IANAL, but... Since GIMP is released under GPL, would it not be better to point to existing info and FAQs (e.g. http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html) rather than reinventing it? Whatever is done, surely it needs to be carefully checked (possibly with legal advice) to ensure it's consistent
