped me hugely, though Firdaus would not be too flattered at the reason (though when I met him and told him he was gracious about it). Which was simply because if the writer was as disabled as Firdaus was, but didn't have problems dealing with his sexuality, I had no excuse for being so repressed about mine. Not the nicest argument from a disabled rights point of view, but an honest one. Anyway, Firdaus would be the last to care much about this sort of political correctness. He told me that when he went to the UK he was received with delight by activists there because he seemed to score a triple round in the minority sweepstakes - he was gay, disabled and Asian. But they reckoned with Firdaus who is a Parsi conservative monarchist to the core and Margaret Thatcher was his heroine. I told them I was fine with being gay and Asian, but I HATED being disabled and didn't see that as a reason for pride. Rout of activists. I only wish he came back to visit Bombay more often. And also that Ravi Dayal, his publisher, would shake himself out of his customary lethargy and re-issue the novel, which is now impossible to find. I know that Penguin had agreed to reprint it, but unless Firdaus and Dayal get things going its not going to happen, which would be a monumental shame. Hopefully it might be out by the next time he comes to India and we can invite him to GB to read and talk about it, Vikram from bbc.co.uk: Broken bones and a broken heart Firdaus Kanga Throughout South Asia, homosexuality has been a taboo subject. There are signs in some areas that gay people are now becoming more open - but that is not always the case. In the latest in a series of articles about gay people from the region, Firdaus Kanga reflects on his life. Born into a Parsi family in Mumbai (Bombay), Kanga now lives in London where he works as a writer and actor. As a child he was diagnosed with a rare bone disease. There were many things I could not do as a boy - the most absurd of these was not being able to break a biscuit. There was something about the sound, the snap that always reminded me of those moments when I would crack a rib or break a hip, which happened almost as often as the festivals that sprinkled the Indian calendar. We were the Parsis of Bombay which meant we could celebrate Eid and Diwali and Christmas with as much pleasure as our own Navroz (New Year) we had brought with us from Persia so many centuries ago. And I really did suffer frequent fractures. I was born with brittle bones, could never walk or go to school with sturdy little boys who might break my tiny body with a friendly slap on the back. I stopped growing at about four feet. I first knew that ordinary friendship was not what I had in mind when I saw an attractive man and something inside me flew with a freedom and delight that I had never known. Homosexuality was the different part of me that gave me pleasure, allowed me to hug my body - if rather gingerly - rather than fear it, fear the pain it brought me, an unwelcome present I could not refuse. For many years I could only see and smile at and touch my lover in an imagination that had brought him alive as God was supposed to have made Adam. After all, this was Bombay in the early 1980s. In all the time I was growing up I had never heard anybody talk about homosexuality. I certainly knew no gay men, except in the sublime stories I found and read - those by James Baldwin, E M Forster and Iris Murdoch. Perhaps in some strange sense I was fortunate - my idea of gay love slept in relationships rather than in frenetic and furtive encounters in the dark. It was not until I was in my twenties and I had written a novel that was being published in London where I came to live that I met someone who could amuse and annoy me and drive me fast and furious around the hairpin bends of passion. Coming out was easy for me as I had been stared at all my life - now I turned heads for happier reasons. My mother, I think, was

g_b Jerusalem Gay Pride Sa'ar Netanel
Gay Pride marches have been happening across the globe this last couple of weeks. They've ranged from the huge (Brazil) to the small, but passionate (Romania), and lets not forget our own Pride March in Kolkata which, as Ranjan has told us, went off very well. (GB was proud to have contributed to this by having a fund raising party). Here are some pix from around the world, including one from Kolkata: http://towleroad.typepad.com/towleroad/2005/06/and_to_think_th.html#mo re Of all these, Jerusalem's Gay Pride march was probably the most dramatic. It happened in a city dominated by the orthodox of three religions, who that are all overly homophobic (I mean the orthodox, I refuse to believe the religions are necessarily homophobic), and in the face of active opposition from the city's mayor. It also happened against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (and its worth noting that the march was open to both Israelis and Palestinians). And perhaps it was not surprising then that it was the one march that did face real violence, when an orthodox Jewish man (haredi) attacked three marchers with a knife. I haven't been able to find out what happened after that, but here's the basic news and the earlier story about how the march was allowed over the mayor's objections - and how, even better, he was literally made to pay for trying to stop it. I've also attached a profile from The Jerusalem Post of Sa'ar Netanel the openly gay Jerusalem city councilman whose dedication was instrumental in letting the march happen. What I found impressive was not just reading about his courage and openness - but how he also managed to get along with his Orthodox opponents on a regular basis, winning their respect if not their support for the march. Its a great example of how to achieve change in the real world, with pragmatism but no loss of your principles. It's also impressive to see the support that the Israeli gay movement gets from the government and the judiciary. Its good to see how despite the pressures of fundamentalists from outside and from within, Israel remains the one beacon of hope for the queer movement in the Middle East, Vikram Haredi stabs three at Gay Parade By SHEERA CLAIRE FRENKEL What started off as a lively parade of nearly 5,000 Gay Pride activists quickly turned violent Thursday as three young marchers were stabbed by ultra-religious protestors of the parade. Witnesses said they saw a young, ultra-Orthodox youth dart into the crowd of marchers and