I too think that this is species of *Triumfetta * of Malvaceae family.
Characters are not very clear from the pictures to reach species.

Dear Raghu ji,

DSC_6339, DSC_6337 and DSC_6338 are not of* *Tolypanthus lagenifer.
*Tolypanthus
lagenifer* is a parasitic plant that grows on other plants.

Here, I assume that you got *Tolypanthus lagenifer* from the plant seen in
the aforementioned pictures.

This would be a species of *Litsea *of Lauraceae family.

*Monsoon 2011 - Making a magical flora discovery in rainy Coorg*
Rainy season is the best time to visit Coorg, blanketing the place as it
does in shades of green, be it lush forests, mountain tops and every other
spot. Bhagmandala, the place where the three rivers, the Kaveri Kannike
and Sujyothi merge is no exception and one fine day at the height of the
monsoon season, we walked the woody paths in Bhagmandala. The drizzle had
set in by afternoon, continuing into the evening when suddenly it took on
the shape of a downpour. We retreated to the shelter of the nearby trees and
what do we find here but that hidden in the dark and dense vegetation were
these spectacular young red flowers. We had hit a jackpot! ( 1. Tolypanthus
lagenifer - [Indian Tolypanthus] from the *Family* *Loranthaceae, 2. *Cup
and Saucer plant [Breynia retusa] -already posted, 3. Unidentified red
 flower (to be posted))
growing in a row vertically and on the woody stem (which seemed painted)
of a shrub. The bright red leaves here and there, the bell shape and
tubular structures, the stamens and the anthers of the flower were indeed a
 feast for our eyes.
 ** **
 *Cure for the seven-day itch!*
Along came a group of around six buffalos waddling their way home in the
rain, and soon I noticed that the hooves of each buffalo was bleeding red.
Looked like leech bites. Earlier in the day during an uphill walk along the
narrow forest path, I had noticed a fat leech on my leg blood sucking on an
already bleeding wound for an easy meal. Probably the poor buffalos faced
the same multiple bites on the same wound. Cattle over here, it is believed
are able to remove/heal wounds by licking it with their tongues. But they
are helpless when leeches take guard between their hooves. Dogs are known to
remove leaches by killing them with their teeth.
By then, the rains had washed away the dettol on our legs – which served as
protection from leeches and we remembered to smear it again before we moved
on. Every time we crossed the numerous river streams and nullahs, the
power of the dettol seemed to diminish and the leeches would again climb up
our legs forcing us to reapply dettol. On that particular day, my mate and I
had almost finished half a bottle of dettol.
I noticed leeches trying to climb up our legs and moving away after
smelling dettol - a very effective remedy! Seven to eight leech bites that
day were enough to prolong bleeding (Thanks to anti-clotting enzyme
–Hirudin) for the rest of the day and itching sensation for next four to
 seven days.
9There appears to be two kinds of leech here – the smaller one after
blotting becomes 1cm in length and the larger one upto 3-4cms.)

I have seen people using varied solutions to prevent/heel leech bites in
 different areas –
We were given Shikakai solution, Uppage- Gamboge tree fruit paste (Garcinia
 gummi-gutta
) and Quick lime at Gamayana gudda hill, Uttara Kannada by the Siddi
tribals (African aborigins). In Kemmanagundi, Chikmagalur dist, people
suggest tobacco leaves and match stick flame. At Muthodi the forest guards
there use certain herbs growing along the forest path, Salt and quick lime,
We were given Paper in Unchalli forest to stop bleeding. Coffee powder in
Kukke, Mud paste from the same habitat in Bhagamandala, Coorg…. In Arunachal
we used leech guard, Gum boot in Uttara Kannada Dettol in Coorg.

When it comes to protecting yourselves from the leeches, you can take your
 pick!

Am sure Ajinkya had spelled the name inadvertently.

If simple, it could be *T. castanifolia* (syn. *T. gaudichaudii*) ... native
of equatorial South America ... commonly known as chestnutleaf trumpetbush

Thanks a lot for appreciating mam.
I went on a walk and reached this place and found some Curculigo like
leaves on the slopes. I was thinking, it has to be orchid and I took
some pic, didnt want to dig out, but just checked by inserted my
fingers in soil. And I was so foolish, the flowers were blooming just
next to it at 1 distance. I laughed at myself :P.

