done any profiling on this yet? Is there a way to benchmark it? A
regression test would also be nice to have for this purpose.

to respond earlier, but got a bounce.
See

It's marked as fixed in CVS.

are on it, ask them why there are checks for a fortran compiler. I
don't think we ask for any of those.
As Yosh has already replied, this is a problem in libtool. I thought a
fix had been applied to the 1.5 branch, but I can't seem to find it so
it must be in the 2.0 branch only.

like to
be able to just do
rpmbuild -v -ta gimp-2.0pre4.tar.gz
and have rpmbuild find the gimp.spec and build, without ever needing to
manually extract it.

has talked about performance improvements for non-Render platforms,
and I'm certainly hoping they become a reality in the next year.

*might* cause some regressions.
I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from making the change, I'm just trying
to give whoever does it a heads up that they may want to see if they can
detect if there are any fixes that should be forward-ported into the new
SIOD gimp swallows.

(are?) pushing as the language for scripting applications.
I don't recall ever seeing why that was rejected, but talk of replacing
SIOD with Guile just kind of died.
Does anyone know any good reasons why Guile would be an inappropriate
choice for replacing SIOD?

fontconfig, the problem is freetype.
FT_Get_BDF_Property is defined in recent FreeType -- looks like
you need to upgrade that first.

would guess the problem is either with your gettext installation or your
libiconv installation. Either gettext's `libintl.la' shouldn't be
specifying `-lc', or both `libintl.la' and `libiconv.la' should be.
