I too found Arachne in 1996, in about August of that year. I remember
when I first discovered it. I had typed in "lace" in the browser and
was shocked to get a lot of porno web-sites :) Luckily arachne did
appear too and I've belonged ever since. It was a real thrill just to
know there
Itâs hard to believe itâs 23 yrs. already :) I joined Arachne about 6
months after itâs beginning and remember when I first found it. I was very
new to the internet and I typed simply âlaceâ into the search engine.
That was an eye opener because most sites with the key word were about
Me too, I think I joined arachne in 2002.

I’ve been on Arachne since 1996 - just about the beginning. I will always
remember the excitement of reading the many, many pages of messages that came
every day in my digest. So much information, and I wanted to print it all out!

Wow. These celebration ideas are deeply appreciated! Will ya look at their
creativity, warmth and meaningfulness!! These warm ideas can lead to more
connections among lacemakers, AND make memories that can be rekindled each
following year. Thank you each very, very much!

Eugene,
I belong to Silvergate Lacers in the San Diego area and last October we
celebrated our 40th anniversary. Â We had commemorative bobbins, a cake and a
pot luck lunch. Â I was unfortunately absent but the photos look like I missed
a good time. Â We also had a member who had tee shirts machine
Dear Martha,
On March 23rd, and again today, I sent you long private messages to help
you with lace public relations and celebrations. Your address is Comcast,
and I am not sure you are receiving mail from AOL. If you are not, please
request someone you know to be a go-between, and I'll
A commemorative bobbin and an afternoon or morning tea/get together.
Have a cake to share and perhaps a small snack and tea/coffee or if you
are daring and don't need to drive a glass of bubbles.

Martha, I agree with Sue, and our regional guild often uses Chris Parsons (UK),
who can provide a painted bobbin based on your picture, or Richard Worthen(US)
for hand-turned and pyrographed bobbins.

Hello Martha,
We celebrate in several ways but the one I like is to have a commerative bobbin
with name and date, we have had our Coral anniversary that we celebrated that
way.

Hi Lacers,
We’re still a small guild (ahem - for a while), and some of our members are not
able to be as active as they’d like. But we’d still like to do something to
acknowledge our (non-zero) anniversary as a charter member of IOLI.
Can any of you share little things we could do that would

One suggestion that flew by and wasn't commented on, was a mouse pad. I
don't think they will go out of style for a while like the flash

Hi
The Lace Guild used to sell a wonderful mouse mat - with the mouse made of tape

Hi Arachnids
Transfers can be made for ironing onto fabric. Then they could be used on
cover cloths, T-shirts etc. no matter our type of lace we could use them
Again, these would be light, easy and inexpensive to post. The person having
the job of posting all these items needs to be thought of.
I think logistically we can do all sorts of things, although it would be
nice to have a unifying logo. Who will come up with this logo? And if
there is more than one suggestion, how will it be chosen, or will we again
have a choice. With all the creative talent on this list, I am sure there

Of course - the mouse pad doesn't get seen by others so we aren't 'spreading

she would approve even if we used the original - that was the purpose of

Hello all,
Speaking of lurkers...
I am usually a lurker excepting those few times I think I can contribute
to the list. There are not so many because of language (this there has been

mine.