Monsoon 2011 - Making a magical flora discovery in rainy Coorg
Rainy season is the best time to visit Coorg, blanketing the place as it does
in shades of green, be it lush forests, mountain tops and every other
spot. Bhagmandala, the place where the three rivers, the Kaveri Kannike and
Sujyothi merge is no exception and one fine day at the height of the monsoon
season, we walked the woody paths in Bhagmandala. The drizzle had set in by
afternoon, continuing into the evening when suddenly it took on the shape of a
downpour. We retreated to the shelter of the nearby trees and what do we find
here but that hidden in the dark and dense vegetation were these spectacular
young red flowers. We had hit a jackpot! ( 1. Tolypanthus lagenifer - [Indian
Tolypanthus] from the Family Loranthaceae, 2.  Cup and Saucer plant [Breynia
retusa] -already posted, 3. Unidentified red flower (to be posted))
growing in a row vertically and on the woody stem (which seemed painted) of a
shrub.  The bright red leaves here and there, the bell shape and tubular
structures, the stamens and the anthers of the flower were indeed a feast for
our eyes.

Cure for the seven-day itch!
Along came a group of around six buffalos waddling their way home in the rain,
and soon I noticed that the hooves of each buffalo was bleeding red.  Looked
like leech bites. Earlier in the day during an uphill walk along the narrow
forest path, I had noticed a fat leech on my leg blood sucking on an already
bleeding wound for an easy meal. Probably the poor buffalos faced the same
multiple bites on the same wound. Cattle over here, it is believed are able to
remove/heal wounds by licking it with their tongues. But they are helpless when
leeches take guard between their hooves. Dogs are known to remove leaches by
killing them with their teeth.
By then, the rains had washed away the dettol on our legs – which served as
protection from leeches and we remembered to smear it again before we moved
on.  Every time we crossed the numerous river streams and nullahs, the power of
the dettol seemed to diminish and the leeches would again climb up our legs
forcing us to reapply dettol. On that particular day, my mate and I had almost
finished half a bottle of dettol.
I noticed leeches trying to climb up our legs and moving away after smelling
dettol - a very effective remedy! Seven to eight leech bites that day were
enough to prolong bleeding (Thanks to anti-clotting enzyme –Hirudin) for the
rest of the day and itching sensation for next four to seven days.
9There appears to be two kinds of leech here – the smaller one after blotting
becomes 1cm in length and the larger one  upto 3-4cms.)

I have seen people using varied solutions to prevent/heel leech bites in
different areas –
We were given Shikakai solution,  Uppage- Gamboge tree fruit paste ( Garcinia
gummi-gutta) and Quick lime  at Gamayana gudda hill, Uttara Kannada by the
Siddi tribals (African aborigins). In Kemmanagundi, Chikmagalur dist,  people
suggest tobacco leaves and match stick flame. At Muthodi the forest guards
there use certain herbs growing along the forest path, Salt and quick lime,  We
were given Paper in Unchalli forest to stop bleeding. Coffee powder in Kukke,
Mud paste from the same habitat in Bhagamandala, Coorg…. In Arunachal we used
leech guard, Gum boot in Uttara Kannada Dettol in Coorg.

When it comes to protecting yourselves from the leeches, you can take your
pick!

Regards

Raghu

Dear Ushadi Ji,

I just found out that I am getting only the information of my downloading
including time and date, not the exif data.

Therefore, please excuse me that I haven't given the time of capturing the
picture but the time of my downloading from the properties of the software that
I am using.

I think only the person who uploads the picture can give the information
regarding the time and date of picture.
All these confusions would be solved if members provide such information along
with each upload.

But I have seen the flower of this particular species gets curled/wilt in the
afternoon by around 15hr (or even before) when I was doing my MSc in Madurai,
Tamil Nadu. Tribulus terrestris was plenty in our campus and in fact this was
the species for our practicals for Zygophyllaceae family. Our
Taxonomy professor use to say that you must collect the plant with flower in

Actually it is more close to Asparagaceae according to recent
findings. I hope you know that Liliaceae is now in another group
Liliales and Amaryllidaceae in Asparagales.
Its complicated but in simple words, Orchidaceae is more close to
Asparagaceae and Amaryllidaceae and Zingiberaceae is more close to
Commelinaceae. and both are in two different groups (scientifically
speaking Orders).

Actually it is more close to
 Asparagaceae according to recent
findings. I hope you know that Liliaceae is now in another
 group
 Liliales and Amaryllidaceae in Asparagales.
Its complicated but in simple words, Orchidaceae is more
 close to
Asparagaceae and Amaryllidaceae and Zingiberaceae is more
 close to
Commelinaceae. and both are in two different groups
 (scientifically
 speaking Orders).

Yes Curcuma does look like a bit of

 Dear Friends,
Elaeocarpus serratus is known as Jalpai in Bangla. The
drupes of the tree are edible. These are pickled or eaten in curries. In our
childhood we knew this fruit to be olive ( even now I find this misconception
prevails in Bengal ).In fact the tree is a cousin of Elaeocarpus shaericus (

Yes it is called as Khulkhula in Marathi? Then not surname but that aa
pronunciation will be correct. Because it means the people who praise God!!!
They are the stutipathak of God, Rajas etc. So they will be making some ringing
noise isn't it of bell or ghungaru!
Thanks for making me think.

