[JAWS-Users] Question About Creating A Key Stroke To Mute JAWS

Once you have created this key stroke to mute JAWS, can you use the same key
stroke to start JAWS

Bring up your keyboard manager then make sure you are focused on the default
file. Tab once in to the list of available functions. Then start typing
mute until you hear mute synthesizer which will have no keystroke assigned.
Press control A and give it what ever keystroke your heart desires. Save
your changes and close out the keyboard manager.

Hi, thanks for all the suggestions. I was looking for an alt
control key command that would shut Jaws off quickly. The Jaws verbosity
will work, the insert V turns Jaws on quickly. If I press insert V and
press the end key that takes me to the speech verbosity, then I just need to
press the space bar to shut Jaws off, then the insert V to bring Jaws back
again.

You shouldn't have to press anything after doing the insert v to bring
Jaws

It should start automatically.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Getting rid of the search in windows live messenger?

2007-01-06 Thread Robert S. Batchelor

Carliss,
If I understand you correctly, the search you are referring to is
a search within the program looking to see if any of your contacts are
online and then updating the status on all of them such as Offline, Busy
or Away from keyboard. It's just trying to locate the people in your
lists!

Is that what you are referring to?

Yes it is a toggle kind of thing. The other item I forgot to mention is
that jaws will only remain muted so long as you stay focused on your current
application. Once you swich to another window jaws will start talking again
and continue to speak until you mute it again. So it's a short turm thing,
but it does work fine.

And just so I keep this on topic, make sure you tape their Jaws also.

Yes it is a toggle kind of thing. The other item I forgot to mention is
that jaws will only remain muted so long as you stay focused on your current
application. Once you swich to another window jaws will start talking again
and continue to speak until you mute it again. So it's a short turm thing,
but it does work fine.

Jaws back.
It should start automatically.

Do an insert v and type an s, until you hear, synsenthizer, speech
on, then press your space bar and press enter.
To start Jaws speaking again, just do an insert v.

 Carliss,

If I understand you correctly, the search you are referring to is a search within the program
looking to see if any of your contacts are online and then updating the status on all of them such as
Offline, Busy or Away from keyboard. It's just trying to locate the
people in your lists!

Is that what you are referring to?

 Bob

[JAWS-Users] Re: Question About Creating A Key Stroke To Mute JAWS

2007-01-06 Thread David Ferrin

It finally hit me where this kind of thing is already up on the web site.
Instructions for changing a keystroke can be found in the file assigning a
keystroke to the reply directly to sender script. I'm placing a file up
there for this thread as well but the directions are the same except for the
fact that it's in a different key map file for a different function. I've
already coded it so just need to upload the thing here shortly. I knew it
was there but I couldn't put my finger on where.

While I was in the keyboard manager creating a hot key for muting JAWS, I

mean that I can create a hot key that will either turn the JAWS speaking voice

2007-01-06 Thread Denny Huff

The way I use the contact search is,
while in the contact list, type in the first few characters of a contacts
name, but don't press enter.
Now arrow down and it should show you the contacts that meet that search
criteria.
To get out of the search, up arrow to the edit field for the search and
backspace any characters that you have there, then arrow down and you will
be in the contact list.
Note: If you type in a few characters in the search field and press enter,
and that contact is online, that will automatically open a conversation
window with that contact.

While I was in the keyboard manager creating a hot key for muting JAWS, I
noticed that there was a
couple of things there that said Decrease Voice Volume and Increase Voice
Volume. Does this
mean that I can create a hot key that will either turn the JAWS speaking
voice volume either up or
down? If so, how do I do it? By the way, this was in JAWS 7.0

[JAWS-Users] Calendars JAWS

2007-01-06 Thread Donnie Parrett

Hey Guys Gals,
I have started a new Bible reading plan for the year. The one that I am doing
this year has each
days reading listed as Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and so on. For instance February 1
would be listed as
Day 32. What I am needing to know, is there some type of Calendar or Program
available that would
have the dates identified as which day of the year that it is? Also, this
needs to be JAWS

I need some insight hear on how to navigate around online bible with jaws?

