Re: [JAWS-Users] disk defragmenter

2017-06-16 Thread Dialup @ 56k
Just to add to the disk de frag question, solid state drives don't
require this process either.

And IMO, it's a bit over rated for most conventional / spinning HDD's.
Running defrag too often can have a detrimental effect on the drive,
particularly if it's already nearing its 'end of live'.

I haven't been able to have the scan announced , the only way I know it's

check box.you know the scan is finished when you have no more pause/resume

usually it says nothing was cleaned. I'm running vipre anti-virus 2016

2017-06-16 Thread Mike B.
Hi Scorpio & Wayne,

If I'm not mistaken, diskdefragmenter, is set to run on a schedule, by
default in Windows 7 The problem is that when I checked the defragmenting
schedule it was set to run real late at night, or real early in the morning
on a weekly basis, & if you didn't leave your computer running all the time
it wouldn't be defragmented. Since I defrag my computers regularly I turned
off the scheduled defrag that Windows had set.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Hi Wayne,

I believe all defragmenters are just as good as the other.

Fact is, all you're doing is moving information around, and, if anything,
Windows will have a jump on other applications because of the index it uses
for the Start menu function and the file search.

Either way, I believe the Windows 7 defrag utility is enough for your drive.

Hi,

This is a function of Windows, and does not depend on the drive you have.

Microsoft has finally figured out that drives lag with time, and has made
the service automatic, rather than relying on the user to do it manually.

Re: [JAWS-Users] YouTube Red`

2017-06-16 Thread Judy Jones
I have Youtube Red, and do just fine with it on the PC and on my Android
device. The main reason I got it is so I wouldn't have to put up with
commercials while watching. I really don't care for their offerings anyway,
but when watching any video, you can fast forward, play/pause, rewind, go to
previous or next video, share what you are watching or add to a playlist.

The volume is a slider you can left or right arrow to change the volume,
once you press Enter on the slider.

Same thing goes for moving through a video, there is a slider you press
enter on and can left or right arrow through.

BTW, I am using Internet Explorer, as I seem to get the best results that
way.

I am also using Windows 10.

On the Android device (my phone), the Add and Share buttons are at the top
of the screen. There are also buttons for subscribing to that person's
channel, and for getting e-mail notifications of any additions to the
channel. These toggle. These are also on the site when accessing by
computer, but am not remembering how they look.

I use Youtube all the time on my phone, and one can also read and make
comments to the videos.

You were talking about copying text from the virtual viewer, but you should
be aware that is not the same as taking a screenshot. If you want to take
an actual screenshot, there are applications that will allow you to simplify
the process. However, you can use the method that is built-in to Windows.
The Printscreen key will take a snapshot of the entire screen and place it
on to the clipboard. Alt+Printscreen will do the same, but it will capture
only the active window. Once you have the snapshot on the clipboard, you
can open Paint under "Accessories" and paste it with Control+V. You can
then save it to an image file. Now, you can attach the image file & send it
as an attachment in an email.

an actual screenshot, there are applications that will allow you to simplify
the process.

To add to this, to get into the list of folders you need to be in, say your
in box, then press shift tab and then you will be in the list of your
folders, arrow to the folder you want and then follow those directions,
Applications key and then delete.

Try placing focus on the folder name and then pressing the applications key.
If memory serves, d for delete will take you to the option you want. Note
that the folder name may then appear under your delete folder, but there the
delete key should work.

If this doesn't solve the problem, please re-post.

Hi Fred,

While in your folder list highlight the folder, but do not tab into the
folder, only highlight it, now press, shift + delete. Rebooting the
computer would probably be a good idea afterwards.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Send Space Wizard & Jaws

2017-06-16 Thread Mike B.
Hi JM,

I uninstalled 1.6.3 & installed 1.6.0, & it didn't work any better. Now
after going through all this I installed the latest Windows 7 update that
came out Tuesday, & after doing so the Wizard worked just fine! There is
however a caveat, it could been the file I was trying to download causing
all the problems, & not the Wizard at all, but that was the only file I had
to work with at the moment. I didn't think about sending myself a download
link from my SendSpace folder until after I had installed the Windows
update, but most importantly everything is working as it should now. Thanks
for your reply.

I can suggest is to reinstall it, as I just used it yesterday and it is

Re: [JAWS-Users] Acrobat DC.

2017-06-16 Thread JM Casey
Whether you want the whole document loaded or not is entirely your personal
perference. However if you don't do this, many things will not be
available/work as they should. You cannot for instance search a document if
you don't load it all at once. You can't get a list of links. Etc, etc.

I personally use Qread for pDF documents nowadays, if I just have to read
and not edit them. It loads them all extremely fast and has no issues. Of
course it won't work with image documents but then you pretty much need an
oCR package for those anyway (convenient OCR is really not good enough)

Judy,

Here's how I did it. Find the Accessibility submenu under the Edit menu.
Right-arrow to open the Accessibility submenu and arrow to the Setup
Assistant then press enter. That will launch the wizard that we've been
discussing in this thread.

I just accepted the defaults the first time through, but it didn't work for
me, so Randy suggested that I change the options to load the entire document
and turn off the option to open in the web browser.

Later, someone posted that opening a page at a time was sometimes better, so
perhaps my only problem was the web browser option, but I've not tried
changing the loading option back to a page at a time.

Anyway, it's the Setup Assistant you need rather than the Preferences, I
think.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Acrobat DC.

2017-06-16 Thread Judy Jones

Thank you,

The only things I can arrow through are those five buttons. When I hit
control-K, I do see Accessibility at the top of the preferences. There are
several items under that as follows:

Replace Document Colors, not checked
Always Use Page Layout Style checked
Here, Single Page is chosen.
Then:
Always Use Zoom Setting not checked
Use Document Structure For Tab Order When No Explicit Tab Order Is Specified
checked
Enable Assistive Technology Support checked
Always Display The Keyboard Selection Cursor checked
Always Use The System Selection Color not checked
Show Portfolios In Files Mode not checked

Then, there is an explanation of where to find the screen-reader options,
which is on the reading panel, but do not know how to get to that.

Thanks again.

Judy

Judy,

By the looks of acrobat DC, it looks like it lands you in a dialogue pain
for page display. I'm running under 64 bit windows 7. Arrow down twice in
the tree view to accessability. Give that a try on your 10 system and
report back.

You don't need an iphone, I had it working with a normal cell phone.

Hi T,

You can. Its free to try, and if you put your cell phone in there, you
can do everything by your phone without being on the site. I only do
that because otherwise, I'd never know i'd get a message. It'll work
out I'm sure.

My initial look shows me its accessible with jaws, it has a new layout
since I last used it but it looks good.

I used it with Window-Eyes, I'll have to take a look with jaws at some
point as I have an account. I also have it forwarding to my cell so can
respond that way as well.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Setting up a Mail Profile in Windows 10

2017-06-16 Thread David Whitehead
1, go into control panel,

2, press the letter "m" until you hear;
Mail Microsoft Outlook2016 32bit  link;
Press enter,

3, tab and enter on, show profiles...button,

4, now tab and enter on add button,

Hope this gets you pointed in the right direction.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Setting up a Mail Profile in Windows 10

Hello,
I want my QuickBooks 2017 to use my Outlook 2016 for emailing.
I have read that QuickBooks requires me to go into Outlook 2016 & set it as
my default email which I have done.
Now the QuickBooks community article I am reading tells me to go into
Windows 10 Control panel > Mail and set up a Profile.
I have gone into my Control Panel and I cannot find "Mail".
Can someone please tell me how to get to Control Panel -> Mail to add a new
Profile?
George
