About Image: Video - Frames Modify, the entry Function
  - Apply filter
on layer(s) simply does not work, the list of filters does
  not pop up.
Maybe that happened for another reason and is not a bug:
that GAP plugin does not work on layers of same imagine but only on frames

Frames for GAP are a series of imagines (of one or more layers ) named with
a progressive number of six digits(i.e First frame may be image_01)..all
frames need to be in the same folder.

Then the Frame modify should be called from the FIRST frame
 (ie whatever_01 ..not from whatever 00040 )

then chosen filter is applied to the chosen layers of the frames (i.e to all
BG layers, all the top layers)

Yes of course, I had an image called IMG_0001.xcf, I duplicated the
frame 10 times, and then I called the tool. Moreover, this tool works on
layers of a multi-frame image. Clearly there is a bug in version 2.6.2
that did not occur in version 2.4.

[Gimp-user] GAP for version 2.6.2

2008-12-12 Thread Alchemie foto\grafiche
Davids Gowens wrote
It's perfectly capable of working with GIMP 2.6 -- I

i didn't check yet on linux but i noticed several problems running GAP with
gimp 2.6

I'm hosting the last version of GAP available for windows the 2.4, but binary
was compiled for gimp 2.4, maybe should be recompiled again.

the most evidents problem i noticed are with Filter all layers
and Frame Modify-apply filter using the Apply variyng option

First quite a lot of warning are then displayed about missed plugin-iter files,
then with my surprise (should be impossible if the iterator procedures were
missed as reported from warnings)many filters works, other not as they should,
even more strange some sometimes work, sometimes not

To puntualize i'm talking about filter included in gimp (as Gaussian blur)
and the errors i get is not that i will expect:
I will expect in case of error only the first and last frame be correctly
edited and not the ones in between.

Instead a random numbers of frames or layer , in random positions on the
layerstack are correctly edited

in few cases(with gaussian blur) some frames are blurred but the others are
screwed up by a weird kind of pixelations on the hightlight.

Other problem, less serious but disturbing is with split imagine into
frames...after is displayed not the first but the last frame

we had some discussion on Gimptalk since others reported similar problems,
i.e http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/filter-all-layers-not-working--p258098.html i
did not report to bugzilla yet, because the windows version of gap2.4 is not a
official build so i'm not sure is supported

I hope you may help, i may ask help to recompile GAP, but first i want be sure
that this ,( and maybe other problems i didn't check, for my workflow Frame
Modify is fundamental, if that do not work, i have few reason to use the other
gap plugins.

so i will like to know if in linux frame modify-appy filters-variyng, split
imagine in frames and the encoder work without bugs with gimp 2.6

Once i know for sure that are problems only of the windows version, i can
search help to recompile gap

I fear not

Actually i'm hosting the Windows installer of gap 2.4 BUT I'm not sure that is
fully functional with Gimp-2.6, on the contrary i found, and i had reports of
some serious bugs(only if used with gimp 2.6)

I didn't report yet to bugzilla only because the Windows installer of GAP 2.4
is not official so i'm not sure is supported, but others should have
anyway already reported to bugzilla some problems

Most evident bugs i found are with Filter all layers-apply variyng and with
Frame Modify_Apply filter on Frames_apply variyng

First a lot of warning pop out about missed iter procedures, then strange
things may happens...
Note that i refer here only to use of gimp build in filters that on gimp 2.4
were all correctly animated...and the errors are not that i will expect

I will expect in case of errors only first and last frames be edited, or none,
while the filter is applied often to random numbers of frames in
random positions in the layerstack , and not to all frames

not always but sometimes the other frames are screwed up (i.e with gaussian
blur i had 40% frames blurred but the other instead then blurred were heavily
pixelated on the hightlights)

Even more puzzling for me some filters i.e gaussian blur sometimes works as
should, sometimes not and that on similar groups of frames

more detail here
http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/filter-all-layers-not-working--p258098.html

Another but much less relevant problem is with split imagine into frames, with
gimp 2.6 to be displayed is not the first but the last frame

May be other problems, since Apply filter on frames is essential to my workflow
i didn't check further

PS my pc is a dual core, with xp fully updated and 2gb ram
i had no problems with a much less performing notebook but with gimp 2.6

---

About solutions first i will like to be sure that Filter all layer-variyng and
Frame modify-apply filter-variyng work both correctly on linux, and
same for split imagine in frames

If i may be certain that is a problem only of the windows version i may search
help to recompile against gimp 2.6..

but first...someone may check on linux, please?
better on big imagines with many frames where this problem show up more often.

For me, all frames are fully blurred but I am only prompted twice for
radius values.
I don't know whether this is correct or not, since I haven't used
'apply varying' at all before.

For 'filter all layers', when I use 'dog' filter, most of my layers
become empty.

But, I have to mention -- this function never worked correctly for me
at all. It was always complaining and behaving weirdly, whether in
gimp 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 or 2.6.
So I think nothing has actually changed.

Split image into frames gives me a lot of black frames with apparently
no content. I suspect this is because it doesn't bother to set the
colormap for each frame, and my source image is indexed. If I convert
to RGB
first, this doesn't happen.
It does display the last frame rather than the first.

Also, it doesn't bother to copy the icc-profile parasite, so the
resulting images are displayed with wrong colors. (this probably
doesn't effect you)

About solutions first i will like to be sure that Filter all layer-variyng

I just tested Image: Filters - Filter all layers (varying) on a Debian
Sid installation with GIMP 2.6.2 and the same version of GAP I used
without problem for GIMP 2.4. Indeed I get a huge lot of error messages
similat to this one:

GIMP: Calling error for procedure 'gimp-procedural-db-proc-info':
Procedure 'plug-in-gauss-iir-Iterator' not found

However, testing this with the Gaussian blur filter, I got what I
expected, i.e. an animation with a varying blur.

About Image: Video - Frames Modify, the entry Function - Apply filter
on layer(s) simply does not work, the list of filters does not pop up.

[Gimp-user] GAP for version 2.6.2

2008-12-10 Thread M. Weborg
I just had GIMP 2.6.2 installed, My husband says he installed GAP as well,
however I can't seem to find the script-fu section to use it. Does Animation
even exist for 2.6.2...If so what do I look for. There seem to be many
differences in this version. I previously had 2.0 and my GAP worked just fine.
Can anyone help me out here?

Script-fu has very little to do with GAP. Only two functions are
implemented in Script-fu.;
When I look at their source code, I see 'Duplicate continue' is in the
'Video' menu,
and 'Selection to animimage' is in the 'Script-fu/Animators' menu
(which is remapped to Filters in 2.6).

The majority of GAP's functionality is, and has always been, found in
the Video menu.
It's perfectly capable of working with GIMP 2.6 -- I have installed it
here, with no need for anything unusual.
If you can verify that you don't have a working GIMP-GAP, then you
probably have a version of GIMP-GAP that's not compiled against GIMP
2.6. In that case you are probably a Windows user, and should see
http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/gimp-plugins,-filters,-and-scripts-f9.html-sid=96a7012b13d58fe71be8068a96d0ea46

However, chances are nothing is wrong at all and your GIMP-GAP is
fully functional.
