I’m waiting for a flight home in Bangor but left the KiwiSDR behind at Quoddy

Just a couple of carriers seen on it - 1089, 1287 and 972 - from my hotel room.
No audio.
Not sure if conditions that bad or the antenna I left behind.

I use Guy’s eBay gray plastic boxes for the indoor portion of the Vactrol and
some black RadioShack mini-boxes for outside — WITH bleed holes. I can attest
to the fact that condensation DOES happen — whether at Grayland or Lubec or
Fleeton, VA on the Chesapeake Bay.
Fortunately, inside the
the A-index I was having the best TA conditions in a
long time in the mid-Atlantic.
That’s not what one normally expects.
Go figure …

Oh yea, this was all between 2330-0100utc and there was a YUGE signal on 783
with audio - usually I get a nice carrier with little or no audio. Arabic and
lots of mentions of Iraq and Syria so I'm betting Syria vs. Mauritania.

Fun listening to audio vs. watching traces roll up the Perseus screen. ;-)
BTW, 1521 is no longer the 'monster' it has been in seasons past. In fact,
it's not in here at all! Must be having tx problems.

I have only heard AUS on 720 - and then only ONCE and only at Sans Souci, on
the Oregon coast between Florence and Yachats, OR.
Chuck did ‘glean’ many of my Grayland logs for a re-issued ‘master log.’ I’ll
let him address where that might be.
My own master log from Grayland & Sans Souci,
and then got lost
in the domestic splatter and fading desired signal.
Few mumbly words heard on both 1512 and 1548 between 1106 - 1115utc with 1548
holding out the longest.
Perseverance will pay off someday!

Tonga usually has very low modulation.

Using every other software I’ve tried makes me REALLY glad I started back in
the hobby with Perseus. What is intuitive on Perseus stock software is mostly
buried behind odd windows and menu picks and key combinations on the others.

Given what Kaz and Tim Tromp are hearing in the midwest this must be an

Thanks for putting this up Colin. Unfortunately, Youtube just spins and spins
when I try to open it. Must be a LOT of folks trying to hear what they missed.
It’s not easy being a ‘frequent Grayland visitor’ living on the east coast.
I would suspect that ‘opening’ allowed some carriers, at
Nice Michael! The few times I’ve heard 1071 in Maine it’s very quickly
overtaken by Iran after about 2000utc.
I hear those nasty WTIC ‘dit dit dit dah’ TOH tones adjacent at the beginning.
Ugh!

Great stuff Nick! I see they heard WBAL in Baltimore too - just up the road
from me here in DC.
I love the subtitle of one of their sections: EL RECEPTOR SDR. UN NUEVO

Ah men to that!
P.S. Where they stayed made the Grayland Motel look like a Holiday Inn! At
They seem to leave the carrier on all night Walt. I'd bet for navigation
purposes. Unless they've done something drastic they ALWAYS have weak
modulation so it's hard to know when they actually take audio off but it's well
before 1200utc.
1098 was the first TP/DU carrier Nick found on Sunday
