Hi list,
I'm interested in noise reduction using GIMP. A little (skippable)
background first.
I recently bought a digital camera, a very nice Canon IXUS 40. One big
plus over traditional chemical photography is that you can change
sensitivity for poor light conditions. However, this increases
Thanks a lot to everyone for your suggestions, I will let you know how
it goes when I have time to try them out. I'm still open to
theoretical approaches you find interesting.
The place for 3rd party gimp plugins and scripts is registry.gimp.org,
it includes a few noise removal gems.
Thanks! I
Hi Pasi,
I think that it should be ran in non-adaptive and non-recursive mode
with white/black points se to maximum. But when it's ran with those
settings it doesn't produce what I expect.
Here's an image:

Why do you keep using GIMP? Why don't you help Boudewijn with tracking
down bugs in Krita 1.5 beta2?
Great way to attract collaborators. I guess many people love the GIMP,
but they don't have the attitude to cooperate in its development; I
could not be this harsh even if I tried.
Alex.
Both questions are valid.
They are not valid. If someone said she was a KDE developer on a
Mozilla list, would you think it right to ask why is she using Firefox
instead of helping out with Konqueror?
How would you phrase them to be less harsh?
Not making them. It is one thing to be curt and

If he wants to convert Firefox into Konqueror, I would ask this, yes.
But he doesn't! He said that the GIMP could

For usability's sake it's not good to introduce modes that make same
application look and behave different.
I completely agree with this. Probably docking palettes or something
like this would be all that is needed to
Hi Roland,
I saw your example but i continue to say that the GIMP can be
uncomfortable to use.
In your example you don't have all the funcfionnality offer by the program

I saw your concept, and it looks quite nice.
just tell the list (and me) how one gets on the GNOME contact list for
these booth things and all of the things that have been suggested will at
least seem like they have been accomplished.
The list doesn't care about those issues. Or rather, nobody seems to
care but you.

This odd way of thinking: getting things done.
[worthless-chatter-snip]
i cannot give any kind of
logical reason for it and probably you should do the right thing and
trash this suggestion of mine.
