 all

unconfirmed and could have been added by some angry player which

 is

 why

 they

 are

 not

It is uncofirmed if this could be an issue with Valve's master

 server

 itself

but I have my doubts a bug would occur there.

This is a screenshot just a few seconds ago. I have selected US

Yep, unfortunately it will do that on most of the consumer hardware. The
best solution is to set Steam's setting for your connection lower, which
won't flood the connection quite so much, and allow you to get a full
refresh, or set your modem to bridge mode and get a good router to handle
the connection to your ISP.

[hlds] West Coast TF2 Servers Being Maliciously Delisted

2010-02-04 Thread DontWannaName!
It seems that someone, not valve, is delisting most of the west coast making
it so our servers do not show in any list except in favorites. This is
severely hurting our population and forcing users to find servers elsewhere.
Whoever is doing this doesnt want people joining servers on the west coast.
For whatever real reason they are doing it, in the end Valve needs to fix
this. This has been going on for at least a month now and by posting this I
hope to reach more affected server owns.

Might wanna try using that in the meantime.

DontWannaName,

Do you run any kind of shenanigans on your server? I think it's been about a
month since valve implemented blacklisting (in fact, almost a month to the
day)

http://store.steampowered.com/news/3308/

Your servers are showing up on some blacklists, including:

http://tf2stats.net/fake_players/

and

http://tf2app.com/blacklist/servers.php (As Top Notch Clan)

Are you sure your decline in popularity isn't because of people utilizing
these blacklists?

Perhaps it would be wise to remove the offending fake player plug-ins and
contact the managers of the blacklists for removal, and leave the offending
plug-ins off the server.

My Server TF2 Romania Vanilla is listed as fake slots. We never used fake
slots so i don't trust this list.

 DontWannaName,

Do you run any kind of shenanigans on your server? I think it's been about
 a
month since valve implemented blacklisting (in fact, almost a month to the
 day)

 http://store.steampowered.com/news/3308/

Your servers are showing up on some blacklists, including:

 http://tf2stats.net/fake_players/

 and

 http://tf2app.com/blacklist/servers.php (As Top Notch Clan)

Are you sure your decline in popularity isn't because of people utilizing
 these blacklists?

Perhaps it would be wise to remove the offending fake player plug-ins and
contact the managers of the blacklists for removal, and leave the offending
 plug-ins off the server.

That's funny. My clan's TF2 server, which we just took down, is showing up
on the first blacklist you have there. All we had running was the Valve
created bots for the maps that they can play on and we some how got on that
list.. oh well, took the server down anyway because there wasn't enough
interest in my clan.

I don't trust those lists, because I've noticed that our servers have
reported clients in-game, when in fact, they have not been in game. It's all
part of a refresh problem I'm going to guess. I once tested the problem by
kicking one of our guys who had been idleing in spectate. I check the list
and it STILL showed him in game after I refreshed many times. That I am not
happy about because I would not wish to lie to prospective players D:

So, It's possible servers are being placed on that list simply due to a
valve bug instead of the true plugin.

We seem to be doing fine. We're Seattle based and still show up on all
server lists. Thing is, we're showing up on this amateur blacklist:

http://tf2stats.net/fake_players/

I talked with some other server operators on that list, that like us,
don't use fake clients. It seems that list is picking up on the use of
bots. We loaded some bots on our server for a few nights after they were
released; usually bots vs humans. Good fun, but we grew bored of them
and went back to our almost vanilla server.

This list however seems to be more accurate:

http://tf2app.com/blacklist/servers.php

In the end players shouldn't rely on anything but themselves through
trial error and Valve to filter out bad servers. The top notch clan
cleary has some suspect things going on, so it's not surprising they're
having issues.

Maybe West Coast has high tendency of loading fake player.
I think you should unload it and ask them (whoever is responsible for the
blacklist) to take your servers off the list.
Although I think it would be fair only if the servers stayed on blacklist
forever and had to change their IPs.
Oh wait.. It's still not fair! I'm sorry if you never used fake player on
your servers though. That would suck. :(

And I'm getting between 186 and 191 servers all the time... Are you sure you
