[JAWS-Users] Re: Moving Icons On The Desktop
If for some reason like creating new desktop icons, your icons on your desktop are stacking up in one place, do a windows key+M to get JAWS focus to your desktop and do the applications key, arrow to the refresh key if that doesn't do what you want then arrow to arrange by and do a right arrow then you have several choices that will effect all of you desktop icons. If it is one particular icon you want to relocate from one spot to another then you need to ask how to drag and drop using JAWS, but then you would have to have someone sighted to tell you where to place it. In that case get your family members to assist you! Bob - Eliminate annoying spam! Patty, If it is in your system tray, the the application is running. Have you tried highlighting the name in the system tray and pressing enter on it? Hi Susan, If you are using Outlook Express, it sounds like you are in the deleted items folder. Normally speaking, that is where you would get that message. The only other message that comes to mind is, messages in the collapsed conversation will also be deleted, do you want to continue? If you check that box then everything in there will get dumped each and every time you close out your email. Now here's a thought it may be possible that your deleted folder is getting too large. Hopefully somebody else on here might have more information on that but I think there might be an upper limit as to the size of your DBX files. How to see if the conversation view is checked, and then uncheck it. 1. From the message list, hit alt+v to get io the Current View Submenu. 2. Hit right-arrow key to get into that submenu. 3. [JAWS-Users] Re: a Deleting question
Hi Suzy, When all else fails, try running anti-spuyware software, such as Ad-Aware, Spybot, or a new one I found called, simply, No Ad-Aware. The latter is great and quite extensive in it's searching capabilities, but that's only my opinion. You will have to shell out some money with this program though, as it is not free like AVG, , but not much money, and it's so good it will even pick up minor viruses, worms and Trojans. It's completely Jaws friendly, as I have been using it for so long now without any scripts, and every aspect of this program is accessible with Jaws. Either way, enough of the software promotion...My apologies for straying from the original conversation... Anyway, when I am faced with something that I can't explain on my computer, knowing full well that it wasn't doing it a few short days, weeks, or even hours ago, than I run a virus check, and a check for spyware. I also run a registry checker to make sure, after the initial scan for viruses and spyware are complete, that anything these two scans have found haven't corrupted the registry. Try that Suzy, and see what happens, after all, at this point, seeing as no one was any help whatsoever, you've got nothing to lose, right? Good luck, and let us, or at least, me, know how it went. [JAWS-Users] System Tray Process Correlation
Walt Said: More than enough running in the System Tray? What does this mean? It makes no difference how many items are running there. For that matter, you can set Autosizer (like a lot of other programs) to _not_ display a System Tray icon if you don't want one. *** Sorry Walt, but I hate to differ with you on this statement. The number of icons you have in your system tray are a direct correlation, although not a complete one, I must admit, to how many processes you have running in the background, and therefore, how much of your resources are being drained to go towards these extra processes. Like it or not, the stuff in your system tray sits in resident memory, ready to be used at any time, this would have a direct impact on how fast your computer is, how much time it takes to process information and data you input into the computer and then sends it back to you via Jaws key echo or something else. Granted, you can get a complete list of all running processes you have running in the task manager, but why bring that up if you're looking for only one process. Getting back to the earlier reason for the post , the fact is, Autosizer is a great program, and I agree with you that on some systems, such as on my desktop computer, it is a complete asset. It shouldn't, however, be required if things are configured properly on your computer, right? I mean, let's be honest, if Freedom Scientific had wanted Autosizer to be included in it's program code for Jaws, it wouldn't be offered up on the JFW Lite or Jaws Users site, it would be available to FS users as an add on to Jaws. The fact is, Jaws was created as a plug and play program, provided, of course, you have the video intercept manager installed, but in any case, one should be able to use Jaws right out of the package, and all the settings we do for Jaws are completely aesthetic and add more to our efficiency, not Jaws' efficiency. Either way. I don't want another process running in the background and that's that. [JAWS-Users] Re: System Tray Process Correlation
Actually Victor, just for clerification,it is not processes. What is commonly found in the system tray, are icons for applications that are loaded in the startup group. Processes are not necessarily applications. Example: I currently have nothing checked in the startup group in msconfig, and therefore have nothing listed in the system tray, however, I have 18 running processes, one of which is Jaws, but it is running as a service and not an application. [JAWS-Users] Re: what is the system tray