If you want to calculate, for example what date will be the 100th day of
2007, go to the following web site and follow the directions that I am
providing.

http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html

Hit h to move down to the heading Enter date to add or subtract from.

Press TAB to get to the edit box for entering in the starting month, enter
12.

Tab to the day edit box and enter in 31.

Tab to the year edit box and enter in 2006.

Tab to the combo box to choose add.

Tab to the edit box for days and enter in which day of the year you are
trying to find the date for. In my above example you would enter 100.

Tab to calculate new date button, and press the space bar.

Press h to move to the heading Calculation results

Read from this point forward to find out your results.

HTH,
Annette

Hey Guys Gals,
I have started a new Bible reading plan for the year. The one that I am
doing this year has each
days reading listed as Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and so on. For instance
February 1 would be listed as
Day 32. What I am needing to know, is there some type of Calendar or
Program available that would
have the dates identified as which day of the year that it is? Also, this
needs to be JAWS
friendly. If anyone can offer some info, it would be greatly appreciated.

See ya,
Scooter

[JAWS-Users] Re: Jaws and ATI

2007-01-06 Thread Walt Smith

Marsha -

Since the information you have came from Zoomtext, why not contact them? Are
you running Zoomtext when this takes place? I have an ATI card in my Dell
system and that driver (DCMD0C0.dll) is not on my system. There must be more
to the message than simply that driver name--are you sure there isn't more
being displayed? What version of JAWS are you using? My suggestion is to get
the latest ATI drivers for your computer and install them, as I think I've
said before.

Hi
I don't want to keep beating a dead horse; however, I will try one more
time. When the computer decides to crash, which can be any time or a long
period of time, I get the following message.

DCMC0d0.dll

When the crash occurs, most of the time, there is an awful noise which
comes through the speakers. I've found some information on this subject but
it is talking about the Nvidia card while I am talking about the ATI card.
Zoom text says in some post, to delete the dcmc.0d0.dll file. Since I have
no idea what this means and since it is talking about an Nvidia card, I
don't know what to do.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Keyboard Manager Question

2007-01-06 Thread Walt Smith

It doesn't matter. While those scripts are included, they don't work and
never have. You _can_ (as FS already has) assign keystrokes to change the
speech _rate_ and _pitch_, but you cannot change the volume on the fly. If
you assign keystrokes to the Increase and Decrease Volume scripts, you
_will_ hear the appropriate announcements, but that's all that happens. I do
not understand why these relics are still included--perhaps they work with a
few synthesizers, but they never worked with any synthesizer I ever used and
I go back to JAWS 3.50.

Hey Guys,

While I was in the keyboard manager creating a hot key for muting JAWS, I
noticed that there was a
couple of things there that said Decrease Voice Volume and Increase Voice
Volume. Does this
mean that I can create a hot key that will either turn the JAWS speaking
voice volume either up or

down? If so, how do I do it? By the way, this was in JAWS 7.0

[JAWS-Users] Outlook Question

2007-01-06 Thread Donnie Parrett

Hey Guys gals,

Sometimes I have had certain emails get hung up in my outbox. When this
happens I hear a message
saying, Mail delivery error - click here. When it says click here, I have no
idea where or what
to click. I had my wife take a look at it today when it happened and here is
what she saw. Across
the bottom of my screen there is some type of bar of information running. It
may be called the
status bar, I'm not sure. But, anyway, that is the place where the error
message is telling me to
click. So, how do I get down there to do that. I hope I have made a little
bit of sense so you can
understand what I am talking about.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Question

2007-01-06 Thread Denny Huff

Donnie,
You need to route your jaws to pc and then do a control end.
Then place your jaws cursor on the click here and do a left mouse button.
This opens a dialogue that you can tab through and see what the error is.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Jaws and ATI

2007-01-06 Thread Annette Carr

Marsha,

Are you using JAWS and ZoomText on the same machine, or even at the same
time. There are some known conflicts with these 2 programs, which I don't
remember the specifics about. All I do remember is that at work, the only
solution we came up with was to be sure to run JAWS and ZoomText on separate
machines. Even if they are not running simultaneously, they both need
certain parameters set and thus don't play well together on the same turf.

HTH
Annette
