I would call it in. if need tech support can tandem in and see if anything is wrong. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Rebecca Lineberger Sent: Friday, March 16, 2018 10:25 AM To: jaws user's list Subject: [JAWS-Users] Latest JAWS Update I would call this in, but thought I'd see if anyone else can replicate it first. Yesterday, after I installed the new version, I went first to Microsoft Edge, and played around in there with different websites, to see how text selection worked. It worked fine, as I said yesterday. But what I did not mention yesterday was when I went back to Chrome, the Google page loaded, but JAWS showed nothing on the screen. Nothing when I typed into the search box, nothing when I turned the pc cursor on and arrowed down the page, nothing when I refreshed the screen with JAWS key-escape, nothing when I rotated through the f6 options. No luck with Windows-tab or alt-tab in going away from the page and coming back. I turned off the computer and when it rebooted, all was fine. This morning, Chrome was fine. But when I went to Edge for a while and then came back to Chrome, the same thing happened as the day before. This time, rather than shutting the computer down, I just restarted JAWS. When it came back, it had sorted itself out and Chrome is working properly again. Is this a bug? Several others reported things not working properly till the computer was rebooted. I will call it in, or perhaps Eric Damery can replicate this one too? Smile. I' dbe a bit worried why JAWS is deleting the scripts. It definitely shouldn't be doing that. To install the scripts, make sure you are copying them into the folder C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\[JAWSVersion]\Settings\enu On 2/23/18, Charles Adkins wrote: > > > Sent from my iPhoneI am so frustrated. Tom, Here you go. Enhancements in JAWS 17.0.2417 (July 2016) The following is a list of improvements made between the JAWS 17 June 2016 release and the July 2016 update. JAWS list of 8 items . We have been working with Microsoft to improve the accessibility of the Mail app included in Windows 10. After installing this update, read-only messages you open are now read using the Virtual Cursor, similar to Outlook. Additionally, just like in Word or Outlook, JAWS now announces when you turn on or off the bold, italic, and underline attributes in editable messages using the CTRL+B, CTRL+I, and CTRL+U commands. While users should notice improved performance with the currently released Mail app, Microsoft has made a number of changes as well to improve the experience which will be included in a Windows 10 update that will be available in the coming weeks. . Due to issues with obtaining results from 411.com, the People Search Research It lookup source has been updated to use the web site 10digits.us. To search, you now only need to enter the person's first and last name. If you receive too many results, you can narrow the search further by typing the person's first and last name followed by a comma, and then the city and state, or zip code. For example, John Smith, Saint Petersburg FL, or John Smith, 33716. . Addressed an issue where the INSERT+4 keystroke could not be found using the JAWS Command Search feature. This command opens a dialog box where you can select from a list of items such as Euro, Yen, Pounds, Trademark, Copyright, bullet, plus or minus, etc. and the symbol for that item will be inserted at the cursor position in the currently open document. If you know of any other keystrokes that are missing from the JAWS Command Search, or are not easily found, please provide us with the name of the keystroke and the search terms you are using to locate it so we can update the command descriptions with this information to make them easier to find. . When entering text in contracted braille using the APH Refreshabraille display, addressed a reported issue where contracted words beginning with dots 4-5-6 were not being correctly translated. . This update contains new scripts from Corel to add JAWS support for the X8 versions of WordPerfect, Quatro Pro, and Presentations. . Dictionary pronunciation rules have been added so that JAWS now correctly speaks the name "Ai Squared". . Resolved an issue with the Weather Research It lookup source in the German version of JAWS not displaying the temperature. . In response to customer requests, you can now configure braille input when the braille language is set to English - United Kingdom. list end Microsoft Excel list of 3 items . Resolved an issue where JAWS was not reporting background color changes in Excel after turning on "Font, color, and attribute changes indication" in Quick Settings. . Addressed issues with opening drop-down lists contained in cells. . Addressed an issue where structured braille stopped working correctly if focus moved to a menu and then back to the spreadsheet. list end Web Browsers list of 3 items . Addressed certain instances where combo boxes on a web page were not being shown in the virtual buffer. . In addition to announcing "has pop up" on aria menu buttons, JAWS now also says "has pop up" for any element that includes the aria-haspopup property. . Resolved an issue where JAWS was not always announcing the change in status for toggle buttons in Internet Explorer. list end Windows 10 list of 3 items . Resolved an issue where JAWS support for the Windows 10 Calculator was not working as expected. . Improved JAWS performance in the Windows 10 Open With dialog box, which allows you to select the application to use to open the current file. . The JAWS settings for the Windows 10 Task Manager are now loaded as expected. list end Dave Carlson Oregonian, woodworker, Engineer, Musician, and Pioneer - Original Message - From: "Tom Behler" To: "'Jaws users list'" Sent: Thursday, July 14, 2016 08:11 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Latest Jaws Update? No, it is the asinine feature that Freedom Scientific decided to push to everybody that is on by default in the latest update to J17. You can go into settings manager, Miscellaneous to turn it off. Kind of reminds me of the blowback Apple got for pushing that U2 album to everybody when they updated IOS 8. Re: [JAWS-Users] Latest JAWS Update