HiMaralyn 07 Introduction to Windows This learning module is entitled, An Introduction to Windows. This lesson introduces you to the primary controls of the Windows Desktop and how to navigate between and within these controls. We will also discuss how to modify the Windows Desktop for optimal use with JAWS for Windows. You can think of the Desktop as the parent window to all other windows. Each of the components of the Windows Desktop and the various programs or applications that you want to run on your computer, such as your word processor, e-mail package, or Internet browser can all be considered descendant windows of the Windows Desktop. As we move on through this tutorial, you'll get a good idea of how the hierarchy of Windows works. Currently, my focus is on the Windows Desktop, but there is nothing selected. If your focus is not on the Windows Desktop, please press LEFT WINDOWS+M. Okay, now that we're at a common starting point. I'm going to press the TAB key one time. TAB. Start button. To open, press ENTER. We hear JAWS speak, Start button. The Start button is what's activated when you press the Windows logo key. When you press spacebar on the start button or when you activate the Windows logo key, it opens a menu called the Start menu. The Start menu is where you go to launch all your Windows programs. We'll come back to the start menu later. There are three other parts of the desktop that I'd like to show you. To move to the next item, simply press the TAB key. Most of you will probably land on the Task bar. However, some of you may hear something like the following: TAB. Tool bar. Launch Internet Explorer browser button. A series of graphical buttons. Menus usually contain the same options. This is the Quick Launch Toolbar and it can be turned on or off by the end user. By default in Windows '98, the Tool bar is turned on. By default in Windows XP, it is turned off. If you landed on the Quick Launch Toolbar, press TAB one more time and you will land on the task bar. TAB. Task bar. To move through items, press LEFT or RIGHT ARROW. The task bar is where we can go to find out what programs are currently open on our computer. To navigate the Task bar, simply press the LEFT and RIGHT ARROW keys. I'm going to press the LEFT ARROW now. JAWS TAB. I hear, JAWS tab, and now I'll press the RIGHT ARROW. JAWS TAB. From this, we know JAWS is currently the only program running on my computer. If you heard something else, it means that you currently have more than one program running on your computer. For the moment though, we won't worry about that. I'm going to press the TAB key again. TAB. System tray. JAWS speaks the first icon. Use your left and right arrows to move through all the items in your system tray. Show how you wrap back to the beginning. Mention that you can move to the system tray in this manner, but it is much more efficient to use INSERT+F11. Press TAB again. TAB. Desktop. List view... Now we land with our focus on the Desktop. The Desktop list view contains icons, or shortcuts, that allow you to launch programs or access folders and files. As a Windows user, you can specify what shortcuts you want to be placed on your Desktop. Of course, we can easily remove these shortcuts from the Desktop, as well. When we first tabbed to the Desktop list view, we heard JAWS speak, Desktop. List view. So, moving to our Desktop gave us several important pieces of information. First, it told us that we had just tabbed to the control called the Desktop list view. Next we were told that the item we landed on in this list was selected or not selected, and it's name. We also learned that there were a total of ## items in this list on my computer, and that the focus is on the ## item in the list. Finally, JAWS' Tutor Mode instructed us how we could move in this environment. If the item that we're over isn't currently selected, any action we attempt to take regarding this item wouldn't work. Before we can take an action in a list view such as this, the computer wants to know which item we want to change. We could select the item that we're over by pressing the SPACEBAR, or by moving to another item with our ARROW keys as Tutor Mode instructed us. You can unselect an item on the desktop by pressing CTRL+SPACEBAR. Select the icon if needed. My Computer. Space As you heard, My Computer, the first item in my list, is now selected. I can move around within the Desktop list view by using my UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT ARROW keys. Throughout these lessons, we're going to encounter some list views that are arranged vertically, in which you only need to use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to navigate. However, the Desktop list view is arranged in rows and columns, and since the Desktop list view is definable by the user, the number of times that you need to press the LEFT, RIGHT, UP, and DOWN ARROW keys is going to vary from

If I recall you simply wish to delete emails and as such send them to your deleted folder without permanently removing them. I must ask if you have empty deleted items on exit checked or not. David Ferrin I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I'll probably screw that one up too. In answer to your question, I just want to delete posts which I have received, but not permanently, as in never-never. No, these aren't spam, just mail. All the suggestions, thus far, have either not been the situation, or didn't work. Suzy - Original Message - From: Robert S. There are programs that purport to read what's on the clipboard, but those that I've checked out have been something less than great. Search on Google for clipboard viewer without the quotes. - Original Message - From: Carla Jo [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws users jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, January 19, 2007 1:39 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] a clipboard question Is there a key stroke or a way to check to see what is on your clip board? thanks, cj -- No virus found in this incoming message.
