I downloaded j2re-1.3.1-RC1-linux-arm.tar.bz2 and additional-ipaq-stuff.tar.gz,
and extracted, then I copied libXm.so.* and libXp.so* at additional-ipaq-stuff
to j2re1.3.1/lib/armv4l.
Finall

I've just installed blackdown java on my h3970 ipaq. There were a couple of
errors during the installation. When the jre had been installed 'SIGSEGV'
was output to the terminal. Is this normal? When I installed the add package
I got the message:
~ # ipkg install
http:/
The installation didn’t give any error messages..
But as I will do the java –version nothing happens..
What did I miss?

Yesterday I tried to install jdk-1.3.0-FCSa.ppc.rpm on my SuSE6.4PPC,
but kpackage told my as unresolved dependencies:
libodbc.so and libodbcinst.so!
Does anybody know within which package these files are and where I could
get them from?

Thanks - that did the trick.
I needed to set CLASSPATH to
CLASSPATH=/usr/local/jdk1.2.2/jre/:.
So if I understand this correctly, I got the error because the local
directory was NOT in the CLASSPATH; so java could not find the class
I created in my program and threw that exception.

You don't need classes.zip or rt.jar in your classpath, but you do need
the directory containing your HelloWorldApp program in
your classpath.

CLASSPATH be set. I still get the same error if I unset them.

Do this:
java HelloWorldApp
instead of this:
java HelloWorldApp.class
If you're using 1.2.2 you don't need a CLASSPATH (at least not for
this).
The runtime classes are in .../jdk1.2.2/jre/lib/rt.jar, not
../classes.zip.

My understanding is that all jars found in a certain directory are
used. I suppose the idea is you symbolically link your jars to there.

In JDK 1.2, it works similar to what you want. Any Jar files
you put in a certain directory are automatically in the classpath.
Look at the
JDK 1.2 docs.