 Many thanks Madhuri ji.

But what does भट in भट घागरी mean ? any idea ?

Other than घागरी being plural of घागर meaning a vessel or pot (made of
copper, brass, or earth) to hold water, ... the other meanings of घागरी are:
a bell or jingling ball (as of a child's girdle, or as worn on the toes by
dancing girls c.); the fruit of a plant commonly known as घागरा.

  Thank you Anupamji
On the net I found the following interesting info about this plant

  Rhaphidophora tetrasperma Hook. f.

  Incorrectly as Amydrium tetrasperma

Common names: Amydrium 'Ginnie', Philodendron Ginny, Mini monstera,

Miniature monstera, Philodendron imbe Ginny, Epipremnum Ginny

  Mini split-leaf Philodendron

This species is not a Philodendron, Monstera, Epipremnum nor Amydrium
  species

A member of the aroid tribe Monstereae, Rhaphidophora tetrasperma is a
native of Thailand and Malaysia that was identified to science in 1893.
  Based
on the information available,  Rhaphidophora tetrasperma is somewhat more
closely related to the genus Monstera than Philodendron as some discussions
on the internet attempt to imply.  However, neither genus is closely
related.  Aroid expert Julius Boos explains, The genus Monstera and all
its relatives produce blooms with a bisexual spadix ,male and female flowers
throughout the length of the spadix, while the Philodendrons and their
relatives Homolamena and Furtadoa produce blooms with a unisexual spadix
with female flowers at its base with sterile and male flowers above the
female zone, which makes them very far apart and not close relatives even
  though they may appear alike!

Neither Philodendron nor Monstera species are found naturally outside
Central America, Mexico, South America and the Caribbean since they are
NeoTropical species.  The NeoTropics is defined as Mexico, Central
America, South America, the Caribbean and the southern tip of Florida.  The
genus Rhaphidophora is not found naturally in North or South America but
would then be a SE Asian equivalent with three Asian relatives including
members of the genera Epipremnum,  Amydrium, and Scindapsus.

Postings can be found on the internet as well as in the offerings of
internet plant sellers identifying this species as Amydrium tetrasperma,
Amydrium 'Ginnie', Philodendron Ginnie, Philodendron imbe Ginny, and
Epipremnum Ginny.  All are scientifically incorrect.  The use of single
quotes implies a registered cultivar which also appears to be incorrect.
  Numerous
discussions have been held on aroid forums regarding some of these names,
and they are still commonly used on sites such as eBay.  A variegated form
is commonly available but the variegation is not natural in this species and
is reported to have been induced by a chemical process during the tissue
culture process. (see photo, below)  Growers have reported the
variegations vanishes as the plant grows since the chemicals eventually wear
  off.

Tissue culture (known as TC) is the asexual propagation of fragments of a
suitable parent plant in order to produce identical clones of it in large
quantity. In the cells of the parent are grown in a laboratory in nutrient
solutions until they form a mass of tissue. These tissues then get different
chemicals to induce roots and leaves. Once developed the tiny plants are
transplanted into a potting medium and finally grown by the commercial plant
  growing industry.

On several of the popular garden websites plant collectors repeatedly refer
to R. tetrasperma as a miniature form, or mini Monstera deliciosa  while
others continue to insist it is a form of Epipremnum.  This note from
expert aroid grower Michael Mattlage appears to sum up the correct
conclusion, I know there was some debate a while back on whether the plant
labeled Amydrium, Philodendron, etc. etc. 'Ginny' was either a form of the
variable Epipremnum pinnatum or Rhaphidophora tetrasperma.  The experts
finally agreed with the later.   As indicated by Michael, the species
does also appear similar to the  adult form of Epipremnum pinnatum, but is
  only a related species.

Rhaphidophora tetrasperma is not a miniature form of Monstera and in
February, 2007 aroid botanist Peter Boyce responded with this answer to a
question posted regarding the miniature Monstera deliciosa theory on the
forum Aroid l, In the 90s while working on Rhaphidophora I investigated the
so-called miniature form of M. deliciosa in cultivation in Europe and as
named in Birdsey's Cultivated Aroids as 'Dwarf Ceriman' and these plants
were without exception Rhaphidophora tetrasperma from peninsular Malaysia
and southern Thailand.  At the time Josef (Bogner) had a large one
flowering in Munich and it was from here that I obtained inflorescences to
confirm the generic Id.  Material from this clone was later used by one of
my students Tam Shey May for molecular work on the Monstereae and embedded
