Of course Linen is not as durable in an extant situation as is wool.

I know of no examples of linen outerwear from the later Middle Ages.
However, in an essay published in Cloth and Clothing in Medieval Europe
Inga Hagg published the results of a stratographic analysis
, or order their catalog WITH the
fabric swatches. I have found some good deals on Ebay as well, including
several yards of a biege that would work well for Frobisher.

I hated the movies as well, and felt as if I was alone in that. I hated the
costumes and the wigs, and I hated the made up story. Even more so in the
fact that so many people dont get that movies about real people do nothave
to be true! People do take them as gospel.

Hello All,
I was hesitating to answer this question, as I have no documentation to
prove the point. What I can say is that I do work in the !8th Century, and
at work I was taught the prop[er procedure is to kiss the air, or blow
across the hand, not to make any actual contact. I suspect
recognize me out of
costume because I dress well in period, but shabbily out! I actually have
just started spending some money to amend that, but it is money that I have
been forced to spend out of embarrassment.
I wonder how common this is on this list?