Hi Steven, In the previous update of JAWS, Freedom Scientific added this feature to JAWS. If a FS cast comes out, JAWS lets you know and sometimes starts playing it. However, you can turn this off in settings center. Just open the settings center with insert+6 on the numbers row, and make sure that you press CTRL+SHIFT+D to get to the default. Then, tab to the tree view and arrow almost to the bottom right above the settings you have made. Right there, you will be able to turn this off and you will never have that happen again. Over all, this is the best update to JAWS that we have enjoyed for a long time. No more crashing. Smart navigation works better. Works great in win10. Take care and God bless. -Original Message- From: Hicks Steven (ROYAL CORNWALL HOSPITALS NHS TRUST) Sent: Thursday, April 7, 2016 1:45 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Latest JAWS Update Hi friends, Just upgraded to the latest JAWS 17, when I re-booted after a while, a Freedomscientific podcast launched on my machine automatically, this seems strange, has anyone else noticed this or is something very odd going on with my machine? Howdy, Notify about new FSCasts ,this is a new feature in the latest J17.0.1539 release. You can disable it in the settings center Default All Applications. You can search in the settings center Default All Applications by typing FSCast or find it under, Miscellaneous, this is the miscellaneous that's almost at the bottom, right above Last Changed Settings, it's 21 of 22, if you wish not to be notified when there is a new FSCast. Simply uncheck the box and select apply & okay in the settings center. Take care. Mike Remember folks, it's tax time! If you add, IRS to the word, the, you get "T H E I R S". Hello, I know that there is a JAWS update that I haven't downloaded yet. I have noticed from emails on the list that there are some problems with it. Have these problems been worked out or should I wait for corrections to be made before I download the latest update? I am not having any trouble with the current version I am using, JAWS 13 with updates upto the current one. So, I guess my question is, should I wait to update JAWS? Re: [JAWS-Users] latest Jaws update
I've been switching to JAWS12 to use the BARD website since the last update of JAWS because my PW was not accepted by the site. Before that, I had the same problem and I contacted FS and with a tandem session it was corrected. With the latest build JAWS13.0.924 the problem resurfaced. I'm glad to learn of the current situation, because although I already downloaded the new version, I think I'll stay with what I've got now and not install the update. It might of not had it for you, but it did for me. Was told by FS to upgrade video drivers. When I told them It was new card and up to date drivers. then got told it was my problem. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, if a bulleted list is nested inside a numbered list, resolved an issue where JAWS would read the bulleted items as numbers instead of bullets. . Addressed a reported issue of JAWS reading the actual content of password fields on some Web pages. . Resolved an issue where Personalized Web settings were not being loaded as expected after being configured for a particular Web page. . Good morning everyone: Yesterday morning, I installed the latest update for jaws 11. When I wentback into my outlook express 6 too read my email, I noticed that my ongoing problem with outlook express 6still reads previous names of messages which were deleted. In other words, when I delete a message that I have already read and open another new message, I hear the name and subject line of the previous senders message. Before I installed the latest update of the latest jaws, which was version jaws11 point 754, I went and reinstalled jaws 11 full version from the website too see if that might have corrected the previous version of the program. since it didn't, I reinstalled jaws 11 from the web, because I don't have a dvd driveon this computer as it is almost 8 years old. I have tried doing a repair of jaws but as I said, it is still ongoing. Since I have nortons antivirus running in the backround shouldn't it pick up any viruses that are on my system? Should I also, maybe do a full system scan? is it possible that there might be mailware that's causing this problem? If anyone has other suggestions to offer then the one's I've already tried, bring them on. That is always a possibility. Driver updates some times break things but more often than not life does improve after such an upgrade. Hi David: I'm glad that you haven't been experiencing the same problem using outlook express 6 that I'm having. It seems to read subject lines and names of the previous senders message, even though I delete the prior message. Do you think that since I've never updated the latest video drivers for the video card that's in this computer since I boughte it back in 2002 might be causing the problem? I've never attempted to do this because I've heard that whenever people update there video drivers for there particular video display, that it caused more problems for them when they used jaws then it was worth, so that's why I've never done - Original Message - From: "David Ferrin" To: Sent: Saturday, April 17, 2010 8:44 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Latest jaws update doesn't seemed to have resolvedmyongoing issue with outlook express 6. > I've been using outlook express for several years already and no problems > to > report at all now using the latest version of 11. > David Ferrin > www.jaws-users.com > Life is what happens after you have already made other plans. > - Original Message - > From: "Albert Cutolo" > To: > Sent: Saturday, April 17, 2010 7:46 AM > Subject: [JAWS-Users] Latest jaws update doesn't seemed to have resolved > myongoing issue with outlook express 6. > > > Good morning everyone: > > Yesterday morning, I installed the latest update for jaws 11.
