We recently moved to z14 and I exported the OSA-ICC existing configuration via FTP to mainframe USS as below. Exporting OSA-ICC configuration file using OSA Advanced Facilities. To export the OSA-ICC configuration file, follow these steps: 1. Log on to the HMC, select the CPC you want to operate, and open the OSA Advanced Facility. 2. Select the OSC CHPID to export the OSA-ICC configuration file. Next, select Card specific advanced facilities. Select Manual configuration options and click OK 3. The Manual Configuration Options window opens as below . Select Export source file and click OK. 4. The task requests that hostname/username and mainframe Password is entered with Unix file system to get the configuration in the USS 6. The HMC displays the ACT2042 window (. Click OK. 7. Re: Sysplex between two hardware
We took an approach where for each plex we had CF defined on two cec's as that make sense : 1. Systems defined in the plex are defined on both CEC ...i.e. Say we have plex of 4 systems (SYS1,SYS2,SYS3,SYS4), each with 2 systems on one CEC1(SYS1 & SYS2 Active(Normal running) the rest 2 in Inactive state on CEC1 (SYS3 & SYS4) , similar definition goes other way which is CEC2(SYS3 & SYS4 Active(normal running) & rest 2 in inactive state on CEC2(SYS1 & SYS2) This provide resiliency in terms of whole CEC Going down ...Now both have CF Definition for the Plex on both CEC which provide resiliency for the CF as well with Structures defined in duplex mode ...This we have been running for years and provide us various benefits example say we are applying or doing microcode upgrade or for various other reason require structures to move around ...those all features can be exploited when we have structures defined in the duplex mode with hardware split over two separate physical box So simple rule and policy and commonsense work here -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN

Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: DAF (CBT 094) - Unknown Datatype x01BB
So initial question had two parts : 1. DAF Unknown X01BB data - - As other lister's pointed indeed there was 80/RACF types and initially when I had compiled/linkedited the CBT DAF had it NO ...anyway i have no intention to process those records type hence will ignore them... Just FYI - I have compiled the latest DAF from CBT with DFSMS Subtype 7 records to NO and it compiled nicely Thanks to all who responded. 2. 2nd question was regarding knowing about the members which were accessed in the pds proclib ...and as stated there's no nice way of knowing it ...SMF Type 14/15 doesn't report the dataset even correctly i had a PMR opened with IBM and was referred for RFE as it doesn't report dataset as being in the concatenation and moreover TYPE30 will report JES as a Jobname for the proclib's so here's something which i did (again not 100% accurate but let the wheel rolling)... Processed SMF Type30_4 and extracted JOB/JESNR/SMFTIME (splitted to DATE/HOUR/MINUTE/RACFUSER ) and had them merged by DATE/HOUR/MINUTE/RACFUSER with the PDSMAN User records(which in my shop we are cutting to 179)...in 95% cases it reported ok but again as there's no absolutely key to merge there's some vague records as well ... anyway after merging pdsman and type30_4 i had following records extractedwill see how it goes when i present it to other business partnersB jobname, dsname, member, action(what purpose like browse/expand),date,hour,jesnr -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN

The program can be retrieved from the FTP site: testcase.boulder.ibm.com It is in the directory: fromibm/mvs With the name: slotcnt.install The program should be retrieved in BINary mode, it is NOT tersed, and it contains fixed-length, 80-byte records. HSM Log extract
Good day(!2013), While working on HSM issues generally we refer HSM log and in our shop it's pretty difficult sometime as we got 14way plex and sometime each of them in a day write millions of record in hsm log which make it tuff(though we balanced workload on each to let one or two handle particular hsm request/function) However still difficult :-(..Now what I thought to code a rexx or something else(if somebody got other idea) which can take inputs and process either the offloaded HSM Logs(flat files) or from running STC's in sdsf(obviously would have to give options to choose any of these two) and then on basis of time or string it filter out the HSM Log in a plex and gives me desired outputs.. ARCPRLOG/ARCPEDIT are basic utilities which take inputs of flat files and process them on each task of HSM(i.e recall, recycle etc) however what my main focus is to cut the records on basis of user options and get what you want instead get everything.. So before I start evaluating this thought ..Anybody got idea's so that i avoid reinventing the wheel? Re: DFSMShsm Abend S878
We are having a very busy system as well (for example 15 volume migration tasks, 13 recycle tasks, and 10 recall tasks running) hence couple of things being discussed are : Time to run HSM's major functions(recycle/migration etc) to ensure you have them spread out as much as possible. consider using the Mutiple Address Space HSM (MASH) function. Using MASH, you can run multiple instances of HSM on an LPAR and assign some of the workload to the additional HSM(s). Use DSS cross-memory mode for HSM procsessing. This will move much of the storage requirements of DSS to cross-memory address spaces and get them out of the HSM user region. (FYI Above DSS Cross memory is a new function drived from zOS1.9 onward more to address 878- 10 issue and going to run new address space for most of the HSM function except Recall and indeed need a kind of whole new setup and to address/implement it a complete new project needed.) Region size increase (check with IEFUTL exit) and also any above the line storage definition in STC Proc of dfhsm. FYI - There's some orphaned tape MVT allocations. These are control blocks that were allocated by HSM for tape processing but do not get freed when the task finished with the tape and being addressed with APAR OA40365. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
