It's my understanding that,
This setting does not appear in the Windows Mobility Center
On Dell laptops.
So, you will need to change the function key behavior through the,
BIOS,
I believe,
If you restart computer, and press F2key, the bios will load,
If you need further instructions

If you tab one time you may hear,
Small or large icons,
If you press spacebar, up arrow, you will hear, cadigory,
Press enter.
Now, if you tab you should find hardware and sound,
However, there's no setting to change

I really think that people are telling you something that doesn't apply on
your HP computer. Here is the info I referenced a couple days ago, and the
link to the HP support site is below that. You'll need somebody to read the
screen when you go into the Bios settings to change this.

Yeah, I finally found that hardware and sound lastnight but there was
nothing to change the function key as you are saying. So I'm guessing Bios
is the only way to do it.

Don't you have a keyboard button that can change function keys from
multimedia to normal function keys without going into the BIOS???
Try to play with the keyboard, specially on the upper right side, and
hopefully will find a key that will change the mode to normal
When I googled 'unlock function' one of the alternatives was to use
shift-f11. that didn't work for me. But the mobility center
did. It isn't accessible on my computer with JAWS. but at least it
isn't the bios.

Well, that would make sense because I have a wireless keyboard that had a
button to change. But I haven't found one.
Maybe I can have a sighted person look at the keys. Would make sense though.