stab a young man and woman as they neared the corner of Ben Yehuda Street and Hahistradrut Street. The young woman was injured on her left forearm, while the young man received wounds to his right wrist and a deeper injury to his left upper torso. When nearby marchers saw what had happened they tried to detain the youth, who lightly injured a third ale before running into a group of ultra- Orthodox men standing on the sidewalk. The three victims were taken to Bikur Holim Hospital in the city center and were listed in stable condition by paramedics on the scene. Police said they had detained one young man in connection to the stabbing and were searching for others who may have been involved. Police also arrested 13 religious Jews who attempted to block the parade's path as it turned onto King George Street. In light of the violence we have seen here today, it goes to show how much farther we have to go to turn Israel into a liberal and tolerant state, said MK Roman Bronfman. The parade started on Ben Yehuda Street at 6:30 p.m. with a stream of colorful balloons and music. For the marchers in the parade, the dress code was anything rainbow. But mixed in with the rainbow streamers were other ribbons marking views both for and against the disengagement. The rainbow brings everyone together, people both for and against disengagement! said Sarah Choler, who arrived for the parade from Haifa. She pointed to several people nearby, some of whom had orange ribbons, the colors of the anti-disengagement campaign, and others with the blue ribbons that stand for pro-disengagement. The whole point of this is that we can all, all colors, be united under the rainbow. That is why the theme here is love without borders. But for the nearly 1,000 protestors who lined the streets of the march, love was clearly not in the air. Several protestors threw bottles of urine and bags of feces into the crowd, while others yelled shame at the passing marchers. A large cluster of ultra- Orthodox counter protestors gathered in front of the Great Synagogue bearing signs which read: People with AIDS belong in hospitals and Homosexuality is a sickness. I believe these are sick people, said Shifra Hoffman, who came to protest the march. As sick people I think they should be treated, although I definitely don't agree to engaging in violence against them. It's hard to be gay, but this event is

g_b Gay men lead rush for makeovers, surgeons say
Gay men lead rush for makeovers, surgeons say By Clay Lucas July 3, 2005 Australian men are going under the knife in greater numbers, with doctors saying the gay community is driving a surge in plastic surgery. The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons says gay Australian men are following their US counterparts and leading the charge for cosmetic surgery, although gay groups dispute this. Twenty years ago, it was very uncommon for men outside the entertainment industry having cosmetic surgery. Now we see 10 to 15 per cent men, Dr Howard Webster, a Melbourne plastic surgeon and Victorian spokesman for the society, said. Much of that growth had come from the gay community, the society said. The gay community has a much higher uptake of cosmetic surgery as part of their lives than middle-class, white-collar suburbia, Dr Webster said. They are the biggest male group getting cosmetic surgery. But they're still far less than women. Most common procedures for men were liposuction and upper and lower eyelid surgery, Dr Webster said. Liposuction could cost $2000 to $3000, he said, although this excluded hospital and anaesthetic costs. Eyelid work could cost from $1500 to $5000. The society says more people are having cosmetic surgery in Australia, although it could not supply the figures. There is an increasing demand for plastic surgery here, especially with the awareness in the community up after the makeover shows, Dr Webster said. There is no national system for collecting data on cosmetic surgery in Australia. The most recent reliable numbers come from a 1999 NSW Government inquiry that said 50,000 Australians had cosmetic surgery each year. There was a 16 per cent jump in the number of men having plastic surgery in the US between 2000 and last year, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, with 1.2 million operations on on US men last year. Gay groups disputed the claim it was the gay community fuelling the increase in cosmetic surgery. It is straight men who are doing it - not gay men, Troy Gurr, editor of the newspaper Melbourne Community Voice, said. There is so much more pressure now on straight men to look good, he said. I know an awful lot of gay men who use botox, but they will draw the line at actual surgery. But I'm not sure straight men draw that line. g_b WORK WORK WORK.....
WORKWORKWORK A long time ago, there was an Emperorwho told his horsemanthat if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered. Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horseto go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible. Came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhaustedand wasdying. Then he asked himself, Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dyingand I only need a very small area to burymyself. The above story is similar with the journey of our Life. We push very hard everyday to make moremoney, to gain power andrecognition. We neglect our health, time with our familyand to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love. One day when we look back , we will realize that we don't really need that much, but then we cannot turn back timefor what we have missed. Life is not about making money, acquiring power or recognition. Life is definitely not about work!Work is only necessary to keep us living so as to enjoy the beautyand pleasures of life. Life is a balance of Work and Play, Family and Personal time. You have to decide how you want to balance your Life. Define your priorities, realize what you are able to compromise but always let some of your decisions be based on your instincts.Happinessis the meaning and the purpose of Life, the whole aim of human existence. So, take it easy, do what you want to do and appreciate nature. Life is fragile, Life is short. Do not take Life for granted. Live a balanced lifestyle and enjoy Life! Watch your thoughts; they becomewords. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. Group Site: http://www.gaybombay.info == This message was posted to the gay_bombay Yahoo! Group.
